This book lets the beginner know all about aromatherapy. I'm a beginner and it gives more than enough information for me to mix and blend oils for healing. It has a section defining different terms used in aromatherapy. I find this very helpful because I like to know the meaning of words so that I will know what I'm talking about while explaining terms to friends.

Buyer beware - dangerous advice in this book!.......2002-08-01

I don't like to pan books, but unfortunately Jeanne Rose has written a book containing many dangerous recommendations. The Aromatherapy Book is not a good book for anyone but advanced aromatherapy practitioners with a solid knowledge of essential oil safety.

Some of the dangerous suggestions in this book include using highly irritating and sensitizing cinnamon bark oil for head lice, putting sensitizing Peru Balsam on broken and chapped skin, and baths and skin treatment with lemon verbena, an oil so phototoxic and sensitizing that it has been banned in European perfumery. Rose even suggests using sassafras oil and tea without mentioning that both contain a potent carcinogen and are FDA banned.

It's a pity that Rose paid so little attention to safety, because there are some very creative uses of essential oils and lots of interesting stories and history in the book. There are sections on spiritual and emotional uses of essential oils, vendor listings, and a nice chapter on natural perfumery. Just remember that if you choose to buy this book, you must doublecheck all of the essential oil uses against some very reliable safety information.

Indispensable Aromatherapy Primer.......2001-07-21

It was because of this book that I started my avid interest in aromatherapy which led me to taking advanced education with Ms. Rose and gaining my aromatherapy certification.

You will not find alot of recipes in this book, but it is an excellent book for looking up particular essential oils, finding their properties, cautions etc. for both the beginner and advanced aromatherapy student. The aromatherapy reference charts listed in the book are indispensable and there is even a Chakra and Color chart as well. It is direct, and written in layman's terms. I myself have 2 copies of the book because I wore out the first one!

I find Ms. Rose's personal stories that are weaved throughout the book delightful and because of her particular style of writing - have every book that Ms. Rose has ever written.

Aromatherapy Applications and Inhalations.......2001-03-12

I just read a rather scathing review of Ms Rose's book. Quite frankly I have studied with her at a two day intensive. She is one of the leaders in the aromatherapy revolution here in the US and has more published titles on the subject than most in her field. She is a marine botonist by education and is also very, very dedicated to the aromatherapy industry. She helped organize NAHA, the Aromatic Plant Project, and has also done a lot of behind the scenes advocacy work on keeping the ethical standards high of producers of essential oils.

Yes this book is not as well organized as it could be, I believe this is her first attempt at publishing. I use this book in my classroom, because it is a little easier to use than the more techincal books because it is on the primer side which makes it excellent for not blowing away someone who knows nothing of aromatherapy. It is excellent in that its quick references in the front of it are fast and easy to use for identification of the correct eoils on various disorders. I am sorry the reader was disenchanted with the publication. I find Jeannie to be a very matter of fact person who should be getting more recognition for her work in our field. Don't fret over this being out-of-print.......2000-11-19

Rose's self-involved writing style is distasteful and distracting. I could feel her being quite impressed with herself throughout the book--ironically while giving me very little solid information by which to be impressed. The book is organized awkwardly, Rose's text sounds more like she's thinking out loud, and the illustrations are straight out of the sixties giving the whole book an aging-hippie feel to it. If this book had existed thirty years ago, it could have been of some use, but now information on this topic can be found in many other resources in a much more professional manner. Of the dozens of books I have on the topic, I found this offering so lacking I gave it away after I read it.

Tremendous Incite Into the Scottie!.......2003-03-02

The book provides tremendous incite into the Scottish Terrier thanks to the years Miriam Stamm has spent as a breeder, owner and handler of Scotties. In fact, her kennel, Amstamm, is one of the most important breeding kennels in our country for furthering and protecting the breed.
If you own, are interested in or about to acquire a Scottish terrier buy this book.You will not be disappointed.

Disappointing.......2003-01-15

There is a tremendous amount of information in this book that's generic and could apply to any dog breed. I was looking for information specific to the Scottie and was largely disappointed. When I got to the page where the authors talk about when your dog gets to 55 lbs. size, my attention waned -- Scotties are around 20 lbs. full grown! In large portions of the book, you could change the title and pictures, and you would be reading about any dog breed. The book also appeared to be somewhat of an 'infomercial.' It's disappointing in a book of this nature when one is directed to pet products by brand name, which I think challenges the credibility and impartiality of the authors.

A good book but it misses a lot.......2003-10-24

I was looking for a book that would be a complete history of wrestling, but there doesn't seem to be one out there. This book has lots of good photos, including memorabilia such as ads & publicity photos, but there's a lot missing here. Only the briefest of bios are provided (I wish it included at least year of birth, height, weight), some major wrestlers are omitted entirely, & there's no index. Unlike a "real" encyclopedia, most of the book is not arranged alphabetically (only the "Slamographies" section is alphabetized), so an index would be useful. I'm mostly a fan of 1950s - 1960s wrestlers, so I wanted to find information on the old stars, but this book misses some of the biggest attractions of that era (like Haystacks Calhoun). A worthy addition to your wrestling reference library, but will somebody please write a definitive encyclopedia on this subject?

This book is pretty good. It has a lot of really neat picture and tons of good facts and stories. Any wrestling fan should own it. There are several spelling mistakes, however, which make the bok seem like an amateur effort. Overall, still worth reading and owning

If you are a wrestling fan this book is for you!!!.......2001-08-27

The authors of "Professional Wrestling", Kristian Pope and Ray Whebbe have outdone themselves with this one. If you are a wrestling fan, young or old, long time or new, there is something in this book (actually a whole lot of things), to keep you interested for a long time to come. My favorite chapters were the "Ring Beauties" and "Slamographies", the former because there is not a lot of press about the ladies around and over the years they have had a profound influence on the "sport" both in the ring and behind the scenes. The last chapter "Slamographies" tells you every thing you ever wanted to know about every wrestler that has made some sort of impact on the sport. I am going to test my wrestling fan friends with the info presented here and maybe pick up a few bucks in the process. Great Stuff - Thank you Kris & Ray

Overall, a very well researched book by Mr. Pope and Mr. Whebbe. This book does not cover all wrestling collectibles, that would be impossible, however, it does give the collector a good idea of the many areas in wrestling that are out there to collect, although they do have a very in-depth coverage of the action figures and autographs.

The book also covers some of the history of wrestling and is a great book for novices and long-time collectors. There are great photos of some of the older collectibles that I have only heard about. My favorite chapters were the ones on the action figures, trading cards and autographs, which make up a large part of my 15+ year collection.

The prices listed are average, however, the value of the items in this market change so rapidly, that its hard to give a set value on some items. 5 stars to Mr. Pope and Mr. Whebbe for tackling such a huge task.

Collectibles and Then Some.......2000-06-17

Pro Wrestling Collectibles is certainly what this book is all about. Its all the other stuff covered that makes this book so interesting. My favorite chapter is number two (2) "Some Superstars Worth Collecting". The history about many of these wrestlers can be found no where else. The authors did a great job in organizing this "collectible" and putting every thing into perspective. Recommended reading for all wrestling fans!

This is a good book filled with lots of pictures and information. It is a good book for anyone but for the hardcore collector it does not cut it. Aloso the prices are a bit off on certain items. Overall the pictures make it a worthy purchase. Reccommended!

Children not only love to have designs on the walls of their rooms, there is a large body of evidence to indicate that it is also healthy for them. Sensory stimulation at an early age keeps the brain paths active and quite possibly causes more complex and efficient neural pathways to be formed. This book contains a collection of easy to use patterns for childlike images that can be used in a nursery. The images are of clowns, animals, toys and other natural objects. If you are in the planning stages of creating a nursery, then you will find it helpful to look through this book.

The online precedents include one for the provision of facilities to establish a Website, as well as for the exploitation (including over the Internet) of electronic products both directly by way of site licences, and indirectly through intermediaries, such as data hosting service providers, or electronic subscription agents. The full text of all the precedents is provided on floppy disk in ready-to-use word-processing format. Each precedent has an introductory note explaining when it is appropriate to use the precedent, and highlighting relevant areas of law.
