O.k. but missing a section.......2006-07-16
I purchased this book, trusting Fodor's guides to be as helpful as they have in the past, for a trip to France. I was stunned to discover that it has nothing on Ronchamp, Besancon, or Franche Comte at all, even though one of the offerings for kids refers to a town there, which is not in the book. Since we went to Ronchamp and Besancon, it was particularly distressing. I also did not find Limoges and some other towns in the index. I checked some other guides in the airport bookshop and they did include these places. So before buying this book, I suggest you check it to be sure it covers all the places you plan to go. Or maybe just get another one till they fix it.
good.......2006-06-28
All the Fodars books seem to be good. Lots of info. We've gone to a few locations since buying the book and they have worked out well so far.

Not for the first time traveler.......2007-03-09
I bought this one, and also the Frommer's Paris guides. This book would be perfect for the frequent Paris traveler, that has already seen all the major tourist attractions and wants to get more information for the best and out-of-the-way dining, shopping, and hotels. It's very consise in those areas, but definately not for the first time traveler.
As always, Fodor's delivers ..........2006-11-22
An excellent resource! As promised, the book lists a wide range of attractions and activities in all price ranges. Gives a lot of background to help make the city's history come alive!
A guide for experienced travelers.......2005-10-12
I've been to Paris many times, but needed a guidebook with up to date hours, closing days, and infrastructure changes. This one was perfect. It has no glossy pictures or basics, and would not be the best guidebook for a first time traveller. The quality of the categories and logical layout makes it well worthwhile.
Book Description
In the third edition of this highly regarded text, Sonja Foss continues the tradition of providing a comprehensive and comprehensible introduction to rhetorical criticism. She illustrates her discussion of foundational topics with a wide variety of well-chosen, engaging essays. Many of the essays new to this edition probe both familiar and unfamiliar ideologies looming in contemporary society. Foss's clearly written introductions and the inclusion of student essays are appealing features for both undergraduate and graduate instruction. The final outcome of rhetorical criticism is a contribution to the improvement of our abilities as communicators and listeners.

not bad.......2002-05-20
Bassically, if you have to learn about Rhetorical Criticism, this is the best book. It makes even some of the hardest methodologies such as FTA, postmodern abnd more seem easy to understand. What is even better, this bbok will show you how to apply these theories to an artifact. Good Luck.
A Best Textbook for a Course on Rhetorical Criticism.......2001-08-24
I have used Sonja Foss' RHETORICAL CRITICISM: EXPLORATION & PRACTICES as a textbook for my Rhetorical Criticism class in the past three consecutive years. Among many other choices of textbooks, I find this one to have more strength and most suited for my students and my teaching style. First, the layout of the book is very easy for students to approach. It proceeds from traditional to current modes of rhetorical criticism, which gives the reader a sense of theoretical development in the field of rhetoric and communication. It covers both the mainstream as well as marginalized ideologies and frameworks in rhetorical formulations. Second, for each mode of rhetorical criticism, Sonja Foss offers a lucid explanation of the rhetorical concepts, the purpose of the critiques, and steps to follow in writing a critical essay. While the procedure tends to be prescriptive, it also allows great flexibility in the writing process. Students like this approach, for it gives them a sense of direction as to how to analyze sysmbols and rhetorical acts as well as allowing them to be more critical and creative. Third, what students and I like most are the sample articles following each mode of criticism. These articles, written by scholars as well as Foss' former students, help the reader understand in depth rhetorical concepts and apply theoretical models to symbolic practices and real life situations. Finally, this textbook does not only teach our students rhetorical concepts and modes of critical inquiry, it also allows students to make a close connection between rhetoric and their real life experiences. By the time we finish each mode of criticism, students are all eager to write their own essays and find the process very meaningful and illuminating. In sum, I highly recommend Sonja Foss' RHETORICAL CRITICISM: EXPLORATION & PRACTICES as a college textbook for rhetorical crititcism class. I am sure once you start using the book, you do not want to change to another one.

A Great Book for All Students of Rhetoric.......2001-08-09
I have used "Rhetorical Criticism" in my classes for over two years. The book is a great resource for all students of rhetoric, at both the undergraduate and graduate level. The organization of the book is it greatest asset for students of human communciation: a clear explanation of the method, followed by sample essays both by undergraduate students and expert scholars of rhetoric.
Rhetorical Criticism as Art and Symbolic Action.......2001-08-07
Foss entices the reader to explore a variety of dimensions of the analytic activity known as rhetorical criticism. She captures the ingenity and imagination of seeing the world through a rhetorical prism of interacting symbols. Ranging from the analysis of images to music to language instrumental in shaping political discourse, the text provides an extraordinary guide to viewing the symbols that compel our public and private interests. The strength of her approach is exemplified in the sytematic procedures she offers to begin the practice and appreciation of criticism. Novices are given clear steps to follow and veterans can find new ways of examining artifacts and generating questions based on the goals of their inquiry. I give this text my highest recommendation; Foss'examination of artifacts and reseach questions continues to generate lively classroom discussions and ignites the imaginations of students who may not be eager initially to undertake the tasks of rhetorical criticism.

Book Description
The twenty-four true stories in this book show that animals have their own individual personalities, likes and dislikesand, often, spiritual lessons to share. In fact, Dr. Ogden-Avrutik believes that animals can be spiritual gifts, put in our path to help us grow. Time after time, she and her human clients are granted surprising insights into the wisdom and emotional life of the animals they love. These heartwarming stories celebrate the loving bond between humans and their animal companions, and show what wonders are possible when we stop to listen to what our animal friends have to tell us.

Opened my eyes to what animals experiance.......2005-03-24
I didn't think this book was going to change my perspective of animals lives as it did. It's more than just a book of cute stories. I helped me to see that our animal friends do have thoughts and feelings and it's important that we treat them with respect. Since I have used Kim's communication services to help me with my dogs during illness and other life situations. She has a wonderful gift. I recommend this book to everyone!
what a load of dingos kidneys.......2005-03-14
"I want to be called Pete!" (Dr. Kim was able to tell Pete's human friend, Lorrie, what he really wanted to be called).
You honestly want me to believe that someone can talk with animals, or rather they can form coherent thoughts and communicate back? If this was so then I would give up eating animals and join PETA in a heart beat.
Using the clever `new age' device of `anecdotal evidence' you can prove most things. I received in the mail recently a flyer with the startling news of an immortality bracelet that just uses magnets to prevent sickness, and they had reams of anecdotal evidence backing them up. This book is much the same, personal testimonies describing `success stories' with animal communication in the hope that you'll consult the author for more help (not free of course).
No doubt the author has talent, and has identified a useful niche for herself, and she definitely has skills with animal behavior that isn't wrong. But to have us believe she can talk with animals, please give us a break.
Pearls of Wisdom from our 4 legged companions.......2003-10-27
This book should be read by all who revere and respect their animal companions. It helps your mind open up to your pets as much as your heart already has. The stories in this book reveal the integrity of canine/feline/etc. spirits by demonstating the intelligence and honesty these wonderful creatures express to those who have learned how to hear them. With Dr. Kim's help, I see my own animals differently now, as true participants in our shared life journeys. This book is a quick read and a very worthy re-read.
Beautiful!.......2003-10-11
I was enchanted by every little story in this book. I'm giving it as a gift to all friends and family who love animals.
Ask the Animals.......2003-09-30
This lovely book contains stories from the life of an animal comunicator which has lessons for everyone. Her writings let us know that animals have feelings also. These stories will run the gambit of emotions. You'll laugh, cry,be angry and cheer. Reading this book is a must for everyone that loves animals. Even young children can appreciate this book if it's read to them. The insights of the kids will amaze you with their understanding.

Customer Reviews:
Great Information for Growing Herbs.......2006-01-13
The propagation and growing instructions are clear and quite useful for the beginner. The author expands on those to growing in quantity for sale to restaurants or to sell potted plants.
One chapter gives ideas (bath perfumes, herb sachets, etc.) for herbal products to market, but readers will need other books to detail making these or else develop their own recipes from trial and error. A final chapter gives Points-To-Remember for building a successful herb business.
Book Description
This volume is divided into four sections: late medieval devotion in the Netherlands; medieval Christian pilgrimage; the medieval cult of St. James the Great and Erasmiana. Variety and coherence sound the keynote in the title and the contents of the book. Religious concepts and expressions of religious faith such as pilgrimages and indulgences are representative of late-medieval Christianity. In this book they refer specifically to the medieval cult of St. James the Great, while for Erasmus they were an object of his critical consideration. The whole book can be read in the light of the debate about the tension between an appreciation for outward signs of faith, and the inward experience of religious belief, which Erasmus considered an absolute necessity.
