(Volume 1: digestive tract; Volume 2: respiratory system; Volume 3: reproductive organs). Volume 4 contains 211 photographic plates of specimens (some in colour) prepared for light, transmission, and scanning electron microscopy, along with whole mount skeletal preparations. The methodology for preparing the slides is described in the introduction. Cultured cod larvae are used to illustrate the development of cultured cod from hatching to 54 days. Light micrographs of wild cod illustrate later stages, up to metamorphosis. The publication is fully indexed.

Midlife Mavericks is inspiring, educational and thought provoking. Karen Blue gives a brief account of how she and 16 different "real life" middle-aged single women made a self-governing choice for themselves and how they manage that choice. Well worth the read.

I purchased the book, Midlife Mavericks by Karen Blue, a couple years ago when I was facing unexpected changes in my middle years. I have also spent time traveling and camping in Baja since my college days and have friends who have gone the extra step and purchased property in Mexico. It was wonderful to read the stories of these women's lives through Karen Blue's interviews and inspirational to learn that change can be a positive adventure at any age. Her book made me want to gather these women together to share more stories and a glass of wine on the patio. I was unfamiliar with Lake Chapala and have since acquired travel books of the area. All this has lead me to finally planning a trip to Guadalajara and Lake Chapala. Thank you Karen Blue for helping me plan my next adventure!

I had to buy this book for a sociology class, and I'm glad I did. The book is easy to read and covers many topics related to research, focusing on qualitative but noting quantitative as well. This would be a great read to learn how to get started doing qualitative research.

Account of Clinton and Reno's Treason, less the Liberal Spin.......2001-03-10
Dr. Canfireld and Mr. Delgaudio's account of the treasonous actions and illegal campaign funding involving Ex-President Clinton and Ex-Attorney General Janet Reno, are unvarnished and accurate. I had only obtained bits and pieces of information involving Communist Red China's influence over Ex-President Clinton's administration due to the medias liberal spin. However, was horrified by the legitimate threat to our national sovereignty and safety courtesy of Clinton and Reno. The book goes into elaborate detail evidencing how Clinton used his executive power to run interference for the Riady's, and Chung, who contributed heavily to his election in order to receive highly classified American military technology. To just name a few of Clinton's treasonous activities covered in this book are as follows:
l. Evidence of Clinton and Reno's intentional roadblock, obstructing the Cox report from being released which revealed Red China's progress in developing a State-of-the-Art military with nuclear weapons on a par with the U.S.A.
2. Clinton's malicious systematic dismantle of the Reagan Strategic Defense Initiative.
3. Clinton's signing of control waivers allowing transfer of improved missile guidance systems to Red China; although being fully aware that Red China had nuclear-tipped ICBM's targeted at the U.S.A. Then vetoing Republican missile defense legislation.
4. Clinton intentionally loosened export controls on missile technology by moving approvals out of Defense and State departments into the pro-trade Commerce Department - being fully aware that red China could easily obtain this highly sensitive technology.
5. Clinton did not disapprove of North Korea firing missiles into Japanese and Alaskan airspace. And intentionally attempted to conceal Red China firing missiles into Taiwan airspace from the American people.
6. Clinton was opposed to the Theater Missile Defense system which could protect the U.S.A. from Reed China's nuclear missiles. I would recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in understanding the extent that Clinton and Reno have made our country and we as a people vulnerable to foreign aggressors.
No real proof or facts, just fiction.......2000-12-31
China doll, a book written by Roger Canfield and Richard Delgaudio, is more than a rush to judgement of what happen to Nuclear weapon secrets, it express a hate for the Clinton Presidency with, unsubstaniated, charges that part of his campaign money came from the Red Chinese. There are many wild charges like this one in this book.
There is also a long list of false chages made against Los Alamos scientist Wen Ho Lee. He is accused of downloading 50 years of Nuclear secrets and giving them to chinese agents during one of his trips to china.
The spy charges against Dr. Lee were false, and it was something he was never charged with. At this time Dr. Lee is free with 58 of the 59 charges against him dropped. With one kept on him to keep the Justice dept. and Energy dept. from looking totally ridiculous.
China doll shows no proof, or even sources that prove their charges against President Clinton. And the few sources quoted in this book have been discredited or suspect.
ABC News.com writer wrote an article [Errors mar the cox report] that discredits the report put together by Rep. Christopher Cox. The article cited false information and a distortion of facts and history on Nuclear Weapons Spying.
APB News.com writer also wrote an article critical of the report for the same reasons.
And there are a number of web sites by people who have knowledge in the area of science and nuclear energy who researched the report and have also discredited it.
The New York Times story that help start this by publishing charges by Notra Trulock, a former energy dept. security official. The Times made no attempt to prove these charges true before publishing the article.
Their other sources of information include the Washington Times and the World Net Daily. Both are Conservative and not fans of President Clinton, which translates in to bias reporting.
An investigation has shown no link to Dr. Lee and Los Alamos over the stolen "Crown Jewels" of the Nuclear arsenal that included the W-88. It also showed that Clinton was not lax in investigating charges of espionage. Dr. Lee name was dropped by the Justice Dept. as a suspect.
There will be many people who will read China doll, and want to believe every word in it. But the charges made in it are false. This is another Conservative Witch hunt that went nowhere, and it included touches of racism that scrapegoat Chinese Americans as spies for China.
The key sources for this book have been proven wrong.
Trulock has resigned.
The Times was forced to admit they were wrong about about the article.
After being proven wrong by an 60 minutes investigation, Energy Secretary Bill Richardson, is still in denial of his involvement that got this mess started.
Cox stated that the case against lee was starting to look like Richard Jewel.
Finally, since the case against Dr. Lee fell apart a number of Republician Senators who accused Clinton of treason have become silent and left the matter alone.
This biased book does not plan to do that.

This book portrays the espionage and what can only be called treason which the Clinton administration has committed. The book clearly states the facts, is a light, quick read and is a real eye opener. The crimes which Clinton and Gore have committed become blatantly obvious to who ever reads this book. This book should be published by the millions and should be in every bookstore around the country.
China Doll is a Doll.......2000-09-05
An excellent primer on the whole sordid Clinton Gore sellout to China. My only criticism is that the book moved to fast. It should have been longer.
Dr. Canfield does an excellent job of tracing the money from the Chinese government to the Clinton-Gore political operation. He is able to penetrate the lies, the distortions, the go betweens the money laundering. What's more he does it mostly from publicly available sources. Too bad Janet Reno did not read this book before letting Gore off the hook.
This wasn't something that happened while Gore was in the john. It was a carefully planned way for the Chinese to buy influence at the highest levels of our government. It is too bad the title None Dare Call it Treason was already taken.
I hate Clinton but hate this book more!!.......2000-08-28
I hate President Clinton with a passion, but I hate this book even furter. This book covers allegations that have already been covered by other people. It was just waste of my time reading this book. I thought China Doll would give new insight on how Clinton "sold us out." I was greatly disappointed to find out Mr. Delgaudio has written a book that seems to be a cut and paste from other books about Clinton/China scandal.

This is a great book for the gardener with little space. All of the gardens featured are pretty small by suburban standards. But none the less, the gardens and designs Keith Davitt covers are spectacular.
You will discover how to get rid of that same old boring lawn that everyone else has on the block. Davitt takes you through creating your very own unique garden with stone, brick, gravel, water and lots more. He covers why it works for the owner and the space given. It gives valuable insights for the gardener planning a new space.

This book is full of pictures of unusual and beautiful gardens all very different from one another. I especially enjoyed seeing the variety of what is possible. The text focuses mainly on design with discussion on style and analysis of what works and why. Although I think Keith Davitt's first book "Small Spaces Beautiful Gardens" was a superior book with more information on how each garden was created and before & after pictures, I still highly recommend this book for its many examples and design tips.

Instead, this family of seven found themselves on a small dairy farm where the older children had to pitch in with their parents and work just for their basic needs of food and shelter. Eventually the family moved to New York to improve their opportunities, including one daughter's enrollment at a college in Elmhurst, Illinois -- living on potatoes and over-sweetened coffee just so she could pay her tuition. Blue Guides
Without doubt, the best of the walks guides.... the Blue Guide has been around since 1918 and has extremely well designed walks with lots of unique little side stops to hit on just about any interest you have. If you want to pick up the feel of the city, this is the best book to do that for you. This is one that you end up packing on your 10th trip, by which time it is well worn.
MapGuide
MapGuide is very easy to use and has the best location information for hotels, tourist attractions, museums, churches etc. that they manage to keep fairly up to date. It's great for teaching you how to use the Metro. The text sections are quick overviews, not reviews, but the strong suite here is brevity, not depth. I strongly recommend this for your first few times learning your way around the classic tourist sites and experiences. MapGuide is excellent as long as you are staying pretty much in the center of the city.
Time Out
The Time Out guides are very good. Easy reading, short reviews of restaurants, hotels, and other sites, with good public transport maps that go beyond the city centre. Many people who buy more than one guidebook end up liking this one best!
Let's Go
Let's Go is a great guide series that specializes in the niche interest details that turn a trip into a great and memorable experience. Started by and for college students, these guides are famous for the details provided by people who used the book the previous year. They continue to focus on providing a great experience inexpensively. If you want to know about the top restaurants, this is not for you (use Fodor's or Michelin). Let's Go does have a bewildering array of different guides though. Here's which is what:
Budget Guide is the main guide with incredibly detailed information and reviews on everything you can think of.
City Guide is just as intense but restricted to the single city.
PocketGuide is even smaller and features condensed information
MapGuide's are very good maps with public transportation and some other information (like museum hours, etc.)
Michelin
Famous for their quality reviews, the Red Michelin Guides are for hotels & Restaurants, the Green Michelin Guides are for main tourist destinations. However, the English language Green guide is the one most people use and it has now been supplemented with hotel and restaurant information. These are the serious review guides as the famous Michelin ratings are issued via these books.
Fodor's
Fodor's is the best selling guide among Americans. They have a bewildering array of different guides. Here's which is what:
The Gold Guide is the main book with good reviews of everything and lots of tours, walks, and just about everything else you could think of. It's not called the Gold guide for nothing though....it assumes you have money and are willing to spend it.
SeeIt! is a concise guide that extracts the most popular items from the Gold Guide
PocketGuide is designed for a quick first visit
UpCLOSE for independent travel that is cheap and well thought out
CityPack is a plastic pocket map with some guide information
Exploring is for cultural interests, lots of photos and designed to supplement the Gold guide
Lonely Planet
Lonely Planet has City and Out To Eat Guides. They are all about the experience so they focus on doing, being, getting there, and this means they have the best detailed information, including both inexpensive and really spectacular restaurants and hotels, out-of-the-way places, weird things to see and do, the list is endless.

How could anyone not enjoy this book? The first page had me hooked. As some of the others have already stated, it's fun to use these questions on other people as well as yourself. The cover on my copy is worn out from people borrowing it. Sure, there are some publishing mistakes, but the joy these people had while making this book comes across like gangbusters. If you're looking for in-depth analysis of your favorite oldies, forget it. If you're looking for interesting tidbits, off-the-wall trivia and fun, then you'll enjoy it! The title says it all: jukebox TRIVIA...not jukebox analysis. You got a problem with that? Look up "trivia" in the dictionary.
Ho hum.......2003-05-25
This unprofessionally put together book (just look at the table of contents) is nothing new, and the questions are certainly not "fantastic." The format is the same old same old multiple choice and the supposed trivia is stuff we already know or worse, don't care about. The author's foil answers are supposed to be funny, but they're rather goofy. What a waste of money.

Not a bad little book! This book actually throws in trivia I never heard before. Most Rock trivia books I come across relay the same old tired facts. This one is refreshing; it has some really rare, obscure and totally interesting facts about rock stars and music from the 50's, 60's and 70's. One of the fun things about it is the format: there are 1,001 questions with multiple choice answers, with the answers in the back. It's especially fun with a group of people! This book brings the fun back to Rock & Roll! Highly recommended.
