I used this book to plan almost all aspects to our two week Alaska vacation which we have just gotten back from. And this book was the very best to give you the means to get off the beaten tourist path and see and experience the true Alaska. It is by far the very best tool. People asked us how we saw and experience so much in such a short time and I tell them it's because of this book and doing our home work.

I found "Lewis and Clark for Kids" to be an excellent source of information and activities for both children, parents and teachers. There is an abundance of information about the actual journey plus there are great activities for children to engage in to learn more about the various indian cultures that Lewis and Clark interacted with on their journey of discovery.

I would have given this book five stars if there had been just a few more activities in it.

The book reads as non-fiction literature and is interspersed with good photos and interesting sidebars. There are also some useful activities for the child to do within the text to reinforce what is learned.

This book would be useful for all grades but can be read independently in the middle school grades. The book contains a glossary, index, web site suggestions, bibliography, listings of museums and parks and other handy references.

Dover press is a great resource for spot illustrations that can be used in a multitude of odd projects. This book offers a rare find for those seeking black and white images for use on a project/social that has a theme of "the 20s". A must!

This is the absolutly best book I have ever read on Wolves! I could not put it down. I would say it read like a great novel, except it's all true. I sat and cried when the lone wolf was shot. Everyone should read this book before they go to Yellowstone!

Gary Ferguson's story of the first year after reintroduction of wolves to Yellowstone captures both the human and animal drama of this important ecological event. It's also the most evenhanded of the books on wolves: although Ferguson is obviously a fan of the critters, he gives fair play to the very real concerns of opponents. His comprehensive knowledge -- the author lives near Yellowstone and has written a previous book, "Walking Down the Wild" about the area -- make this an informative as well as enjoyable read.

Beautiful display of Tiffany's work.......2000-03-29

This book is a wonderful display of Tiffany's "smaller" works -- not only of jewelry (which is the primary focus), but also other objets d'art. It also provides a very informative history of Tiffany's life and his creative aspirations. I enjoyed reading the book as much as I did looking at the great pictures. There are so many books out there on Tiffany, but if jewelry is your passion (particularly jewelry of the late 1800's - early 1900's), this is definitely one to get.

3.5 stars! Bathroom Design Book not for Prudes.......2003-09-12

Author really takes reader on a behind-the-scenes tour of HOW we live in our habitats... Conran won't just ask, what color scheme do you want, but instead makes reader think about true functionality of beds & baths and all the accoutrements. If you use this book to remodel or build, you'll be making some informed choices!

Ignore the hairstyles of the models (mid 1970's) and book won't seem so dated. In fact, Europe (source of most of these designs) must have been ahead of America in the bathroom design game, because most of the fixtures seem quite current, actually.

Bedroom sections of the book are more dated, though, with a lack of variety, especially with conspicuous absence of shabby chic, country, and ethnic styles which have become popular in America.

What is really great about this book is its organization. There are informative and entertaining sections about the history of, say, the bidet or the cradle. There are sections for the design of sickrooms, rooms for convalescing, rooms for couples, rooms for teens, and so on.

Great variety...Many excellent, helpful examples and diagrams! More photos and examples than most currently available design books of the same size.

Goes one step more technical/practical than usual style books, in that there is a whole section on choosing a mattress, one on toilet seat ergonomics, one on the manufacture of carpets.

One last complaint... photos often feature poorly lit interiors. The technology in that area has definitely improved. But it's still an excellent supplement to a homeowner/remodeler/interior designer's collection of style books.

I've been a fan of the Quickstart series from Peachpit for a while now, but this book is by far the best that I have read. What really impressed me was that this book was actually designed by the author in PageMaker. If anyone knows the product, he does, and he's managed to share all of his insights and tips quite well. A must have.

Excellent book for first-time users.......1999-02-11

I had never used PageMaker before but had to learn it quickly in order to update a document. This book was exactly what I needed. I read the sections that I needed (about 70% of the book) in one day and by late afternoon I was updating my document. I especially like that the relevant pictures are right next to the text. I could follow along very easily without having to duplicate everything on my own computer screen. Highly recommended for first-time users that need to learn PM 6.5 quickly

Fast, fast fast fast.......1998-09-15

Visual quick start is probably the fastest way to learn Pagemaker and no costly like other books that are at least 37.00. This book can teach you about the interface of pagemaker the super speedy way, but I don't believe beginners should get this. It has little or no explanation about becoming a pagemaker. This book is strictly for learning on how to adjust to the pagemaker 6.5 interface. This book is intended, in my opinion, for people who has understanding of why pagemaker. Thanks and please look for my other reviews on adobe products

As usual, the Visual Quickstart Guide series are the best tutorial books for the beginners. Mr. Alspach's "PageMaker 6.5 for windows" is no exception.
