The details of what is seen in the various areas are very helpful. Fodors takes you town by town in an orderly fashion with helpful information in planning your trip.
I found that after reading this book, my vacation plans were changed to accomodate more sightseeing. It was very beneficial.

Each page softly depicts the heart-felt words of freedom, equality, constitution, declaration, patriotism, rights, valor and heroes. The modernized historical quotations such as "The noblest question in the world is: What good may I do in it?" from Benjamin Franklin is most encouraging for children who are looking for 'action' around every corner... and what child isn't? My favorite page is "Y... is for YOU and all you will be in this greatest of countries, the land of the free." What a lovely way to connect America's children with their country at an early age while providing a foundational glimpse of the development of America's backbone. Primer: look it up, axe-grinders.......2005-07-15

Cheney wrote this as an historical primer, a guide to the basic elements of U.S. history. While it is not a "warts and all" tome, it is meant to spur kids to pursue a further interest in the topic. Given the basic facts that she presents (in a wonderfully scaffolded way that can be used for kids from 1 to 10 and possibly older), Cheney provides parents with an opportunity to show their children that this nation is something to be immensely proud of while leaving room for discussion of our mistakes as well.

And for the record, "N is for Native Americans... who came here first" may offend some but the simple statement begs kids to ask "well then... WHAT HAPPENED?".

Don't let the discussion scare you.

A Must for the Arthritic Dog Owner.......2002-04-09

This is a great book for the arthritic dog owner. It is very thorough and investigates ALL of the solutions for dogs with arthritis and other diseases, such as Canine Hip Dysplasia. It talks about maintaining the dog's quality of health by holostic means, rather than the ever popular NSAIDS such as Rimadyl/Estogesic, which have been known to have a lot of side effects. But it also investigates the NSAIDS. The book is not one-sided, but gives open information about all possible routes that can be taken to maintain a dog with arthritis. I have read a lot of books about this topic, but this is one of my top picks. It delivers a lot of information in a clear manner, then lets the reader decide for her/his self what are the best solutions for their individual dog. I enjoyed this book most because of its thoroughness. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is facing anytype of joint complications with their dog.

If you want to know anything about plants, this is the book to buy. Have looked thru a bunch of other books, and none of them even come close to the variety of plants covered and depth of info. If want to buy only one book, this is the one.

The Most Complete Reference.......2000-08-21

This is the most complete reference I have in my collection of garden books. I have yet to find a plant variety that is not in this book. Truly a "must have" for any gardener.

One of the first books I reach for when I feel I need to look something up. Good for beginners and hardy gardening veterans.

Contains a plant encyclopedia with botanical names. Detailed Climate zone maps and climate descriptions. Does not use USDA zones but a more thorough and detailed zoning system. All zones are described in detail. Zoning includes southern regions of Canada (very useful) but not all of it. (If you live in the northern portion of the provinces you will be disappointed it's not truly for Canada like it claims.) The only thing I wish for are Latitude and Longitude lines on the zone maps.

Also contains: Plant selection guide, Pest and disease reference, Botanical name guide and a gardening dictionary all of which are well explained for beginners.

One of the best of the many general gardening books available that I've picked up. Very handy if you move around quite a bit.

Know how for the garden ignoramus.......1999-12-03

Essential for anyone who starts out, as well as for the one who knows a bit about flora and fauna and how to bring colour, fragrance and life to his/her home and garden. Thoroughly recommended by one who did not know a toss about gardens but can now actually dabble with an Adenium Obesum in the home!
