Stunning photographs of wild tigers! Great Book!.......2004-11-17

Tiger Forest - A Visual Study of Ranthambhore National is a very beautiful book containing some stunning photographs of wild tigers in their natural setting. Unlike many other books on tigers, Tiger Forest features only images taken in the wild and this clearly shows, as there are so many glorious pictures of tigers in open landscapes, around lakes and in deep forest. The forest of Ranthambhore is also revealed in exceptional detail, illustrating the Chris Brunskill's versatility as a photographer. This book will appeal to anyone interested in wild tigers, it really is a superb volume of photographs.

Oh, WHY did I ever clean out my closet?.......2007-10-11

From the vantage point of a historian, I value this book as a lavishly illustrated and researched book about the clothing of an era, and how that clothing reflected the intense cultural changes of the 1960s. The outstanding representation of the society of the decade with photographs, drawings, album covers, movie posters and art brought the text to life.

As a Baby Boomer, I saw this book as a nostalgic glance at my school days -- virtually a yearbook for graduates of the Mods, Rockers and Hippie school of fashion.

Fashions of a Decade: The 1960s is highly recommended for the history student, fashion student, or anyone looking for an authentic look into the heart of an era. Brava!

I really enjoyed this book. Its an interesting read about the effect of WWII on world fashion and also a helpful resorce guide to fashion and trends of the era. I must for any vintage clothing collector or swing kid!

I borrowed this book along with the other volumes (1940 to 1970 )from my library. This was exactly what I need for my assignment of different body types and the power of non verbal communication. It was very interesting and would recommend buying. This book was outstanding!

I thought this book was well written, even if it is supposedly for kids. It was full of information, pictures, and interesting trivia. As a free-lance writer and researcher of the Twenties, it's a good book to have in one's personal library!

Great Source Book for historical costumes!.......1998-03-20

I found this book to be well writen and researched. The illustrations were great, and very inspiring. I can't wait to try and sew some of these fashions myself. The historical aspects of the Fashions of the 1940s was very informative.

Nice reference for a beginner.......2003-09-14

Contrary to the first review of this book, I ordered it anyway & feel that once you understand the concept of it (what to do each season of the year rather than in general) it can be a great help, especially to beginners. It tends to read like a novel with headings alphabetically arranged in each season. I very much like this book. It would be great for those who like to read the entire book instead of having neat headings for each topic.

C.Z. Guest has been providing garden knowledge to readers for almost 30 years through her newspaper columns and has finally compiled some of the most common questions into one place. Geared towards the novice gardener, Guest's book is organized (or dis-organized!?) according to season and then, alphabetically. Despite some good basic (very basic) information, the book's lack of flow and sensible organization makes it a disaster to read or to use as a reference. Each "season" section contains varied information that may or may not pertain to that season, and some things appear more than once. For example, annual flowers are discussed under the Winter section because there is the briefest of paragraphs suggesting starting annual flower seeds in the winter, but an annual question also appears in the Spring section. Trying to follow alphabetically within the season is also futile since titles are inconsistent - some plants are discussed specifically while others are grouped together, etc. Thankfully it is fully indexed so you can get a quick look-up by subject. Information provided throughout the book is pretty mundane and something you will most likely know if you have been gardening for any amount of time. Guest's entire comment on daylily in the Spring section is: "You can plant day lilies in the spring or fall since they tolerate a wide range of growing conditions. Some bloomers are better than others, such as 'Happy Returns', a compact 18-inch yellow variety that will bloom all summer long. It is a true yellow and will blend beautifully with other flowers." There is a longer comment on daylilies in the fall section - but there is no indication that the reader should look there for more detailed info. This book may be worthwhile afternoon scan (the library's copy, of course) but does not stand alone as a garden reference guide worthy of the avid gardener's shelf.

"THE" indispensable reference for the subject.......1997-08-23

Mac McGrew has comiled an amazingly complete sample book of very nearly every metal typeface made in the United States in the 20th century, which number in the thousands. The addition of additional notes and tidbits makes it more entertaining, but primarily this is an encyclopedic reference, showing each typeface, with information on designer, foundry, history of the face, and cross-references to closely related faces. Highly recommended

For anyone in 2007 to call African American Blacks "Negroes" not only demonstrates ignorance on your end, but that your level of thinking undermines what America everyday is trying to achieve everyday.

I think this book makes the step that ideas like yours fail to do. The sooner certain facets of America can resolve their issues with other facets of America then we can move forward.

Short Sighted.......2007-05-18

Most negroes in America are in fact mixed with white or other blood. How can a negro mixed with the blood of the slave holder have a claim against the slave holder ? Isnt that a claim against himself ?

What is never considered is what the negro owes America for rescuing them from the Various Slavers in Africa and giving them the opportunity to earn their freedom, how many negroes in the USA are better off than their counterparts that stayed in Africa today and now live in mud huts ?
