I wish this book would have went into more details about hiring vendors for destination weddings as many brides have a preference on the type of video or photography they want for their wedding.

Hiring wedding vendors for a destination wedding is like a box of chocolates, "You never know what you're gonna get!" After you leave the wedding location, depending on the culture, you may not receive your video for a very long time or at all. To guarantee good cinematic services, take your videographer with you. Seriously!

You can affordably do this by adding an additional room to your hotel reservations for both the photographer and videographer to share, assuming they are both the same sex. Most hotels will offer the bride and groom one additional room for every 10 rooms they book for their guests. Inquire with your hotel for this option. Most videographers will shoot your wedding for little or no additional costs as long as the couple pays for the airfare and hotel accommodations. I wish the author would have hit on this a bit more.

Perfect travel book for weddings and beyond!!.......2007-03-15

I love this book! It's not only great for planning a wedding but gives great suggestions for honeymoon destinations or just a great vacation for any special occasion. I picked this book up in the store and couldn't put it down. It gives excellent tips and suggestions on planning your destination wedding from start to finish. It includes time charts, checklists and literally does not miss one step along the way. SO USEFUL! This book is so great! The only problem is trying to pick which amazing destination to settle on!

A 'destination wedding' is something special: an opportunity for both bride and groom to travel to another locale to wed - anywhere in the world. Chapters touch upon all the basics; from communicating with guests and organizing the ceremony to choosing the right location, researching its resources, and making travel arrangements for guests and family. But there's more than generalities about weddings on the go: final sections cover the specifics of countries around the world from Africa and Asia to Europe, and include specific recommendations for places which lend to weddings and establishments which cater to them. Not all that helpful.......2006-07-20

I was hoping this book would have more to offer. Its a fun read to look at all the various travel locations, but it didn't offer much at all in terms of helpful advice. It's more like a travel book than anything else and it actually caters more to readers in a high income bracket than to the average bride looking to plan a wedding her guests could reasonably attend.

So-So.......2006-03-25

Have you ever opened a book only to find that only a few of its pages pertain to you? Only about 115 pages or so of this book have valuable information; the remaining 250 or so pages discuss various destinations and resort suggestions in each one. If you are planning a wedding in, for instance, the Bahamas, you'll find there are only three and a half pages which discuss the Bahamas. At the same time, none of the information is new - all of it is information the resourceful bride can glean online - for free.

Of the useful information, the author covers the planning process, but again, none of this information seemed more than common sense (make sure you have internet access and a cell plan with good international rates). As someone else noted, many of the web addresses were incorrect.

Not a bad book by any means, but not as useful as I was hoping it would be.

This is absolutely the best dictionary available! The entries are entirely Latin-English, and they are full, complete, and list multiple examples from classical texts of the word's use. Although expensive, one volume should be in every Latin classroom or reference library.

Excellent Dictionary..........2004-01-10

This text is the most comprehensive Latin dictionary one can buy. Each entry is jam-packed with information including several different uses of the word, places where other authors use the word in a particular context and more! Perfect for research papers and everyday translating alike.

Is there a better Latin-English Dictionary?.......2003-04-12

This is the classic Lewis and Short Latin-English Dictionary. Its only real contender is the newer Oxford Latin Dictionary (OLD). However, the OLD is handicapped by its limited scope: anyone interested in Late, Ecclesiastical, Medieval, or Neo-Latin need not apply. Lewis and Short is more comprehensive. It's sole drawback is its great bulk and weight. If you are interested in a much smaller, but still quite complete, dictionary, consider the Chambers-Murray Latin-English dictionary.

Comprehensive yet handy volume--.......2002-08-25

I find this Latin dictionary very friendly and convenient to use, compared to the O.L.D., yet still offering most lexicological resources needed for the advanced Latin student or the scholar. Its content is indeed broader (a plus!) than the O.L.D., but does not skimp on presenting the particulars of the entries. I do not recommend this dictionary for absolute beginners (although they could do much worse), but I do indeed suggest it to anyone in _advanced_ high school Latin classes, as well as to all college students (including those enrolled in graduate studies). Accordingly, I strongly recommend this publication to any "former" high school or college Latin student (such as myself) who wishes to refresh his/her knowledge of Latin and/or who just wants to have a great Latin dictionary in their home. A wonderful reference!

very good... not for the absolute scholar or the beginner.......2000-02-21

While an excellent dictionary for undergraduate college use, beginners might find the Chambers-Murray dictionary more affordable and not noticeably diminished. For the serious translator and scholar, the Oxford Dictionary might be a better choice, particularly for obscure and/or late words. That said, Lewis and Short is my dictionary of choice.

This book contains a moderate amount of information in about every category a new Keeshond owner could imagine.As with all "breed" books the emphasis is on the new puppy and/or registered/show dog.(no tips about unregistered pet shop or shelter adult dog adoptions...look on the internet for that!) There are Lots of beautiful color photographs showing the diversity of the coats/faces of this breed.Other books available on Amazon have more on the history of the breed.

Gorgeous "coffee table" book.......2005-08-29

This book is full of absolutely beautiful photos of (mostly old) American sterling place and serving pieces. Its strength is to help identify unusual pieces that people today don't have a clue about. Not very useful for identifying patterns, unless you happen to stumble across a photo of a pattern whose name you are seeking. Patterns are not indexed, but types of pieces are. The price guide (e.g., $30 to $85 for a teaspoon) is absolutely useless. Interesting form to photocopy to use to keep track of pieces you acquire.

Informative Book on Sterling Flatware with Great Pictures.......2002-09-28

I could not be more pleased with this book. It contains page after page of beautifully photographed flatware and contains the history of numerous popular patterns and the great number of pieces available in the various patterns, including the rare and unusual pieces.

I could not be more pleased with this book. It is 204 pages of excellent photographs and descriptions of many patterns, along with a history of the unusual pieces and their original uses. The price guide is just *one* page in this book and is meant only to provide a range. Such a guide would be out of date as soon as published, and it is not realistic to expect it to be current or definitive. (It may have been better left out!) This is the finest book I have seen for a serious silver flatware collector.

This book is a great resource if you are looking for general descriptions of the hundreds of different types of sterling flatware pieces - it goes well beyond the standard place setting and serving pieces. However, it would be better if it had better photos of some details and the price guide is very general - it does not value specific patterns.

I was disappointed with this book as it did not include most of the hardy waterliles I've recently purchased (eg. Chromatella, Helvola). Perhaps I need to purchase the first Slocum book for this information?? They may be included under a different name, but if so, this does make this reference less useful as the common trade names are the key words most of us will be using to find information.

Great book with great pictures........2006-10-23

I just bought this latest edition of Waterlilies and Lotuses after owning the last one for a few years and I was glad to see photos and information on many new varieties.

Some of the new listings, with photos, include Foxfire, King of Siam, Carla's Sonshine, Islamorada, Innocence, Miami Rose and many others.

A lot of great species lilies are also listed, with photos, such as the Victoria lilies, the Australian Gigantea lilies, Eurayle Ferox and others.

All descriptions of the lilies include information such as flower size, shape and fragrance and leaf sizes colors and spread. Also included on most lilies is the date of introduction, the person who hybridized them and the parent plants of the hybrids when known.

The authors also give recommendations as to what size pond or tub is best suited for a particular lily.

I like this book and think it can be helpful for persons deciding which plants to purchase for their pond.

There is a lot of information on the newer lilies,but I was disappointed there weren't more pictures of the lilies.

Not an introduction but a strong place for further study.......2006-03-30

If this is your introduction to Cleaver buy Soul on Ice first. If you have read Soul on Ice then this is a good time to buy this book. This is a collection of writings that expands Cleaver's life. When reading this you must keep it in the frame of reference of the time in which it was written. There are better written books on the black Muslim movement like James Baldwin's The Fire Next Time, what that book lacks is the insider's perspective. There are more gut twisting books on jail like Henry James Abbott's The Belly of the Beast, what this book lacks is a man's desire for a spiritual change. What Cleaver's writing has is what those other two novels are lacking: an insider's perspective and a deisre for spiritual and political change. This book is worth reading just for Cleaver's viewpoint. The writings are varied and extensive from the humorus to the dead serious. This book is a probing look at the life of one of the great American revolutionaries.
