Very Helpful Tool!.......2005-05-27

This is one of the most helpful tools in my library. Muller defines key Latin theological terms that you will read in key importantant works of dogmatics. He doesn't just give the simply definition, but also writes about its historical significance in the development in the history of doctrine. At the end of entry Muller gives significant cross-references of other Latin terms. This work opens up the rich history of thought in the church and is easily understood. This is a great tool for any student of theology, layman or pastor. You don't need to know Latin to profit by this book. I highly recommend this book!

I thought it was a collection of original Japanese designs. The editor apparently took it upon herself to redraw them, and that is what's contained herein. The designs end up diminished, weaker than the traditional crisp oriental linework. I would return it if possible. Very disappointed.

a decent reference for tattooing.......2003-03-22

If quanity and quick reference for tattooing is what you're looking for, look no further. Be warned though the illustrations are pretty weak in a lot of areas, so be ready to redraw! But there are tons of floral designs (especially lotus) and simple designs that are invaluable for a tattooer. So as far as an excellent source on traditional japanese art it is not, but it could be handy in the shop.

A wonderful book series that is both entertaining and educational for kids. Author Mike Miller with his background in Disney films shows he also has an aptitude for both writing and drawing. Play in the Clouds is a wonderfully illustrated portrayal of the illustrious Mt. Charleston. Delightfully mixed with educational storylines and playful character dialogue, Play in the Clouds is a great book for parents and teachers of young children.

Mirei Shigemori (1896â€“1975), a historian trained in painting and ikebana, is increasingly admired for his contemporary Japanese garden designs. Modernizing the Japanese garden.......2007-06-18

Being quite new to Japanese garden architecture I first try to learn and understand what's done and what's not done and the reasons behind it. This book immediately shows you why Shigemori is a so much respected innovator in his time and at the same time explains you why by referring to the classical Japanese gardens. His point of view is that a Japanese garden should fit into the time we are living in. And up until than, Japanese gardens had not changed much. Newer gardens used to be copies of the old methods instead of innovations. This work opens your mind about this and stimulates you to develop the concept of the Japanese garden into something which is more modern/timebound and more a creation of yourself.
An absolute 'mustread' for people that like the Japanese garden.
