Looks like a useful book.......2005-10-30

The proof lies in eating the pudding. And, when it comes to reviewing and buying travel books on New York, there are so many titles that jostle for your attention that you have a difficult time trying to settle on one book. It is not uncommon to find yourself flitting from one title to another trying to figure out which one of these books will meet your needs. So, I went through an excruciating process before selecting this book. The book appears to cover all the basics, and is easy to navigate.

My initial dekho and perusal of the book shows that it is compact, well written, and a handy one. The best way to use the book, as I see it is, is to keep this book as a reference, and use Google or other sites to create your travel plans.

correction/amendment to previous review.......1999-05-11

I previously stated that the pictures used in this edition were previously published. This statement is in error. The confusion arose because many tractors included have been seen in other works. The author assures me that these pictures are all new issues.

A must-have book for the Ford tractor collector/restorer.......1999-02-10

Although there may be a few minor details subject to scrutiny, this work meets an important need. Replete with color and B/W photos, the authors point out the differences between the various Ford N-models, and attempt to illustrate the important details to be considered when restoring these tractors. Paint details, variations in models and years, options, and anomalies are described in detail. As with many Motorbooks International publications, there is a tendancy to use oft-published photos, but this is not a major concern. A section on the popular Sherman auxiliary transmissions includes a table of various gear ratios and speed ranges. Original and aftermarket reproduction aprts are compared and the appendix includes a pretty thorough list of suppliers. While this book is not the final authority on the subject, it is by far the best thing yet to come out on this topic. Highly recommended.

This book is written for dog owners, breeders, and veterinarians. Topics include common skeleton lesions that affect the growth of many large breeds of dogs: osteochondroses, elbow dysplasia and hip dysplasia. The text is easily understandable and there are many x-rays to illustrate both normal and affected. Also discusssed are the genetic aspects of these diseases as well as the contributing nutritional and enviromental factors. Reference is made through out the text to the fact that breeding for increased size, increased early growth, along with nutrition and exercise absolutely impacts the development of these bone and joint diseases. The authors are responsible for the Wind/Morgan Program for Labradors at UC Davis: genetic screening of breeding stock with submission to the open database of The Institute of Genetic Disease Control in Animals (GDC). This book belongs in the library of anyone who undertakes the breeding of dogs.
