A truly magnificent manuscript on the African wild!.......1998-10-13

This is a "must" for all those who have been on an African safari, or who are contemplating this magical journey. This manuscript is practical, offering tips for first-timers, and beautifully written so that the reader will understand the animals' behavior. In addition, there are over 700 gorgeous photographs, obviously taken by a photographer who understands his subject matter. Indeed, one need not go far to read others' works. The author includes excerpts from Hemingway, Dinesen, Stanley and the like - those who fell in love in and with Africa. The truly adventuresome! The author also includes excerpts from his own diary which enlightens the reader to the humorous side of the African safari experience. It is truly the ultimate book!

Great Vacation Planner.......2006-12-24

This book was an excellent resource in planning my second Disney cruise. I like to research as much as possible before taking a vacation and this guide gave me lots of information I needed. I especially used the reveiws and ratings of the shore excursions to help select which ones were best for my family. They also offer great budget and planning information and offer a behind-the-scenes look at what fun activites there are to do on the ship. I would never have thought to participate in the treasure hunt on Castaway Cay without them. The links to other websites to find more information was also a big help. Finally, they have a great website where you can get the most recent updates to whatever your edition is missing and color downloads of the ships deck plans. Overall, it's an excellent resource!

Don't bother buying both. This one is much more useful and easy to use. I agree with the comments above. Start your cruise early by buying this guide and really get the most for your money! I feel like it is stretching the experience and giving me a head start by familiarizing me with what to expect.

Do consider ditching your nice luggage for nylon totes/something easily compactable or at least nesting - we are bringing the ones we use to pack our camping gear in when we travel because they are thin, strong and hold a lot, plus they collapse completely and will take up much less space in our cabin.

Taking a Disney Cruise? This is the only book you need!.......2004-07-15

Once again, Jennifer Watson and Dave Marx have done an outstanding job with the new edition of the Passporter Field Guide to the Disney Cruise Line! This volume is comprehensive, informative and easy-to-use. The authors are genuine Disneyphiles and their affection for all things Disney is evident in every page of this book. However, they are not blind to its (few) flaws and are careful to let readers know aspects of their trips did not meet their standards. This book is very carefully researched, right down to which meals and restaurants are the best, which cabins are quietest, which cabins have "secret" portholes and which on-shore excursions are best value for the money. Readers will really appreciate their insider tips on how to get the most from their Disney cruise. And the information in the book is regularly updated on the authors' website. I have been vacationing at Disney for decades and Passporter has been my vacation guide ever since they started publishing it. You're going to be spending thousands of dollars on your Disney cruise...spend a few dollars more and you'll be investing in a book that will really help you get the most out of your vacation. Passporter is outstanding and worth every cent!

Read cover to cover in Preparation for my very first cruise. This book has covered every detail. What to pack, what to expect from the ship and what to expect on the shore excursions even what the terminal looks like when we arrive at the port. Both shore excursions I have booked,(BEFORE BUYING THIS GUIDE) are rated very low...One even said don't bother. I'm hoping they were wrong about them. Excellent, Thourough book!

For family vacations which involve a certain investment ($$$) I like to know what to look for. This book does an excellent job of detailing the Disney Cruise ship and helped us plan our vacation from departure through the shore excursions and our return.

This is the best book on the market if you're planning a Disney Cruise in the future. There's more information offered than any of the other books I've purchased for our former cruises. It offers views from more than one person, including a child's point of view. I was so impressed by the information in this book I also bought the PassPorter's Field Guide to Walt Disney World. Both of these books will go with us on our trip in the near future. The only thing I didn't like was the photos, no color, so it's hard to tell just how beautiful the ship is if you haven't seen it before.

We recently went on the West Coast Disney Cruise in August and had a wonderful time. This was our first cruise, so we did not know much about cruising, Disney, etc. The book was well written and gave the pertinent information that was needed to make our trip successful and stress free. I highly recommend it and by reading it, it will make you excited for your trip!!

I was a bit sceptical since the author is a devoted Disney lover, but I have been quite impressed. We haven't gone on the cruise yet (we have another few months), but the book has been a wealth of information and a huge help in planning the other pieces to the cruise. Great investment if you've booked a Disney cruise!

Excellent project!.......2006-09-23

I was given this as a gift and I thoroughly enjoyed it. You have to take your time with this and its going to take quite a few hours to make. It looks really good when complete. If you have never worked with paper or origami or any kind of similar craft this will be a challenge. Overall it was excellent.

One tip: I used a little too much glue when affixing everything to the base so it came out a little wrinkled. I suggest you only use thin glue or a very light amount of glue when affixing things to the base. It will look much better if the base is very flat. This minimal use of glue is probably a good rule of thumb for the whole model but everything came out fine for me, just the base was a little wrinkled.

"crammed with historical detail" (from the back of the book).......2006-07-30

This little project took two adults a long Friday night and all day Saturday to put together, but the finished product was a big hit with the giftee. My fingers are still numb from using the scissors, and I would have given up 15 times, but my partner soldiered on (or should I say knighted) so I had to follow suit. I wouldn't have bought it if I'd known what I was getting into, but now I'm glad we did it.

Very hard for a beginner, but fabulous looking when done.......2006-07-17

I've never done any modeling, but I thought this would be an interesting project to do with my 7-year-old since we're studying the Middle Ages over the summer. I spent a week trying to put the thing together. It says to use quick drying glue, but gave no suggestions. Several of the glues I used just didn't stick to the slick surface. Finally, I gave up. I was visiting my Dad the next week and he does balsa model airplanes as a hobby. He told me that paper is one of the hardest modeling materials. We spent many hours over the next week putting it together. Not all the pieces fit correctly and had to be modified. (One of the towers was too big around, for instance.) We also mounted it on a piece of corrugated carboard, which helped with the stability of the whole thing. He taught me some of the tricks of the trade and we used 4 different types of glue, depending on the situation. When we were finished, it looked fabulous, but it was really difficult.

A Fortune of Fun for $10.......2003-06-10

This model has been an absolute kick to make. I am an overstressed financial executive and mother of an almost-four-year-old and this book has become my evening therapy. Although my daughter can't help with the building (it's fairly complicated and requires careful cutting), she loves watching me put it together while she plays with the tiny cut-out characters. She has spent hours making up versions of fairy tales while she watches me put the castle together. A great value for someone who likes making things and is looking for a pick-up project that doesn't require a workshop or special equipment.

Decent book, less appealing information.......2005-12-15

Most of the book was very helpful to get my young niece to understand the care of the dwarf hamsters, but I had to correct a few things for her, for instance, they suggest pine or cedar bedding for them, although they do mention that cedar MIGHT not be the best choice, either of these materials are extreemly inappropriate for any small animal, bird, or reptile. They also suggest giving daily fruit treats, I have to disagree, while this is fine for syrians (goldens, etc...), dwarf hamsters are much more likely to develop diabeties, so PLEASE watch the sugar intake, even of natural sugars like fruit.

As a child, I unfortunately encountered problems with addiction in my family. I was given this book by a ffriend of my mother's. Together, my mom and I would read it, and it ultimately helped me cope with understanding "daddy's problem." I believe this is an excellent choice for children who are seeing the effects of addiction in their families. It is also a very informative books for those fortunate children who do not have to deal with addiction. It was definitely a huge help for me!

This title is a valuable tool in dealing with addiction issues within a family. It assists a family member or other mentor in opening the lines of communication about virtually any tough topic. The children's book gives the child an item to take ownership in. Meanwhile, obtaining the leaders guide that accompanies the children's book will assist adults in understanding the developmental stages and reactions that the child is experiencing. This is a valuable tool for families!

"The Light in the Living Room" was a wonderful "find" for me, as were the rest of the books in this series. This one is a true testimony of a fathers love for his daughter, and all of life. I loved the fact that he kept the light on in the living room when Ms. McKibbin was away from home...it was as if the light would help her find her way home, and that love was waiting for her there. This book is her fathers commentary, sent from the other side, on the various aspects of life. The message is simple and believable. One of my favorites was "Being Loved"..."How much are you loved? Imagine all the light you will see during every waking moment of your lifetime. Every minute outdoors during the day, every awareness of the sun shining when you're indoors, the stars--each one, the moon and its moonbeams, prisms shining through crystals, smiles and sparkling eyes, entities showering you with golden rays, fairies scattering pixie dust bout. This is a book full of beautiful ideas to enhance, declutter and decorate a living room. Jane looks at what the living room is used for and discusses various decoration themes based on the main use of the room.

Feng shui techniques are used, energy flow is explored, colour and fabric use is discussed and aromatherapy basics are introduced. Energy cleansing techniques and simple blessings are also touched on briefly, and ways of using sound and textures are also considered. Creative storage ideas and finishing touches lend a practical aspect.

This book was a little disappointing. It has wonderful illustrations, but not what I expected in the way of communicating with one's angels. There was too much information on Biblical angels and Bible references to angelic occurrences. Still the book is worth perusing, especially the last half. I would recommend it to anyone new to the "angel" world.

I bought a copy of this book as a gift for a friend. After I read it, I decided to keep it, and went out and bought several more for gifts. This book contains a delightful mixture of experiences with guardian angels from a variety of perspectives--all with a solid ring of truth to them.

This book was wonderful, it hit the spot. It made me feel great. Short angel stories are my favorite and I had purchased this book so I can read while getting my hair done. I found myself under the dryer for two hours reading and had not realized it, I was that much into it. Keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't believe in angels, you just might reconsider the possibility after reading "Angel Country." Author Ria Biley is not suggesting that angels are limited to the state of Maine, rather, this is where she became consciously aware of angels in her life.
"Angel Country," a neat little biography of what angels are and how they manifest to anyone open to their presence, is a compilation of true stories about "ordinary people whose lives have been touched in extraordinary ways. They tell of rescues, healings, voices and visions-miracles large and small, touching all levels of the human condition."
Biley, who believes the writing of this book chose her, points out that she believed in the activity of angels in her life years before beginning this book, and that the timing of angels as an "in thing" was synchronistic to when her book was published. This, to her, speaks of the relevance and power of angels in our lives.
Following a section on topics like how angels manifest, degree of encounters, and why angels are interested in us, Biley moves into the stories of angels by degree of encounter in the lives of people who live in Maine, although the angelic encounters may not have taken place here.
Some of these interventions were quite dramatic, such as one Biley experienced firsthand, when she was miraculously saved from certain death in a sudden, impending car wreck-ultimately, the vehicles never so much as touched.
Biley tells us that nearly every angelic encounter in her book had an eyewitness account to the intervention.
I suspect the most common form of an angelic encounter is when an individual stops what s/he is about to do at the sound of a voice warning of either impending danger, or to do something other than what they were about to do.
Two stories shared by different people (different times/places) who, while driving, heard a commanding "voice" instruct them to "pull over" or "slow down"-both individuals were spared what surely would have been serious, if not deadly car accidents by heeding the instructions given by these voices.
As further explanation on what angels are, Biley tells us that there is evidence to "support the conviction that Angelic civilization existed long before Man." And, although "we don't become Angels after death, we do join them, and get to live on the same spiritual plane with them. Angels come to escort us from this life to the next-they accompany our souls home to the dwelling place of the Creator."

For anyone who adamantly believes in the power of God and His helpers, or at least continues to have faith that acts of kindness are possible in a world overrun by violence and turmoil, Angel Country offers an outlet of that faith and offers the theory that perhaps there is indeed a benefit to prayer. One need not look to Maine to find angels, but as Biley believes, it is not a bad place to start.
