Travel Time.......2007-01-04

An excellent travel guide that is easy to read and filled with low cost alternatives from hotels and pensions to wonderful restaurants and tour options. This was my second trip to Amsterdam and the second time staying in the same hotel that Rick had recommended. One year while in Paris, standing in line at the Eiffel Tower I had noticed that there were several people reading Rick Steves Paris Guide. It was a great conversation starter. My last trip this past October, while touring Germany, the guide said to mention Rick's name while checking into a very comfortable pension and the owner would give a discount. It worked! Thanks Rick!

Rick led us to some of the nicest places in Brugge. I didn't get to experience Amsterdam (which claims about half the pages in the book), but the information on Belgium and Brugge was great. He has some really excellent B&B recommendations. If you end up in Brugge, definitely go see Scottish Maggie :)

September Trip.......2006-10-02

We recetnly traveled to Amsterdam, Bruges, Brussels and Antwerp. We used Rick's book to select the hotels and the areas to visit versus the bigger name publisher review books (like Let's Go and Formers, etc.). We picked three hotels from his book. Two of the three hotels were great, while one was a bit noisy. Even the hotel that was a bit noisy was a clean, smart hotel in the St. Caterhine neighboorhod section of Brussels. We found his book and recommmedations to be well written, clear and true to form. We also used Fromers guidelbook, in campanion to Rick's, but did not find it to be local enought to our needs. We ate almost exclusively at the restaurants is his book, traveled to the sights, used the train systems and used the maps in his book for our trip. Sometimes when you use a book like this you get one or two great places to stay or to eat, but, with his, it was truely a satisfying experience to go to his book's places and come away satisfied.

We saw other travelers in the regions we visited using his book as well.

We will definitely recommmend this book to novice travelers as well as repeat travelers, and defintely buy one of his books again.

as usual, rick steves' does the best job. having lived in europe for 13 months, his way is my favorite way to travel. i won't allow myself travelling 'looking like the usual tourist' and doing the usual tourist thing. his suggestions allow you to get to know the heart of the people and culture.

This book has a lot of information on Amsterdam, Brussells, and Bruge. It will come in handy for our trip to these cities.

Ron Rhodes does a superb job giving a concise overview of the origin and teachings of a variety of cults and new religions. Some of the groups covered are the better known religions like: The Jehovah's Witnesses, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormonism). Ron also addresses numerous other groups that still relatively obscure: Baha'i, Hare Krishna, Kabbalism, Masonic Lodge, Nation of Islam, and many more. You'll find this book a great resource!

This cute little book is a must have for list makers. With 365 lists to complete you will stay busy for at least a year coming up with new things to do and crossing off old wishes. Some of the lists are goofy and some worth saving for all time. The main idea is to complete the ideas that you originally place on your lists and not just continue making lists for the rest of your life of course. So enjoy and place the emphasis on the "Did It" section!

357 lists to fill in and a couple of pages at the end to write your own list title and fill them in. This even has an index to help you to find your list easier when you need a particular one.
It is so much fun to fill in. The amazing thing is I never realized what I actually think about - toys to buy my children (I don't have any yet), questions to ask the president, designs of flatware I'd like to use. But I didn't have to think much, I already knew! You find something new about yourself every time to open to a new list.

Barron Delivers Another Classic.......2007-09-24

Having worked in pet stores for many years, I have dealt with lots of books. By far, my favorite are the Barron line of books. These books are not only informative, but are individual in themselves. Whereas with other books, they give you an overview of the animals at the beginning, Barron books give you the authors own experiences and learnings. "Clownfish and Sea Anemones" is a great book for the new marine aquarist who is first starting out, as these little fish and their symbiosis with anemones are usually their first introduction to saltwater aquariums. From setting up the tank, info on different variations in species, and disease info, this book is a wonderful intro to these amazing little fish and their lifemates, the anemones. For more information, read more books from John Tullock. This author will truly open the doors of this hobby to the knowledge starved aquarist.

Don't buy this book if you want to learn to care for your clownfish, or sea anemones. It is only marginally good at identification, and is sparse on content about selection, care, feeding, etc. The pictures/illustrations are pathetic, and it also has a bunch of "unnecessary" information about how to care for a marine aquarium. I didn't buy the book to learn how to take care of an aquarium. I bought the book to learn how to take care of clownfish and anemones. This book looks like a book that was published in 1973 and has been sitting on the shelf of your public library since then.

More about clownfish than anemones.......2000-03-04

Generally, this is a book about introducing a novice to clownfishes. It provides a reasonable introduction to keeping and breeding clownfish, but the coverage of anemones is minimal (it is after all less than $10.00). In some cases, though, it oversimplifies their care (doesn't say anything about how to feed an anemone for example). If I bought this book, I definitely wouldn't think I had enough knowledge to purchase and keep an anemone. However, as far as keeping clown fish (which are quite hardy to begin with), its a good intro for the beginner.

Concise introductory guide........1999-11-25

The author of one of the best aquarium books (Natural Reef Aquariums) writes about everyone's favorite fish. What could possibly be better? Actually, the book is very limited in scope, and clearly produced down to a price. Brief sections classify anemonefish and the anemones, describe how to set up and maintain a tank, how to feed clownfish, which species to keep with clownfish, and some tips on breeding clownfish.

Classification of both the anenomes and clownfish is covered better in the book 'Anemone Fishes and Their Host Sea Anemones'. The Care and Breeding of Clownfishes is covered better by Joyce Wilkerson in her book 'Clownfishes'. And the setup and maintenance of a tank is covered better by just about every acquarium book out there.

That said, within the limits of the space and format of the book, the coverage is as good as could be expected. The book brings together sufficient information to get beginners started. The book will tell you How to, but not Why. If this is all you want to know (and if you local acquarium shop is good), then this book is probably all you need.

This book is filled to the brim with hundreds of pages of plastic ware from the 30s to the 60s. Goldberg gives us photos of everything from plastic toothpicks to appliances. He includes everything you can think of: barware, bowls, canisters, cookie jars, clocks, containers, flatware, glasses & tumblers, napkin rings, picnic items, refridgerator dishes, salt & pepper sets, utensils, even watering cans!

There is a large section which covers dinnerware, with over 25 different manufacturers, including a nice section showing various backstamps. He includes a bilbliography, value guide (which may not reflect current online auctions prices), and a short history of plastic as it was introduced to America. My only quibble with this book is that I wish the photos were a little better lit, they are a little dark in some sections. But all in all, a valuable reference.

I have been useing Ed's books for years. I follow his column in heads magazine and Cannabis Culture magazine. He knows what he is talking about. This book is the ultimate handbook. It tells you everything you need to know to get a garden started. I think this book is very easy to follow and is a great buy. Theinformation is priceless. I trust Ed and this book.

I read 90% of this book front to back when I first recieved it. It could have been organized better, and yes it did seem to jump around a bit, but it had some quality information that are the building blocks for the best techniques available.

This is a great starter book for any grower. I still refer to this book many times. The information is great and useful. A book for people who are starting to grow.

Good Presentation - Fair coverage of marijuana topics.......2003-06-05

This is an okay reference book. I found this book easier to navigate than Indoor marijuana Horticulture by Jorge Cervantes which is packed with information but not well presented. Between both of these guides I was able to improve on my cultivation techniques but there are gaps still not covered by both works. If you find yourself in this kind of a situation then I recommend that you look for normal botany books on growing. I have a collection of other readings which helped. You might have to go down that route too.

Well worth the read but you will need much more than just these two books.
