I found that out in this book. Okay, I really always suspected that anyway but confirmation was nice. I can't compare this guide to others detailing the sights, sites, and cultural offerings of San Francisco, since this is the only one I've bought, but I feel like it was comprehensive enough to stand alone. The geography (um, hilly) of the city is written-up, along with a nice overview of its attractions, parks, restaurants, climate, and the culture that makes this city both unique and a multi-cultural melting pot.

I HAVE USED FROMMER'S GUIDES FOR YEARS. THIS ONE IS A POOR
CHOICE FOR THE GENERAL TRAVELER OR A PERSON WHO HAS VISITED SAN FRANCISCO BEFORE. IT ATTEMPTS TO BE TOO MUCH OF A ROUGH GUIDE TYPE GUIDE BOOK. TOO MUCH SPACE IS SPENT ON "CUTE" RESTAURANTS or B & Bs. THE LIST OF VARIOUS TYPES OF RESTAURANTS IS TOO SLANTED AND NARROW. I FINALLY FOUND A COUPLE OF LISTINGS FOR INDIAN RESTAURANTS BUT NONE IN THE BROAD GENERAL LIST AS AN EXAMPLE. THE HOTEL LIST IS TOTALLY LACKING. WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO OTHERS FOR PURCHASE. ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!

The book is great... very informational, even gives a couple different sample itineraries. However, nothing fancy about it. No pictures, nothing visual. But very practical for the price.

Took Two.......2006-05-04

$8.50 is a great price for this 360 page book. I like that it incorporates money saving ideas and answers fundamental questions for tourists. I also brought along the Golden Gate Trailblazer guide to fill in the walking section. Although there is a fair amount of information available on the internet about the San Francisco area, having these books with me as I tooled around was a necessity. The free downtown city street map provided by my hotel provided even more detail. Frommer's is very comprehensive, current, and provides a huge amount of practical guidance.

Very easy to read and helpful hints on the travels around the city. The map attached to the back is easy to pull out and fits in a shirt pocket. Everything you need to know before you arrive is listed in the book; i.e. walking tours, water tours, trolly tours, etc. prices are listed so if you are on a budget, you can get the best bang for your buck. Highly recommend this book and we have use Frommer's for all of our travels.

Poor or no coverage of more recent models!.......2006-09-12

I objectively +/- agree the the positive comments posted here, but warn owners of newer models that this manual does not provide the correct information for newer bikes. I own a 2002 GS500 manufactured in August of 2001, and this manual does not give the proper diagrams or procedures for a number of areas such as proper removal of the bodywork, carburetor overhaul, and some aspects of the electrics (the things that require a bit of detail to do properly). Again, it's a good manual if you own a bike that it covers, but my bike is evidence that its claim to support GS500's through the 2002 model year is not quite correct.

In the short time I've had the manual it has saved me quite a few £££s by allowing me to undertake simple tasks that I didn't previously know how to. Even a simple thing like changing bulbs on the instrument cluster became an easy task.

Suzuki GS 500 Review.......2005-09-12

Please read carefully, thank you. This is a great manual for any owner of a Suzuki GS 500 model motorcycle. It is very straightforward and it teaches you how to maintain your bike in great shape. I would, as well as many others, suggest that this is not just a great addition to the original bike manual but a great replacement. This is definitely better to get as opposed to the original Suzuki manual.

As far as I go, however, I know nothing about cars let alone motorcycles; I can only operate them. This manual, as far as specific things go, has not helped me because I am not familiar with bike part terminology. I have passed my manual on to a friend who is somewhat familiar with motorcycles. I have a filthy carburetor and I cannot afford to pay for repairs. This manual may not help me completely clean out my carburetor but I can take a few steps in repairing the motorcycle before giving it to a mechanic as this also saves money. Thank you. Enjoy. Schnorr Von Carolsfeld's Bible in picture form has been the standard teaching Bible for German children of the past 130 years. These most Raphaelite compositions are perfect in their drawing, design and storytelling. Each of Von Carolsfeld's compositions have the paradoxical qualities of balance and spontaniety, of grace and strength and of monumentality and minute attention to detail. So, it is about time that the art world's great publishing friend, Dover Books, makes these somewhat forgotten illustrations easily and widely available with this handsome edition. Thank You, Dover!

Another great book from Sonya!.......2006-03-07

This is another great book from Sonya! It has helped me understand the animal world much better. Thanks to her book I am now able to better understand my cats and the animals around me. I help my family and friends with their animal problems now. I am very thankful to Sonya for helping me to better understand the world from an animal's point-of-view. I have no doubt that people can communicate with animals telepathically. If you are truly open to the idea, want to communicate with your pets, and have a true love for animals, then you can develop your ability to communicate with animals. Sonya tells in her book about the many animals she has encountered over the years; by telling people of these stories she has opened up the reader to what animals are like and how they perceive us. This book is truly a must for pet owners in order to better understand their animal companions. She tells ways to effectively get through problems that a person might be having with his/her pet and then gives helpful tips to help remedy the situation. The stories she tells apply to every pet owner. In the book, she has covered almost every animal you could possibly have. I recommend this book to anyone who has pets or works with animals. I give it five stars! Sonya truly is a gift from God!

As a cat person who enjoyed Sonja's book "What the Animals Tell Me", I was looking forward to reading this book. I was not disappointed.
In this book, Sonja gives more details about how to communicate with animals and a lot of practical cat care advice. She fills in the gaps left in her life story by the previous book. There are, of course, stories about the cats Sonja has worked with. My favorite is the story of Rosie, a hungry, frightened, pregnant kitty rescued by Sonja's husband, Fitz, who is evidently as much of an animal over as she is. This book would be most appreciated by cat lovers who are open to the possibilities of interspecies communication.

A FEAST FOR THE QUILTER'S EYES!.......2004-07-11

This book was at the top of my list for a long time and now I know why. I first purchased the author's follow-up book "4-Block Quilts, cont." and was so impressed that I made the search for "Roots, Feathers & Blooms". This book is a feast for the 4-block antique quilt lover's eyes!

The author offers 6 patterns for quilters to use to reproduce antique quilts, but the best is the potpourri of colored pictures of the antique quilts, and reproduced quilts. Two of the loveliest quilts I have ever seen are pictured and made by the author; her unusual take on the "Princess Feather" design, and the quilt entitled "Amy's Wedding Quilt", which includes charming urns, flowers, vines and berries.

The author has spent an enormous amount of time on research for 4-block designs and includes information about the makers (States)which produced them.

This may not be a book for beginning quilters insofar as there are not included instructions for how to quilt, applique, etc. Nevertheless, those things can be found in books anywhere. All quilters, however, can be inspired by the historical research and beautiful picture documentation of 4-block quilts. A must for the quilter's library.

The best decorating book out there, bar none!.......2004-05-04

I love to decorate, but as you probably know most decorating books cover just one subject, one room, or one style of decorating. This book truly covers everything and anything. It covers the hows, the whys, the color theory, and presents many pictures of beautiful rooms. Whenever I'm stumped for what to do in a room, I pick up this book and leaf through it. I have not been let down even once. There's always an idea I can adapt to whatever I'm looking for at that particular moment. I would highly recommend this book. It's a bit big, and might seem overwhelming to some, but don't try to read it all in one day. Leaf through it gingerly, or fast forward to a particular room you are wanting to work in. You will be inspired to try somethings, but always adapt them to what you would enjoy in your own home. In the summer months, my husband and I will be re-doing our 100 year old kitchen, and this book has already given me plenty of ideas to work with. Pick this book up, before all others. You can always narrow your decorating focus as you go on, and buy books on that focus. This book gives you everything and more.

I love this book.......2003-04-19

I am young, and just recently married. We just bought our first home and I had no idea where to begin. I got this book as a gift and I have loved everything about it. It has trully helped me decorate my home into something that I am proud of. I love that it gives an overview of lots of things like curtains, floors, painting techniques, and color. If you are decorating your home for the first time, or you just need some ideas to make some updates I highly recommend this book.

None as far as I can see.

Minuses:
This book tries to cover so many topics, it can only give you a little bit of info on each. I could forgive the lack of substantive information, if the pictures made up for it, but they don't. They are very boring and most seem outdated. In trying to appeal to the broadest range of people, the book misses the ideosyncracies of different interior decoration styles.

Recommendation:
I would skip this book. There are so many more interior decoration books that are so much better. Better Homes and Gardens and House Beautiful books are usually pretty good. Also, the Architecture and Design Library books are good sources for differnt styles.

This book contains many colorfull pages of great ideas that are easy for the decorating beginner to follow. This book gives you simple solutions to jazz up you current rooms and offers more detailed solutions for you to create with many different products. I loved this book from cover to cover.

My mistake.......2004-07-02

I suppose it's not entirely fair to rate a book in part on one's own misperceptions, but, I'm going to anyways. When I initially bought this book I thought it was going to be a comprehensive analysis of traveling Europe by Eurail (I was preparing for a 20 day whirlwind trip with my brother at the time). What the book provides is information about good hubs from which one can make multiple day trips using the Eurail system. It also contains some good information about the locales, contact information for local tourism offices and (in my experience) very accurate time tables. Had I known what I was getting (stupid me) I'd be rating this book five stars. As it was, the book helped our trip out immensely and even convinced us to go to a few countries we weren't even planning on (with zero regrets).

I just finished reading this book and I have to tell you, it was good. The way the author captures the life of this wonderful player.It includes many thins that not a lot of his fans know about him. Roberto and Sandy Alomar are great people, their parents did a wonderful job with all three of their kids. Sandy and Roberto are wondeful people, on and off the field. The book is wonderful.
