This was the most useful book I purchased before my trip to Napa (and I purchased quite a few) their descriptions of the Vinyards and restaurants were perfect, and it is easy to navigate. The prices were sometimes a little under-estimated some of the restaurant costs... but they were still closer to the mark than the other books.

I have bought a number of editions of this book over the years. It's always helpful when I go. They have given it a makeover this time and I like it. It's even easier to use. I lent my sixth edition to a neighbor and it came back dog-eared and well-worn. I guess they liked it too.

This book has always been helpful in my many trips to California wine country. It has a real insider feel to it that works for me. It's a must-have. I wish the authors did an Oregon edition.
Great inside guide to the wine country.......1999-05-12
Tim Fish has written a great guide that even Sonoma and Napa residents use to find their way to the best wineries, tasting rooms, and scenic byways in Northern California. I enjoyed his pace and personal style of commentary on the different wine types you will find, even though I sometimes disagreed with his taste. A great book to have with you as you drive around Sonoma and Napa.

Strongly recommended for experts or enthusiasts on the subject. An in-depth approach to some of the most important figures in early American history. Found the first volume more useful than the second only because information on people in the first volume is more rare. The passage on Tecumseh was a treat for the history buff and the passage on Lee provided a new insight on his personal life. A must read for history buffs!

This is one of several books in the "Concise Guide" series by Dr. Ramey. I'd definitely recommend all of the books to any horse owner. Not only are they well written and incredible informative, but they cover topics that any horse owner should be aware of (tendons, colic, medications, etcetera). This particular book covers the basics of nutrition for your horse. It does not get too technical like many nutrition books do, which then either scares the reader away, or bores them senseless. What is DOES cover is quite important: feed ingredients, when to feed, what to feed, supplements, knowing your horse's condition, feeding for maintenance, growth, reproduction, performance, and for disease.

Out of desperation for my 30 year old first pony, I bought this book hoping it could help me put some weight on him. It helped enormously in that it made me realise that fat isn't necessarily best when it comes to old horses, and it helped me to feed according to Billy's needs, not what I thought he should have! This book also helped me in forming a more nutritional feeding plan for my other horse, Astral, (Billy's girlfriend!) as she too is approaching her twilight years now and her diet needs to take this into account. All in all this was an easy read and dispelled for me many fears I have had over the years of what to feed my two, and cut out some of the nonsense that you inevitably pick up along the way. If you really love your horse(s) and want the best for him/her then I would strongly recommend this book to first time owners and those more experienced alike. It really is never too late to learn. Enjoy!
Written in plain English - easy to understand........1999-05-01
This book offers a very clear easy to understand summary of horse nutrition. As a horse owner in Bermuda we are very limited to what feed, supplements, hay etc. are available. It helps to have an outline of what your horse requires & this book is very helpful. I would say that every horse owner should read or own one of these books. I own several of the other books in this series which are also very informative. There are a lot of misconceptions that go along with what you should feed your horse & this book will help you understand some of the myths.

This book is wonderful! It has beautiful photographs and price estimates for each piece! I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in collecting the 1876 Cape Cod Collection!
Satisfying Insurance Requirements.......2006-03-13
The subject book is very well illustrated with actual photographs. The descriptions of each item are not consistent throughout. In some places dimensions are entered in fractions while in other places they are entered as decimals. We purchased the book to satisfy an insurance claim. Dimensions was one of the insurance requirements; however, none of the items in the book have their original cost which was also another requirement of the insurance forms.

Very informative and entertaining. I liked the "down home" stories and practical advise. Growing my own fruits and vegetables is very important in my attempt to establish a more self sufficient lifestyle. This book is a very enjoyable read from start to finish. Finding answers is also quick and easy. I'm looking forward to trying some of the tonics and also buying more of Mr. Bakers books.

This book really spoke to me. The writer details his life as an african american man trying to be accepted. He loved God and tried to emulate him but society would not allow it. His struggles were my struggles. It's excellent reading. I laughed and cried.
