This is easily the best book on the TITANIC I have found so far, and I have been looking for info on the TITANIC for several months now. It is chock-full of infromation, paintings, and photos of this famous ship. Once I said to my friend, "Ask me any question about the TITANIC, and bet I can answer it with this book." This is a great record-keeping journal for your cat! We have 3 cats & bought one journal per cat. It has 2 pages per year of your cat's life. There's also a page just for recording vaccination history. I bring them to our cats' vet appts & it is very helpful to be knowledgeable about your own cat's history.

A well-written, accessible guide to armor, with minor flaws........1999-03-23

Although this book specifically catalogues the armor collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art -- issued to commemorate the Museum's splendid renovation of its legendary Armor Court -- this is a fine, intelligent, and comprehensive overview for anyone interested in how arms and armor were made, used, and venerated from the Middle Ages through the Baroque period.

The only reservation I have about this book is the author's curious reluctance to fully acknowledge the real purpose of these items. Yes, arms and armor can be beautiful -- and the examples provided here surely are -- but it cannot be forgotten that they are at their core instruments of war, meant to kill, maim, or at the very least, intimidate. This book implies that arms and armor are merely fashion statements, much as we venerate the clothing designs of Versace, Armani, Ralph Lauren, Geoffrey Beene, etc. today. It's pretty to think so, but an overly romanticized viewpoint.

This reservation, however, is not enough to prevent me from highly recommending this book.

Very useful reference book!.......2005-05-22

This book has a short "introductory" section that goes over the basics. I've seen a number of books that have more general information than this one. However, I think this book does an outstanding job of giving very specific information on each plant in its listing of 100+ plants.

Each listing shows a color photo or drawing of a typical specimen. At the top of each listing is a rating from "Very Easy" to "Very Difficult" on the difficulty of caring for this plant. This can be very useful when selecting plants. (It also makes me feel better when I look up a plant that just croaked and found that other people don't have much luck with it either!) Another handy bit of information is the section on "Problems". Each plant listing has a "Problem" section that includes more than just pest problems, but issues like overwatering, light issues, etc. When I get a new plant I like to look it up here so I know what I'm getting into.

This is definitely a great book to have on hand if you have a number of houseplants.

This is the most easy to read & comprehend book about houseplants that I've ever seen. Each plant is shown in color and rated on an very easy - very difficult basis, which is extra important when deciding on which plants to purchase. The book tells you commom problems of each plant and tips & hints on how to care for them. I check with this book before I purchase ANY plant!

Before this book, the few plants we had were just barely surviving. Plants received as gifts invaribly died. It was horrible.

Then we got this book. We have filled our house with a variety of planets and our plants are doing extremely well. We now give cuttings and detailed care instructions to other people who love plants. Evans' book is very easy to use, it is an extremely attractive book with a color photo of each plant, and we consult it all of the time both as a reference and as guide to which plants we would like to add to the house. It is a pleasure just leafing through this book!

Comprehensive help/advise.......2000-05-18

This is a great reference book for all levels of houseplant lovers (I have about 30 houseplants spread throughout my small house). I think the most useful part of this book is how the author rates each of the 200+ plants referenced as "Very Easy, Easy, Difficult, Very Difficult." These ratings refer to the ease (or difficulty) in growing these plants indoors. I've already consulted the book probably a dozen times before buying a particular plant, i.e., if I know a plant is going to be "difficult" or "very difficult," I usually think twice about the amount of time and work that might be involved with sustaining the plant.

In addition to ranking the plants like I've described, the author lists common problems associated with each plant, the fixes for these problems, how to proprigate, the average life-span, where to place the plant, how big/small you can expect the plant to get, and much much more information.

I'm a plant lover and consider myself knowledgeable on houseplants, but I get this book out at least once a week to either reference something about my existing plants or plan my next purchase. I enjoyed this book so much, I recently purchased one as a gift for my mother, who is also a plant lover.

If Amazon has this book in stock (it frequently goes on backorder I've noticed), get it. You won't be disappointed.

I found this book to be extremely helpful. Very practical advice. The only thing I found not to be true was "dressing for dinner". I found that casual dress was by far the best in St. Kitts. Anyone taking a trip to St. Kitts and Nevis should read this book!

This really helps in seeing the various clothing females wear around the world. They go from Japan to Africa. There's also a section for Prehistoric Bishoujo if you like that. The illustrations are wonderful for they show how each of the races are: Mangolid, Causcoid, and Negroid are illustrated in this book.

My wonderful daddy bought this book for me a few months ago and this is my favorite out of the 5 I own. I did like this book alot but I wish the author would add more detail when portraying the clothing of ALL of the different countries that the book mentioned. For example, I was drawing a bishoujo from Iraq, but there were no clothes that were made in the book from Iraq. There was some from Iran, but not Iraq.

I also wish that the book would go into more detail with the punk/rock/metal page. I wish there was more choices of clothes, hair and facial positions with the punk/rock/metal page. I'd prefer that best.

Yes, I am a younger person than people would expect to be drawing manga, but this book does contain a fair amount of nudity. It's not sexual nudity or anything, but it's necessary, I suppose. I would recomend this book to somebody who wouldn't be shocked if there was a bit of nudeness in this book. However, i'm not quite a teenager and I don't mind.

When I saw this book, I simply had to have it! If you are looking for a book that helps you get a good idea of different ethinicities, then this is a book for you! This book teaches you the certain attributes of different race characters on how to correctly draw them, and how to give them their own individuality. As a warning to those who don't like nudity,this book does contain a good bit of nudity, so I don't recommend this book to those of you who are offended by nudity. I think all of the characters are beautifully drawn, Hikaru Hayashi is one of my favorite how to draw artists'. Also in the book, it gives you some descriptions of clothing each race wear, hair types, and skin types. This is a good book for those who would like to draw different races in their manga, (which I do).So if you are a big Hayashi fan, then you will be very pleased with this book!

"A Dog Owner's Guide to Grooming Your Dog" Is an excellent place to start if you are considering grooming your pet. However, it is not for someone wanting to go into the business of Grooming. I was a little disappointed that my breed, the Shih Tzu, was not included.

I think it's a good book for those who want to groom they dog at home . It discribes all the equipment needed for grooming. It even goes to details about different grooming types for the same dog ,for example if you owe a poodle you should know that you can groome it to many shapes.You can find couple shape types in this book. But if you search for grooming all type of dogs,for example Snauzher you wont find it here. It just discribes typical dog types.
