Cattle in the Cotton Fields is a wonderful account of thecattle history in Alabama. I was very impressed by the writing ofMr. Blevins. I highly recommend it to anyone who might be interested in the subject matter.

This book is excellent for the beginner to expert. Trout outlines time tested techniques and strategies, while breaking the monotony of a how-to manual by incorporating stories of the hunt that make you yearn for the spring season. I picked up many good strategies that I will use while hunting turkeys.

lost for words.......2003-07-01
I visited some friends of mine in Norway about a year ago and got this book before i went . It really was not any help to me though . Most of the words that are in it are out dated and not used in Norway today . I also tried to use this dictionary to translate letters that my friends had sent and it is more confuseing than helpful . Might be ok for someone that speaks Norwegian , but for an English speaker i find to be no real help .

I visited some friends in Norway a year ago and am planning on returning for a longer stay soon . I got this book before my first visit and it really was not any help . It has few words that i need and most of the words that it does have are out dated and are rarely used in Norway today . Also when i try to translate any letters from my Norwegian friends i find that this dictionary confuses me more than helps . Might be good for someone who knows Norwegian and needs English words , but not very good for english to norsk .
Never could find the right word.......2003-03-09
I took this dictionary on a trip to Norway. It seemed as if every word that we tried to look up was not in the dictionary. From ingredients to road signs we were clueless. We had a lovely trip, but the dictionary was not a help; it's just doesn't have enough words.

I travelled to Norway in the summer of 2000. Because I am from Copenhagen, Denmark, originally, I knew that anybody there who knew Norwegian would also be able to understand Danish. This is however an awkward situation for both speakers of the languages due to several pronunciation changes, and it can be said jokingly that Norwegians sometimes can't understand Danes. If you are a speaker of Norwegian, Swedish, or Danish, the book probably won't cause much trouble. Even English speakers are surprised on occasion to learn that almost everybody who speaks one of those three languages natively also knows English. But, if you are determined to learn the language, this dictionary will serve as a great source of vocabulary. It would be best for travel, though; students who seek the grammatical aspects of the language should try another dictionary. The words listed are commonly heard, and this book boosts Norwegian vocabulary greatly. There are also sections on food, conversion tables, and short grammar tables, although the latter are not very well explained. For the price, this is a very good selection to choose.
A Great Help.......2000-11-19
I am Norwegian and this year I went there to see the family and all. I brought along this book, and it helped me a whole lot. It even had a nice blank place at the back where you could write the words you learned along the way. It helped me a whole lot!

Unfortunately, this is the only small Norwegian-English dictionary that I know of .......2007-06-27
As far as I know, this is the only pocket-sized Norwegian-English dictionary available. It has 319 pages, special sections for food and drinks, numbers, and telling time. There is a useful but limited English to Norwegian mini-grammar which includes 3 1/2 pages of irregular verbs and a concise explanation of using articles with nouns. The grammar is missing some simple key information, such as how to form the past and future tense of regular verbs.
The Norwegian to English 'g' section of the dictionary starts with "gi". Apparently, the first part of the 'g' section was cut out by the editor. Very strange. I wonder what else is missing from the book.
Einar Haugen's Norwegian-English dictionary doesn't have much grammar but is a far more comprehensive and useful dictionary than this one. It is not pocket-sized, however and does not have an English to Norwegian section.

THE single best reference for Exotics.......2002-05-07
This is it. The best resource for exotic livestock, period. Although it focuses on Texas, the information contained herein is applicable to most regions. It goes into great detail regarding land carrying capacity, fencing requirements, nutritional needs and health concerns/diseases/parasites. The history of exotics in Texas is examined, as well as distribution of various species throughout the state. But the real appeal of this book is the depth in which individual species are detailed. The most popular hoofstock are here, of course: axis, fallow, red and sika deer; blackbuck, addax, scimitar, nilgai and eland antelope; ibex, mouflon; markhor and aoudad sheep/goats; and many other species that are either failed experiments or novelties.
Whether you're a student doing research or a farmer/rancher looking for a way to escape the heartache/headache of cattle, this is the best book you could hope to find.
A very useful reference........2002-04-26
We have read and reread parts of this book. It is an excellent reference. We raise Red Deer, Axis Deer, Blackbuck Antelope, Fallow Deer, Whitetail Deer and Barbado Sheep and all are covered very well by the book. In addition, the book helped me to calculate the carrying capacity of our ranch.

I purchased this book over 20 years ago. This is a fantastic book of Steam Engine engravings. You won't find a better collection (at least I haven't.)
Early American Locomotives........2002-12-30
This book is a collection of engravings from the 19th Century, each with minimal history. It is an absolute gem , a cache of information about locomotives from before the era of manufacturers photographs. Engravings were used as illustration in sales literature and publicity material, and so a wide variety of locomotive types are depicted covering more or less 1800-1900. The accuracy of the engravings is superb-in some cases it is possible to scale from an engraving to determine pipe sizes, nut bolt diameter etc. For the price this book cannot be beaten.

A Must for NC gardeners.......2001-10-29
For anyone who is interested in gardning in NC, this book is a must. Most gardinging books would only concentrate on how good the plant is. BUt this book also tells us some of the "problems" one might have with the plants and what kind of pests/diseases a plant might be susceptible to. I should have given 5-Stars for this book. The reason I did not give is the indexing is a bit confusing -- the botanical and common names are used in mixed mode. This is not a big problem though, once you get used to the book.
Again, this book is a must for all gardeners in NC -- experience as well as novices.
Excellent book for North Carolina gardeners.......1997-11-12
This book has been very helpful for me in choosing, planting and understanding how to take care of annuals, perennials, groundcovers, shrubs, trees, bulbs, vines and herbs that will grow well in North Carolina. The choices at a gardening center can be overwhelming, but Tony Bost's advice can help you focus on plantings that have a good chance to succeed in a N.C. garden. I especially like the great detail that goes into the exact way to plant your selection, and the maintenance of the plant, so that you know how often and with what to fertilize the plant, and how to water and prune it. Tony Bost has also included up to date information on new cultivars that are being developed and relies a lot on excellent research that is currently being done at the Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh.
