Informative, but poorly photographed.......2007-07-16
Most of the pictures taken of the snakes of the Americas were blurry and faded in color. Of course, most of us take precautions against snakes in the wild. But generally speaking, this book should be revised and republished.
Poisonous?.......2005-08-04
Perhaps people would be less likely to misunderstand snakes if the government didn't publish misleading information about them... starting with the fact that there are no "Poisonous" snakes. The correct term is "Venomous". I don't plan on buying this and neither should you.

Good Information.......2005-12-28
The author of this book tries to judge the top 10 fighters of the UFC, using his own criteria. The criteria is loosely based on the overall performance of each fighter and the lasting effect they had on the MMA world. The reason Tank Abbot made it is because Tank was the first to use gloves in the Octogon - something that all fighters use today.
The veracity of the book can be argued about, but that is not to say that the book has no purpose. There have been many historians who have written about the top 10 American Presidents, but really there will never be any absolute criteria to prove which President is best - it can always be argued for or against. So this book has a place in the MMA world, and it is a fun and easy read, especially for MMA fans.

A great dictionary for intermediate ESL, not for TOEFL!.......2000-04-15
I am a professional ESOL instructor and think that this dictionary is one of the best. However, it is not the easiest dictionary to use and understand because the language and definitions are not as clear and simple as the language and definitions in other ESL dictionaries.
Even though this is a good dictionary, I do NOT use it with my students for one reason: the English in this dictionary is closer to British English and most of my students need to study American English, especially my TOEFL students. So, if you are studying TOEFL, I would NOT recommend this dictionary.
However, if you are an intermediate ESL student or above, and are studying international English, this dictionary is one of the best and the price is great!

An iguana is no picnic.......2003-09-07
Speaking as someone who has inherited two iguanas from my brother, they aren't easy animals to care for. People tend to think that they're like cats, that you can just let them roam freely without a thought. But iguanas are complicated pets, with very specific needs in terms of food, temperature, and attention. This book is an excellent introduction to anyone who either owns an iguana or is considering owning one. They aren't just simple lizards. They're like children, with all the same needs and demands. I daresay that iguanas even have emotional needs that aren't often talked about, and my one disappointment about this book was that, like all the others, it tends to downplay the emotional complexity of reptiles. Lizards do get lonely, just like dogs. If you leave an iguana to roam freely in a troubled household, I guarantee you will learn to recognize a neurotic lizard. No, they don't become obsessive-compulsive or anything. But I've seen iguanas refuse to eat, tear up kitchens and sofas out of spite, intentionally hurt themselves, and bite dinner guests. The book is a tremendous guide to these sensitive animals, but it does not delve deeply into rehabilitating those pets that have been mistreated in the past, and one should never think that just because reptiles lack the same brain structure as mammals that they bear no signs of earlier abuse. Iguanas need love just like everything else, from ferrets to pythons, and the book, while solid in the practical sense, needs to stress this even more.

This book will show you whats wrong with your Iguana. And let you know what to do in a situation that you don`t know what to do. This book will help you raise your Iguana, I highly recomend this book
Good for new owners.......2000-10-17
This book would be a good starter book for new iguana owners. It tells you things from their eating habits, changing colors, injuries, temp setting and and so forth.
If you are a new iguana owner or are considering to buy one of these reptiles I would recommend this one to start you off.
