The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland 2006.......2006-11-04
Even after having been to Disneyland several times I found this book helpful. It definitely gave us some good tips and advice that we followed.
It's a keeper!!!.......2006-07-03
This book was so full of information. It addressed every age group and the best ways to see Disneyland depending on the ages and numbers in your party. It provides helpful dining tips, tips on when to see certain attractions and hotel information. We have made reservations and can't wait to go to Disneyland with the whole family. It is a quick and easy read with lots of humor and differing points of view.
Perfect Trip!.......2006-06-14
We went in a group of about 10 to Disneyland and found the guide to be very helpful in decideing which rides to go on. We took the book's advice to arrive early and get on the big rides first. Our group was ahead of the rush everytime. What is great about the guide is that it gives you ratings for each ride. I am a scardy-cat when it comes to rides so I made sure what type of ride it was and saw if it had the potential to really scare me. The kids in our group were very adventurous and got on all the rides! I think the author did a good job explaining that the guide is not a fit for everyone and that each visitor should tailor the advice to their needs. It also gave information on California Adventure, as well as dining information in both parks. The most helpful tid-bit: Alcohol is not served in Disneyland but is sold in California Adventure. :)
Disneyland for Preschoolers.......2006-05-01
Our sole intention was to survive Disney with our 4-year-old and this guide helped us do it. What was particularly invaluable was the ratings for preschoolers from scary to mild, which helped us plot our course. We followed the Dumbo-or-Die one-day chart pretty closely and it worked -- and the strategies for 2 parents/one child and line-splitting to save time. A big glitch, however, was in the character dining section. The inside "scoop" phone number for reservations was very helpful. However, the book does not state, that for the "princess" meal at Ariel's Grotto, you have to have a hopper pass to get into the other park, California Adventure, which is where the Princess meal was held. That was the high-point of the day. California Adventure Park also had the Disney Playhouse show and Bug's Land, which was great. So, if you have a little princess of your own, you should take the Magic Kingdom suggestions for the morning, have lunch at the Magic Kingdom and then head over to California Adventure for the above suggestions, finishing with dinner at Ariel's Grotto. So use the book to merge and pick the best from both parks for the one-day tour. Definitely buy the book and make sure to take it, and a highlighter, with you to the park for any last-minute changes or insights.
Not as good as WDW version, but still excellent.......2006-03-29
I'm a relatively frequent traveler to Walt Disney World in FL, and I usually buy the Unofficial Guide to WDW when I'm planning a trip. It's invaluable! The resort and restaurant guides give excellent help in choosing where to stay & eat, and of course the touring plans save us many minutes per day when we're not standing in line for attractions. I haven't been to Disneyland yet (we're going this week!), so I don't know yet how well the touring plans work, but I'm a little disappointed in the lack of other information. There are no guest ratings or reviews for restaurants, and the restaurant descriptions are pretty thin. I'm still glad I bought the book, but I think the authors need to beef it up just a tad.

Customer Reviews:
good book, easy to use.......2007-05-17
this book was very helpful. Easy to find what you need to know, good photos. Extremely practical for goldfish owners or wannabes
"Once You Get Started You're Easily Hooked".......2005-10-21
An overview of goldfish and their needs for beginners, Spencer Glass' slim volume is written in a relaxed and sometimes amusing style, and gives one some of the basics for keeping goldfish healthy and happy. Though not a thorough guidebook, it is better than some other books I've seen, and has enough information to get one going and not make mistakes that could harm or kill your fish. As he states in the introduction, "The purpose of this book is not to turn you into a goldfish expert," but give one a start, and as a primer, it is quite good.
Mr. Glass briefly describes 1: Natural History, and how goldfish became goldfish. 2: Keeping Goldfish, with all the proper and necessary equipment. 3: Water Quality and "new tank syndrome." 4: Feeding, and the dangers of overfeeding. 5: Goldfish Diseases, and the dreaded Ichthyophthirius. 6: Pondkeeping, with 2 photos of huge koi. 7: Varieties of Goldfish, with many nice photos, and 8, a short half page on breeding, which of course, if you intended to do, would take a lot more information.
Like many before me have, I started out foolishly buying a gallon-sized bowl, and placing 4 tiny comet goldfish in it. 3 of them almost immediately went to fish heaven, and the fourth stayed at the bottom of the bowl, hardly moving. With the help of this book and some internet surfing, I have learned a lot in a short time, and that one surviving goldfish is now twice the size, a delight to watch, in a good sized tank with proper water conditions, and with a pretty companion fantail. Goldfish are intelligent creatures, and can be lively, aesthetically pleasing additions to the family and home.
Worthless rubbish.......2005-09-16
Waste of money-I would have rather spent my money on a lotto ticket; at least I would have had a chance in gaining something. Tells you nothing informative, and nothing useful, the pictures are even bad.
Amazing book!.......2005-09-02
This book provides excelent information in a very easy to understand and entertaining ways to those who wants to start their hoby with goldfish.
A helpful guide, but not comprehensive.......2003-11-02
Of what this guide to goldfish contains, it does a good job, but it is not thorough enough to be considered comprehensive. Examples of what the book discusses are natural history, equipment, filtration (including the important nitrogen cycle), water quality, feeding, diseases, and varieties of goldfish. There are brief sections on pondkeeping and breeding. The color photographs of the different types of goldfish are interesting. Surprisingly, this guide does not contain any information on the selection of live or artificial plants. Even though the information in this book is helpful, the lack of comprehensiveness is disappointing. Actually, I rate this guide 2.5 stars.

I am a veteran bonsai enthusiast and have been using this book for many years. It is also a good beginner's guide with clear instructions as well as color and black and white illustrations.
Aerial roots on fig trees........1997-03-22
This is a general book on bonsai, covering both temperate
and tropical species. It is the only published book I know
of that gives detailed instructions on how to grow aerial
roots on tropical fig trees kept as bonsai. This book has
only black and white photographs, and most of them are not
very artistic.

Book Description
A group of biblical and patristic scholars and palaeographers met in Lunel, Herault, in June 1995 to discuss the many questions posed by Codex Bezae to our understanding of the use of the Gospels and Acts in early Christianity, and of the text of the New Testament. This collection makes the papers and debates of the colloquium available for a wider discussion. The papers cover two broad areas. The first addresses palaeographical questions. The second covers textual matters, subdivided between the Gospels and Acts. The 24 contributors include J.N. Birdsall, J. Irigoin, L. Holtz, B.D. Ehrman, M.W. Holmes, J.K. Elliott, J.M. Auwers and M.-E. Boismard. There is an introduction by the editors, who also provide analyses of each main section. The range of interests represented by the participants and by the papers has already stimulated fresh developments.
Book Description
One of the most popular Macintosh books ever written,
The Mac is not a typewriter has been called the "Strunk and White of typography." Best-selling author
Robin Williams's simple, logical principles for using type to produce beautiful, professional documents are as true now as they were when the original edition was published in 1989. This updated edition includes new examples and expanded information dedicated to the practical advice that made the first edition an enduring bestseller. Throughout, Robin shows you the small details that separate the pros from the amateurs: typographer versus typewriter quotation marks, en and em dashes, tabs and indents, kerning, leading, white space, widows and orphans, and hanging punctuation. If you prepare documents, you'll find
The Mac is not a typewriter, Second Edition an indispensable guide. And those who read your documents will recognize the work of a pro, even if they don't know a curly quote from curly fries.
Customer Reviews:
Still Great........2007-03-21
I bought the first edition of this book when it came out, and I just bought this copy of the second edition because I wanted it.
This book is an extremely valuable reference book. If you follow the pricniples set forth in this book, your documents will look professional.
Robin Williams if the premier author of Macintosh books, and of books on design. All of her works are more than worth the price.
A quick and easy read for every writer who cares about looking professional........2007-01-13
I'm reminded of Shunk and White's "Elements of Style". Short, correct, and invaluable. That's what Robin William's book is for people who care about the look of their written word on a computer. It's easy to make your work look professional and "The Mac is Not a Typewriter" shows you how.
short read, great information.......2006-11-16
For first time mac users, this book is a must! It has great pointers and tips to understand some things most people don't know. It shows you differences in symbols, and shows you key commands that are useful and helpful. I learned a lot from this book.
It's still here! .......2006-03-26
I am so glad this book is still around! I had forgotten what a great, useful, overview of basic typographic principles this "little gem" is.
I teach a Graphic Design class for non-Graphic Design majors in an art college. I was stunned to see most of the students putting two spaces after periods in a book they were making in my class. I explained why this was uneccessary (and in fact wrong) with most typefaces available on the computer, and they said they had all learned this in computer classes in the various high schools they had attended.
I unearthed my copy of this book (from 1990!) and brought it in the next week. Some students went to Amazon right away and bought it. Their work improved markedly.
I will make this a required text for the class next year, and advise anyone looking to learn the basics of good, typographic layout to purchase this wonderful little book.
Must Have Book.......2006-02-07
This is a must have easy to read book that Mac users should have in their library. It provides helpful tips on how to make your designs look professional and help out with the work flow.

Book Description
Tech journalist Pamela Pfiffner explores the rich history behind the modern publishing revolution, as seen through the lens of one of its most important players. In the past 20 years, Adobe Systems has become synonymous with great design tools, and the company's impact on how we work in publishing, graphic arts, and on the Web is unmatched. Join Pfiffner on a colorful journey from the roots of the desktop publishing revolution through the rise of the Web and interactive design. Along the way, you'll witness the birth and evolution of PostScript, the explosion of the Photoshop market, the realization of the paperless office, and other events that have shaped the way we communicate.
Inside the Publishing Revolution is not one of those dull historical tomes you know and loathe from high school. Pfiffner packs its pages with lively, insightful interviews with world-class designers and illustrators, as well as personal insights and recollections from John Warnock, Chuck Geschke, Jonathan Seybold, and other publishing luminaries. Richly illustrated and beautifully designed, the book features galleries of historically significant work by leading artists and rare photographs from the Adobe archives. For added perspective, Pfiffner walks you through an illustrated timeline of the publishing revolution. As with history, the final chapter of the Adobe story remains to be written, so the book ends with an eye toward the future: an exclusive overview of the company's vision of publishing in the next decade.
