An important tool in understanding leadership..........2000-05-02

This book will challenge much of what you might have already learned/experienced as an athlete and/or coach, especially with respect to certain sports, such as football. Although Mr. Thompson's book is centered on his experiences while coaching high school girls basketball for two seasons, his lessons pervade beyond the gym. The chapters pertaining to sharing power with players (or students, or employees) and visualization are particularly strong. He weaves in relevant and occasionally humorous analogies and anecdotes (often in the format of diary entry interludes) in cementing key concepts. Do not bother reading this book if you remain steadfast in your admiration for Bobby Knight's coaching style, as this book's message is more in tune with Phil Jackson's (he even wrote the foreword). Enjoy!

Not As Great As Expected.......2007-03-16

I admit it. I'm not a big fan of Elaine Costello. It seems to be that a lot of the signs in this book are English...not ASL. Of course, there aren't that many books out there about legal sign language, so it is helpful to a point. Just make sure before you start using the signs that they are true ASL signs and not Signed English.

Basic information, some good photos.......1999-10-25

While I find this book enjoyable because it is about my favorite breed, I feel that a lot more photos of the different point colors could have been included. Also, a little more information on the different "types" of Siamese, such as applehead, classic, or wedge would have been interesting. The author implies that exhibitors are breeding problems within the breed by breeding for a "wedge" type, but neglects to say what type of problems and I came away with the impression that she does not approve of the show standard for Siamese. Several good photos of show type Siamese are included however. Overall it is a good book which perhaps just needs to be updated.

Waste of time and money.......2005-08-12

This book will tell you absolutely nothing you can't learn for free by reading the eBay tutorials and looking at couple of sports card message boards (beckett, sportscardsheriff, etc).

The information presented is of the most basic nature and is repeated many times, often on the same page. It became quite obvious after reading the first two chapters that the author was struggling to "pad" the page count of this book.

I am not an expert in sports collecting by any means, in fact I just started this year. However, if you just follow the advice in my first paragraph, you will have acquired the knowledge in this book many times over.

If you're still not convinced, go to your local bookstore and flip through this book, you'll see what I mean fairly quickly.

Good book for the starters........2004-11-19

Good book if you just start to use ebay, but it is not offer much to e-bay users that are already familiar with standard features in e-bay. For example if you like to know, how to use web site to add pictures to your listing or like to know, how to write HTML to make your listing more organized, this book would not help. however, I will keep this book in my liberary as a referance for a few tips that I found usefull.

In They Call Me Agnes, the narrator, Agnes Deernose, provides a warm, personal view of Crow Indian family life and culture.

Fred Voget, anthropologist and adopted Crow, sets the stage for Agnes's story, which he compiled from extensive interviews with Agnes and her friends. He describes the origins of the Crows and their culture during buffalo-hunting days and early reservation life. Through Agnes, an elderly Crow woman, he also reveals changes wrought on this once far-ranging, independent tribe by twentieth-century forces.

Early Reservation Days Narrative.......2000-06-22

"They Call Me Agnes" is a very personal recount of the life of Agnes Yellowtail Deernose, a Crow woman growing up in the first few generations of reservation Indians. The book is centered around the accounts of Agnes, although the author took some liberties in inserting historical information from field research. Because the book is not about the tribe as a whole, it is not ideal for learning about the Crow as a whole, but is a wonderful resouce for gaining insight on the impact that the enstatement of reservations had on Indian life and the struggles that were faced. The book deals with changing lifestyles and struggles montetarily, religiously and racially. Be aware that because the editor was from anthropolical background, there may be some misinterpretations of things due to the scientific way of looking at things. Other good books to read if you are interested in the interview format dealing with Crow Indians are "Two Leggings" (Peter Nabokov), "Pretty Shield" and "Plenty Coups" (both Frank Bird Linderman). Other books about the Crow written by native writers: "APPSALOOKE Yesturday and Today" (Smith and Old Coyote)

They Call Me Agnes--a brief summary.......2000-01-22

Agnes Deernose tells in the first person the story of her life and the culture of the Crow Indians on their reservation in Montana. It begins in the days of buffalo-hunting, and reveals how the Crow accepted the inevitable changes brought by the 20th Century.

The book describes family life, social life, education, religion, and how the Crow supported the Baptist Church. Agnes gives some interesting intimate details of her life.

Fred was an anthropologist and an adopted Crow. He became well acquainted with the Crow Indians, and this story is the result of extensive personal interviews with Agnes.
