This is the second best book i have found on coaching the 4-3. It would have been better if they would have given a brief description of each term in the glossarys preceding each chapter. This would let you translat your own terminolgy to the book.

I absolutely love this deck. It fits very easily into my hands- it's only slightly bigger than the average deck of playing cards. I really wasn't sure how I was going to feel about these when I ordered them, and even while I was looking through them I had mixed feelings. I have used my Enchantment Deck for years and it was almost as though I was neglecting a friend... But as soon as I started to shuffle this deck I was just like "Wow". I haven't been able to put them down! I still love me Enchantment Deck and use them regularly, but usually just for myself. These are great cards though and the little booklet it comes with is actually quite nice!

One of my earliest Tarot teachers always emphasized that it's not enough to just memorize the "definitions" of each card ~ it's important to explore what you SEE in each card each time. This deck is fabulous for that kind of intuitive reading style.

While the accompanying book is wonderful and thorough in the Tarot definitions and Arthurian legend background that are provided, the cards themselves open up into cinematic scenes that offer insight and guidance that shift with each throw. The deck shimmers with life and with wisdom. It became my favorite the first time I used it.

My favorite and most-used deck!.......2006-06-12

I have read tarot for 23 years, and this is the deck that I use the most. The thing about finding a deck to read with is that you have to find one that speaks to you - one that has images and symbols that resonate with you. As a lifelong lover of the Arthurian Traditions, I have gravitated to all things Arthurian from books to films right down to Tarot decks. I have several that are Celtic/Arthurian but this one has more depth than most. Yes, there's a dark side, but how else are you to balance the light? If you read with an unbalanced deck how can your readings be anything BUT unbalanced? One-sided? These cards are pen/ink and watercolor and even I think a bit of airbrush from time to time - the images take you deeper into Arthurian legend to some of the more obscure legends and lessons within those legends. You don't JUST get to see Gawain and the Green Knight but you get to meet Ragnell and so many others - you get to see through the symbols and colors that blend so well something deeper than simple pentacles or coins/rods or wands/swords/cups or grails......you find the meaning that goes so much deeper and into the crux of the questioner's questions and/or issues at hand. If your love is Arthurian Tradition and you're drawn to such things, this is an amazing deck to use - but it's NOT for beginners.

Beautiful Illustrations/Clouded Divination.......2005-07-09

This set is done very beautifully. I have always been fascinated by the legend of King Arthur. This artist clearly has devoted a great deal of time and effort into this project. She is undoubtedly successful.

As a Tarot for divination, I would not recommend this particular pack. For the collector and Arthurian buff this is superb! Especially the book Keeper of Words. There seem to be some common thread here with the basic mythology and the traditonal tarot. As with many themed decks, this is historically disproven.
Interesting observation on the authors behalf.

The Major Tumps are wonderfully matched with key figures in the Legend. Ms. Ferguson has done an excellent job with this Arthur as the emperor is a given. Morgan La Fey as the Moon is sublime. The colors are all blues, purples and gray giving the overall quality a very otherworldly, sleepy feel.

There is a dark side to this deck. I do not professionally read with this set because it has many dark overtones. This may be fine for some. The backs are not the best in design as well. I would recommend a reprint with a more intricate Celtic motif. These cards themselves are rather flimsy and may chip after numerous readings. No direct fault of the artist.

Maybe it is the Legend itself, it is a nice myth, but should not be used for divination or spiritual seeking. I believe I see the Legend in a new light. It is not a positive one. We find a mishmash of Roman, Pagan Celtic and early Christian all tossed together in a French fairie tale. This says a lot to me. I still like the story. It is more romantic with Ms. Fergusons translation and illustration. It is also interesting to note the she has an illustrated edition of La Morte D'Arthur. This is an excellent companion as well. Perhaps in the future, we can look forward to an animated big screen adaptation by the artist herself.

Enjoyable read with species not readily seen in US.......2007-03-19

This text in my view is directed between marine fish only tanks and reef keeping. Many of the tropical fish listed are from the Australian tropical regions. It also appears the author does not follow Sprung or other cohorts in that he uses equipment that is currently not in fashion for maintaining reefs.

I do agree that a well set up ozone reactor run with the dpd chlorine method is a superior way than ORP control and useful today despite its unpopularity. There are other texts available on this subject but this is an interesting point of view. He appears to adopt established public aquarium techniques to large private marine aquariums. However, I must admit many private aquariums are far superior to many public displays I have encountered, especially concerning sps corals. So I highly recommend the book but do not consider it an exhaustive reference on husbandry techniques, but more of an introduction to well established techniques.

Prepare to learn something!.......2007-03-05

Jay Hemdal's Advanced Marine Aquarium Techniques picks up where most aquarium literature leaves off. Once you've gained a basic understanding of marine aquarium husbandry, reading this book is one of the next steps you should take. I've kept aquariums for well over 20 years, and I find that I keep referring back to this book for answers and solutions I can't seem to find anywhere else.
I really appreciate the fact that, even though this book targets advanced hobbyists and offers in-depth explanations, it's written in easy-to-understand language. You won't find yourself swimming in technical jargon. Also, Hemdal doesn't simply parrot what has been written by others. His conclusions are clearly based on his own extensive professional experience, and he's not afraid to challenge conventional wisdom when necessary.
If you buy this book, be prepared to learn something!

OK, but be careful.......2007-01-12

This is a good book and terrible in others. I would ONLY recommend it for a well read, very advanced aquarist that has a good handle on the hobby already. Some of the advice is WRONG and will harm your system. However, there are also is some good info/ideas that are not available online or in other books (still in print). This is well worth the price _if_ you can sift through the junk to get to them.

The author also needs to get an editor to read the book and fix things like parts of paragraphs that are missing and basic grammer/spelling errors.

AMONG THE VERY BEST.......2007-01-06

Of the 70 or so marine aquarium books I have this is certainly in the top five. There is information here that is simply not easily available from other sources and the book itself is very well written and illustrated. This is not a book for beginers because it assumes a basic level of knowledge and, thankfully, skips over such discussions as the nitrogen cycle, etc. There are few books written in this field that I would read cover to cover, yet this book is compelling and highly informative. I am surprised by how much I've learned from Hemdal's writing and how relevant it all is to my level of interest. Highly recommended!

Book opens up new and interesting ideas.......2006-10-30

Some of us, who followed the advice of our local fish store, never knew there was any other ways to set up a marine aquarium. Thanks to this book, which I have had only a little over 2 weeks, it is dog eared, has writing in the margins, and some highlighting- things I want to try, research on the animals I may like to keep. Using different ways to keep marine animals is just the book I needed to acquire. Thumbs up to the author who writes in down to earth language and easy to understand explainations. You won't be disappointed!

Worth every penny for arborists and homeowners alike.......2006-06-01

Printed by Oxford University Press, Pirone's Tree Maintenance has the heft and durability to withstand countless consultations. The text is informative beyond measure and very readable. The photography is black-and-white and didn't reproduce all that well, especially for small and detailed items; photos range from 'Fig. 7-15. Brush chipper and dump truck' (oh please...) to a hollowed-out, decayed Silver Maple resting comfortably on what appears to be a four-bedroom Dutch Colonial (illustrating the section on Identifying Hazard Trees). Good section on insects and diseases (with the caveat that the photos aren't that great); excellent tree-specific section. You will learn a lot from this book--it's a must if you want to rely on another source besides the local tree guy with a chainsaw.

Another book on my Horticulture Short List.......2005-08-30

Pirone's Tree Maintenance (Seventh Edition) is one of about a half dozen books I keep within arms reach. While Parts I and II provide a fantastic amount of information on the care of trees and identifying problem, it is Part III that I use the most. This section lists common insects, diseases, and problems associated with specific tree species. While by no means comprehensive, it is an excellent place to start when trying to figure out what is going on with a tree.

Like any such book, be careful when looking at the pesticide recomendations. Chemicals come and go and the labels change (and the authors remind you of that). There are several products that are off the market that are listed in this book.

Practical introduction for the novice arborist.......2000-05-25

This classic text gives a broad introduction to the field of tree management, including common health problems associated with trees and practical advice for solving them. It is an excellent primer for the novice arborist.

Well-written guide.......2007-05-17

This book is a well-written guide to using LaTeX for typesetting mathematics. A very nice feature is that it indicates which commands are from the AMSMath package (in case that package will be unavailable in your environment). I would imagine the book is especially useful if you are just getting started in LaTeX and don't know where to start. It covers a wider range of LaTeX than the AMSMath user's guide (although that user's guide has more depth with AMSMath features). The appendices are also very useful, with a list of common commands and characters and so on. Buy this if the AMSMath user's guide isn't enough.

I have purchased more than five books about Latex. Even though I have not read all the chapters in this book, I think this book will be on my desk along with Lamport's book when I write papers in Latex.

A very nice intro book for those of you out there trying to put your write ups in Latex. This book has a good way of explaining things like how you can tackle the writing. I am really happy using this book.

An absolute must!.......2005-10-19

To review this book you don't need a lot of words: it is simply a must. Nobody interested in publishing articles on maths can live without this book.
Every topic is extensively covered and many examples are provided.

Nearly indispensable.......2005-02-04

I say "nearly" because pretty much everything in the book can be found on the web in some form or another. When I was a LaTeX beginner, though, I found it much easier to learn things from a book than by downloading lots of files and trying to sort through them or by bookmarking webpages. As a more experienced LaTeX user, I find it is sometimes handy to have a book with sticky-note markers you can flip to when you are trying to remember how to make the symbol you want instead of trying to look up a cheat sheet on the web. Good for beginners, and good to grow into, as I doubt you'll jump into BibTeX and indexes right away. I didn't, but I was glad to have those sections when I needed them. I am also glad to see that some material on PDF has been added in this edition, though I wouldn't be able to comment on it as my edition is older.

Compared to what I paid when I bought a previous edition, this is a steal for such a useful book.

In this collection of fifteen essays, Jewish Latin American writers speak for themselves about their lives, their literary work, their formative experiences, and the Jewish communities in Latin America and the United States. Included are writers from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, and Venezuela, about half of whom live outside their country of origin. With the exception of Alberto Gerchunoff, arguably the father of Jewish Latin American writing, all the writers are living and writing actively.

King David's Harp is unified by a constant sense of motion. José Kozer and Ilan Stavans, for example, give the impression of being in perpetual motion. Many, including Ariel Dorfman and Alcina Lubitch Domecq, have changed countries, languages, political systems; others, like Ricardo Feierstein and Margo Glantz remain in their country of birth. Most are multilingual. Some, Marjorie Agosín and Alberto Gerchunoff, for example spoke Yiddish as their first language, only to become deeply attached to Spanish later on, or Portuguese, in the case of Moacyr Scliar. All these complex individuals move back and forth among different worlds, in circumstances that could be seen as restrictive, frustrating, and unforgiving. Yet they write with prodigious energy of lives that contain many surprises.

A Book on Experiences of the Marginalized, "Other.".......2003-01-23

This collection of essays is an important work for all minorities who want to introspectively examine their own place in a multicultural society. While the focus is on the Latin American experience, the authors address themes of displacement, longing, belonging, marginalization, prejudice, immigrant- inter-generational conflicts, and change. It also provides insight, and hopefully empathy, on these same topics for those of the established majority culture. The book also raises the questions about the goals of a multi-cultural society, and if assimilation is a worthy goal in the view of the majority and the, "other."

A good book with great historical and political impact.......1999-10-15

This book is a very important piece of literature. It is entertaining as well as historically relevant and informative.

This book takes a look at the lives of the diaspora in Latin America. It's an amazing collection of short stories by some of the most talented writers in Latin America.

They come from different countries and different cultures, but share the thread of being Jewish in a different world. Some are transplanted, some have always lived in Latin America.

This book opened my eyes to the life, the struggles and happinesses of the Jews who live and work in South America. I think everyone should read this book.

The history contained in this book is amazing. Most of the gentiles that I know have no idea about this part of history. We were not taught it in school. Can you imagine fleeing persecution in your homeland, finding yourself in a strange country with strange food, language, and customs, and down the street from you live the war criminals who forced you to flee?

Not all the short stories in this book are a great read, but they are all very important. It's a voice that should be heard!
