      Product Description

      `History: Fiction or Science? Chronology 2` is the second volume of the most explosive and astounding tractate on history ever written - however, every theory it contains, no matter how unorthodox, is backed by rock solid scientific data. The book is easy and pleasant to read; it is well-illustrated, contains hundreds of charts, graphs and illustrations, copies of ancient manuscripts, and countless facts attesting to the falsity of the chronology used nowadays. You will be amazed to discover: - That the chronology universally accepted today and taken for granted is simply wrong; - That ALL methods of dating of ancient sources and artefacts known today are erroneous or non-exact; - That there is not a single document that could be reliably dated earlier than the XIth century; The Author refers to the Middle Ages as the “Antiquity” and proves mutual superimposition of the Second and the Third Roman Empire, both of which become identified as the respective kingdoms of Israel and Judah. Furthermore, he asserts that the famous reform of the Occidental Church in the XI century by “Pope Gregory Hildebrand” was the reflection of the XII century reforms of Byzantine emperor Andronicus who in his turn identifies with Jesus Christ. The Trojan war counted by Homer happened only as late as of the XIII century A.D. and the great poet actually lived in XIV century A.D. No stone in history of Antiquity is left unturned. Literally. This book is the beginning of a major correction to the chronology we live with.

      I don't care what other people say of this book. Those affirmig it's fake, they hadn't ever read it. Or have some special reasons to do so. "Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see..." This book won't make you feel comfortable. It'll make you feel free. It'll make you feel you're "not the only one" to feel you'd been lied to for centuries.

      Here is a serie of books which turns "the whole world" upside down. I learned a lot of it and I hope that a new book from A.T. Fomenko will follow very quick. A absolute must for everybody who is interested in history or even a little bit from it.

      5 out of 5 stars Prescient St Augustine?.......2006-02-05

      We can so far divide the New Chronology into the following three parts:

      a) The verifiable theory that proves consensual chronology wrong with the aid of astronomy, statistics and mathematics;

      b) The new chronology hypothesis based on a new understanding of known historical facts and the most likely logical explanation of the most obvious inconsistencies inherent in the official version of history;

      c) The history conjectures, that is experimental historical reconstructions based on assumptions that the authors believe to make sense in the light of their research and linguistic parallels - void of ironclad factual support to date.

      Fomenko's theory complies with the most rigid scientific standards as a whole:

      It gives a coherent explanation of what we already know.

      - It is consistent: independent lines of inquiry all lead to the same conclusion.

      - The predictions it makes are confirmed empirically.

      Fomenko goes by the following axioms:

      - Chronology is the basis of history;

      - Human evolution has always been linear, gradual and irreversible;

      - The "cyclic" nature of human civilization is a myth, likewise all the gaps, duplicates, "dark ages" and "renaissances" that we know from consensual history;

      - The accumulation of geographical knowledge as reflected in cartography is a gradual and irreversible process;

      - The chronological distance between a given manuscript and the events described therein is proportional to the amount of distortions it contains;

      - There is no "useless" information in authentic ancient sources.

      Why the mainstream historians do not shower mathematician Academician Dr.Prof Fomenko with thanks and laurels?

      The Russians:

      Because Fomenko asserts that there was no such thing as the Tartar and Mongol invasion followed by three centuries of slavery, providing a formidable body of documental evidence to prove his assertion. The so-called "Tartars and Mongols" were the actual ancestors of the modern Russians, living in a bilingual state with Arabic spoken as freely as Russian. The ancient Russian state was governed by a double structure of civil and military authorities. The hordes were actually professional armies with a tradition of lifelong conscription (the recruitment being the so-called "blood tax"). Their "invasions" were punitive operations against the regions that attempted tax evasion. Fomenko proves that Russian history as we know it today is a blatant forgery concocted by a host of German scientists brought to Russia by the usurper dynasty of the Romanovs, whose ascension to the throne was the result of coup d'état, charged with the mission of making their reign look legitimate. Fomenko proves Ivan the Terrible to be a collation of four rulers, no less. They represented the two rival dynasties - the legitimate rulers and the ambitious upstarts. The winner took it all! Over some 30 years of controversy, Russian historians have made a most remarkable transition - they were initially accusing the young mathematician Fomenko of anticommunist dissident activity and attempts to deface the historical legacy of Soviet Russia; nowadays the middle-aged mathematician is accused of adhering to "pro-communist Russian nationalism" and defacing the proud historical legacy of Great Russia.

      The Westerners:

      Because Fomenko blows consensual Russian history to smithereens, successfully removing a crucial cornerstone from underneath the otherwise impeccable edifice of World History. Fomenko adds insult to injury, wiping out one by one the Ancient Rome (the foundation of Rome in Italy is dated to the XIV century A. D.), the Ancient Greece and its numerous poleis, which he identifies as the mediaeval crusader settlements on the territory of Greece, and the Ancient Egypt (the pyramids of Giza become dated to the XI-XV century A. D. and identified as the royal cemetery of the Global "Mongolian" Empire, no less). The civilization of the Ancient Egypt is irrefutably dated to the XII-XV century A. D. with the aid of the ancient Egyptian horoscopes cut in stone. He was the first one to decipher and date all such horoscopes, coming up with mediaeval dates in every case. English historians rage at the suggestion that the history of Ancient England was de facto a Byzantine import transplanted to the English soil by the fugitive Byzantine nobility. To reward the English historians who consider themselves the true scribes of World History, the cover of the present book portrays Tintoretto's Jesus Christ crucified on the Big Ben.

      The Chinese:

      Because Fomenko wipes out the Ancient History of China outright. No such thing. Full point. The compilation of the so-called Ancient Chinese History is reliably datable to the XVII-XVIII century only. It is perfectly recognizable as the Ancient European history, reworked and transcribed in hieroglyphs as yet another historical transplantation, this time performed on the Chinese soil by the loving Jesuit hands. The Chinese are the next in line to go berserk. Chinese history is inevitably bound to get both more ancient and more eventful, proportionally to the growing involvement of China in the world affairs. Chinese historians will keep on finding valid proof of prehistoric Chinese spaceflights until the Politburo orders them to shut up.

      The Arabs:

      Too bad. Islam with all its key figures is datable to XV-XVI century A. D. Arabic historians may find consolation in the crucial historical role of the Ottoman Empire in the XVI-XVII century. The trouble is that this empire was initially a Christian state, with Hagia Sophia identifiable as Temple of Solomon, according to Fomenko! We can only guess if the acquisition of Alexander the Great (a Macedonian and a Christian) as the founder of the Muslim World Empire will make Fomenko's theories more acceptable to the Arabic mainstream. He certainly does not spare any holy cows at all, claiming The Stone of Qa'Aba in Mecca to contain the lost Arch of the Covenant.

      The Divinity:

      Despite of reiterated statement that his theory is all about chronology and not Religion, Fomenko stirs up a whole condominium of wasp nests. His collection of anathemas, fatwa, and other condemnations from all parties concerned is already considerable. Little wonder, considering that the history of religions à la Fomenko looks as follows: the pre-Christian period (before the XI century and JC), Bacchic Christianity (XI-XII century, before and after JC), JC Christianity (XII-XVI century) and its subsequent mutations into Orthodox Christianity, the Catholicism, Islam, Buddhism, and so on.

      According to Fomenko we know strictly NOTHING about the events that predate the X century A. D.

      St Augustin was prescient when he spoke unto us: "be wary of mathematicians, particularly when they speak the truth."

      4 out of 5 stars Something of a disappointment.......2005-09-09

      After having read the first volume of this expected series of 7 volumes I was triggered by the thesis of these authors that ancient Greek and Roman history did in fact take place in the Middle Ages. So I started studying medieval history of the Middle East - also known as Islamic history - to find out if the opponents of the ancient Greeks and Romans - the Acheamenid Persians, Sassanids, Scythians, Egyptians, etc. - also have their duplicates in medieval history. My search was disappointing: none of the many medieval Islamic dynasties seemed to correspond to the ancient middle eastern rulers.

      However, I did find a close correspondence between Herodotus' Persian kings and medieval events:

      - the defeat and capture of an Anatolian king - the Lydian Croesus - by the Persian conqueror Cyrus is identical to the defeat and capture of another Anatolian king - sultan Bayezid - by the Asian/Mongol conqueror Tamerlane;
      - the Persian conquest of Egypt by the cruel tyrant Cambyses reds almost exactly as the Ottoman conquest of Egypt by Selim the Grim (note the nickname!);
      - Darius the Lawgiver of the Persian Empire looks very much alike to Sulayman the Magnificent, the Lawgiver in Islamic history;
      - Xerxes, whose main claim to fame is to be defeated by the Greeks at the naval battle of Salamis, looks like Selim II (the Sot) whose main claim to fame is to be defeated by a Spanish-Italian alliance at the naval battle of Lepanto.

      I should have expected Fomenko et al. to arrive at similar conclusions, however, they claim that the Persian kings are the alter egos of the Angevin kings of Sicily whose biographies do not contain the exploits of the Persian kings.

      The similiarities I indicate lead to the conclusion that Herodotus must have written his Histories at the close of the 16th century. But this is extremely late, given that Herodotus is "the Father of History", so therefore all other "ancient" histories must have been fabricated even later. Yet, the founders of modern chronology - Scaliger and Petavius - laid their foundations also at the close of the 16th century and had the full corpus of ancient histories already at their disposal.

      It seems to me that Fomenko has to address these inconsistencies, maybe in the forthcoming 5 volumes?

      Another critique of their book is that the correspondencies between different rulers are often based on a superficial comparison of the biographies; upon a more thorough comparison many details appear that do not correspond at all.

      Finally, the authors rely heavily on the works of Gregorovius (1821-1891!!) - his medieval histories of Rome and Athens - as the source of medieval history; these works are - at least in the West - hoplessly outdated and have been superceded by more up-to-date works (for instance, Julius Norwich's trilogy on Byzantine history is not even cited).

      5 out of 5 stars Romulus courts Helen, Paris founds Rome, Moses goes to Troy.........2005-07-30

      If you agree with Fomenko that Roman chronology is basically the foundation of the entire edifice of global chronology; you would also certainly agree that despite its numerous gaps and inconsistencies, Roman history is the best-documented field of ancient history, and thus a reference scale. But how well is the actual date of the Eternal City's foundation known?

      Firstly, Rome is supposed to have been founded by the Trojans who had to flee after the fall of Troy. Some claim Rome to have been founded by Aeneas and Ulysses shortly after Troy had fallen; others are of the opinion that there was an entire dynasty that ruled for 500 years between the fall of Troy and the foundation of Rome.

      Well, that's just an innocent 500 years long misunderstanding compared with what heretic Fomenko says, asserts, proves in his second volume: Second Roman Empire, Third Roman Empire, Biblical Kingdom of Israel, Biblical Kingdom of Judah, Holy Roman Empire are stories about basically same events, written from different points of view at different times. The underlying events have actually taken place during xii-xv cy. These histories have been written and perfected by multitude of highly talented humanist and clerical writers of xiii-xvi cy disguised as "ancients" with glorious names like Homer, Pluto, Thucydides etc..Chronology 2.0 beta..

      Historians are kindly invited to report the bugs.

                Book Description

                This book presents the winning work from Supon Design Group's first competition of International Self-Promotion. Featured are 229 projects from 18 countries -- many never before published. These include workspace, wearables, seasonable gifts, posters, brochures, and more.

                Displaying a true understanding of marketing, image, and substance, 13 projects were chosen as recipients of the Editor's Choice Award. These came from studios scattered worldwide, from North America, Western Europe, Australia, and Asia.

                Awards of Achievement were given to three studios which displayed overall excellence in promotional strategy. The jury panel sought consistency in design and function, as exhibited over a variety of projects and objectives.

                While pondering the work in this book, remember that a studio's character is born from self-promotion. However executed, the bottom line is passive salesmanship: it is a studio's business to sell its image. Both professionals and students will appreciate how creatively these designers have represented themselves. Their work is meant to be appreciated, then emulated.

                      4 out of 5 stars Great Info book!.......2006-01-13

                      Get this one. It shows and tells what a novice needs to learn about antique furniture. Also...a great refresher for long-time antiquers.

                      4 out of 5 stars Good Reference.......2002-01-29

                      This book is good for a quick reference. It is filled with sketches that are grouped into categories (chairs, tables, beds).
                      It can help you identify the style of a piece of furntiture, but doesn't help authenticating the piece.

                      4 out of 5 stars Hundreds of detailed drawings!.......2000-04-13

                      Excellent and easy to use reference book, illustrates styles in thier purest form. Does not treat the subject of authenticity but notes characteristics and idiosyncracies of various examples.

                                  By using george's philosophy,I not only have made a lot of extra money for myself,but I am amazed by what I can get out of the casino for free.Most times they come to me and ask me if I need anything.I get free cigarettes,drinks,rooms,shows,money to spend in gift shop,etc.The system is wonderful,everyone should try it,it works.

                                  5 out of 5 stars Don't visit another Casino until you read this book!.......2003-03-07

                                  Ever since I first stepped into a casino, I always thought it would be useful to find a book or a guide that would provide an inside peek into the hidden and understated apsects of the casino world. George Pappadopoulos has written such a book. And in one pleasant read, anyone interested in really playing the casino game will find themselves winning - at all levels- very quickly.

                                  5 out of 5 stars Enjoying the Whole Black Jack Experience.......2003-02-26

                                  Mr. Pappadopoulos' first book allowed me to enjoy Black Jack as a table experience. It gave me the confidence I needed and some extra spending money.

                                  This book broadens the experience to include the whole casino and take advantage of its perks ("comps" in casino jargon).

                                  Definitely worth much, much more than the cost of the book.

                                  His easy writing style make his insights and experiences easy to grasp and internalize.

                                  5 out of 5 stars Blackjack's Hidden Secrets I & II.......2003-02-25

                                  I love Blackjack, but I hate trying to learn how to count cards. Besides if I got any good at counting cards, the Casinos would just throw me out anyway. These 2 books introduced me a new, simple, system that so far has been successful. It took a day or two to master, but after that, I have been a winner more times than a loser.

                                  Most importantly, I learned how to know when to quit for the day and actually leave with my winnings. An easy read and easy to understand. Book II helped me know how to get some of the amazing freebies the Casinos lavish on players.

With this two tape set you can learn George's winning NO card counting system or just use it as a brush up on his techniques while driving or flying to your gambling destination. A great addition to his two books or as a first time purchase.

                                  5 out of 5 stars Discipline and these tapes make you a winner!.......2004-12-29

                                  The second installment of Blackjack's Hidden Secrets simplifies your gaming approach to five steps. On the surface they are simple, but the secret to your success is STEP 5 - Discipline (to do steps 1 - 4). Couple the expertise in these tapes with hours of practice, and you'll have a winning approach to making money at blackjack!

                                  This does not involve card counting, and this play is permitted at casinos. With this program, I have an 82% win rate. But it does take practice!

                                  I have given this as a gift to every gambling pal I have. Give it a try.

                                    Book Description

                                    This is a reprint of an edition first published in 1983. It includes a list of corrections which have come to light since then. The edition includes a Praefatio which sheds light on the relationship between the major manuscripts; there is also a full apparatus which reports the significant readings from fresh collations of the major manuscripts, and established a text based on a full account, with discussion where necessary, of all important suggestions published before 1980 or suggested privately to the editor. It also includes an appendix which lists all variant readings known to the editor but which are unlikely to be helpful in establishing a text. The edition will be the starting point for any serious work on the epic.

                                    With over 2,500 entries covering all aspects of dance, this unique dictionary is the only one of its kind available. It is the most comprehensive and up-to-date dictionary of dance in paperback, ranging from classical ballet to the cutting edge of modern dance. It provides all the information necessary for dance fans to navigate the current diverse dance scene. During the last twenty years the boundaries of dance have been radically redrawn. There has been an explosion of new activity within traditional forms like ballet, a stream of new dance languages invented by fresh generations of choreographers, and there is a growing appreciation of cultural dance forms from around the world. Fans today are likely to attend performances as varied as Spanish flamenco, Indian bharata natyam, Japanese butoh, classical ballet, and post-modern dance. With an emphasis on performance - the dance we see in our theatres today - readers will find both fact and analysis on a wide range of subjects, from styles of dance and the history of dance companies and their productions, to dancers, choreographers, and technical terms.

                                    At the risk of stating the obvious like a darn fool, it is a dictionary in every sense of the word. Arranged in alphabetical order, this book contains encyclopaedic entries on famous dancers, choreographers, dance companies from around the world, dance terminology and even composers like Charles Ives and Richard Strauss (whose music were used in miscellaneous dances). From Alvin Ailey to the Zurich Ballet, it serves as a quick reference for seasoned followers of dance, while pure beginners might get lost in the mass of text. Those into visual aids will also be utterly disappointed for there's none here. But on the whole, it's still worth the space on your bookshelf.

                                      Book Description

                                      First published in 1984, Gerald Bordman's Oxford Companion to American Theatre is the standard one-volume source on our national theatre. Critics have hailed its "wealth of authoritative information" (Back Stage), its "fascinating picture of the volatile American stage" (The Guardian), and its "well-chosen, illuminating facts" (Newsday). Now thoroughly revised, this distinguished volume once again provides an up-to-date guide to the American stage from its beginnings to the present. Completely updated by theater professor Thomas Hischak, the volume includes playwrights, plays, actors, directors, producers, songwriters, famous playhouses, dramatic movements, and much more. The book covers not only classic works (such as Death of a Salesman) but also many commercially successful plays (such as Getting Gertie's Garter), plus entries on foreign figures that have influenced our dramatic development (from Shakespeare to Beckett and Pinter). New entries include recent plays such as Angels in America and Six Degrees of Separation, performers such as Eric Bogosian and Bill Irwin, playwrights like David Henry Hwang and Wendy Wasserstein, and relevant developments and issues including AIDS in American theatre, theatrical producing by Disney, and the rise in solo performance. Accessible and authoritative, this valuable A-Z reference is ideal not only for students and scholars of theater, but everyone with a passion for the stage.

                                      Book Description

                                      Anyone with an academic, professional, amateur, or recreational interest in the theatre is likely to want to look up details of particular plays sometimes - perhaps to check on the author, or on when they were first performed, or perhaps to see how many characters they have, and whether or not they would be suitable for their theatre company or drama group to perform. The Oxford Dictionary of Plays provides essential information on the 1000 best-known, best-loved, and most important plays in world theatre. Each entry includes details of title, author, date of composition, date of first performance, genre, setting, and the composition of the cast, and more. A synopsis of the plot and a brief commentary, perhaps on the context of the play, or the reasons for its enduring popularity, follow. Around 80 of the most significant plays - from The Oresteia to Waiting for Godot - are dealt with in more detail. Genres covered include: burlesque, comedy, farce, historical drama, kabuki, masque, melodrama, morality play, mystery play, No, romantic comedy, tragicomedy, satire, and tragedy. An index of characters enables the reader to locate favourite characters, and trace the trajectory of major historical and legendary characters - such as Iphigenia - through world drama, including in plays that do not have entries in the Dictionary. An index of playwrights, with dates, allows the reader to find all the plays included by a particular author.

                                      4 out of 5 stars Great review of important plays for academics.......2005-12-21

                                      This books is great for people with an academic interest in plays, or produce artful plays at theatres with an audience of 10-15 cognoscenti. It seems less useful for community theatres or colleges which produce plays that people like to see. If you want to find the first play in which a turnip was used to represent pluralism in a worker's collective, this would be a good book for you.

                                      One problem I have with this book is that it includes all of Shakespeare's plays. Shakespeare is so well documented it is hard to make a case to include his plays here. Is "Merry Wives of Windsor" really among the top 1,000 plays ever written?

                                      Also, this book does not include all (or even many?) Pulitzer-prize or Tony award winning plays, such as William Inge's Picnic. Of the 1,000 most important plays, the 50 or so Pulitzers should be among them. Also, it doesn't seem to include a lot of the more popular plays. Another problem is that it includes a great many non-English plays.

                                      Overall, this is great resource for people with an interest in theatrical literature from around the world.

                                        5 out of 5 stars An indispensable work for your bookshelf.......1998-08-24

                                        This totally necessary work just has to be there on your bookshelf! Herr Koegler deals not only with current dance, but he goes far back into history. If, for example, you read "Theater Street" and come across the passage about the "lovely Istomina". You are at a loss, but not for long - grab your Koegler and you will soon know all about Avdotia Istomina (1799-1848). A total must, you cannot do without it, it covers the lot.

                                          Book Description

                                          When Gerald Bordman's Oxford Companion to American Theatre appeared in 1984, critics and the general public highly praised it, including the distinguished actor Jose Ferrer who proclaimed, "I'm in awe of the scholarship and research that have gone into the making of this book." The book
                                          quickly established itself as the standard one-volume resource on the American stage.
                                          Now Bordman gives us an abridgement of his massive original volume, eliminating many entries on minor plays and figures but preserving the articles of the widest general interest. Containing over two thousand entries, it presents hundreds of biographical sketches and summaries of individual
                                          plays which cover the major achievements of playwrights Eugene O'Neill, Clifford Odets, Arthur Miller, Edward Albee, and many more. The volume also includes entries on performers ranging from Edwin Booth to John Barrymore, and from Jessica Tandy to James Earl Jones. It offers extensive treatment
                                          of that most American of theatrical forms, the musical, and of the often neglected achievements of the nineteenth century. In addition, this volume updates information on contemporary topics and includes a number of new articles.
                                          Affordable, compact, and eminently "companionable," this work retains those qualities of erudition and entertainment that so distinguished the parent volume and makes them available to a much wider readership.

                                          Okay, it's the Oxford Companion, which explains why so much space is devoted to English music-hall perennials such as Al Bowlly or Ray Noble. But this wrist-wrenching book covers the other bases, too, with copious material on jazz, blues, reggae, country, folk, and even light opera. A superb reference, a browser's delight, and one of the very few places you can read about Grand Funk Railroad, Stephane Grappelli, and the Grand Ole Opry on a single page. (Complaint: Leith Stevens and Shakin' Stevens made the cut, but somehow Cat has been omitted.)

                                          Book Description

                                          Harper's has called them "the best reference books in the language." And The Boston Globe wrote, "How did we ever get along before Oxford began to publish its thick, encyclopedic volumes which, modestly and accurately, it calls Companions?" From the redoubtable Oxford Companion to English
                                          Literature to the fascinating Oxford Companion to the Mind, these browsable volumes have long been acclaimed as goldmines of information, capturing in thousands of entries the essence of a particular field of interest.
                                          Now comes the newest addition to the Companion series, The Oxford Companion to Popular Music, encompassing in one alphabetic sequence all that is notable within this vast subject, everything from jazz, reggae, blues, and calypso, to Broadway musicals, rock and roll, and country western. There
                                          are hundreds of biographical entries on such diverse figures as John Philip Sousa and Ma Rainey, Fred Astaire and Joan Baez, Josef Lanner (the Father of the Viennese Waltz) and Mistinguett, Otis Redding and Prince. The great Broadway writers, performers, and musicals (including plot outlines) are
                                          all here: Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern; "South Pacific," "West Side Story," "Show Boat," "Porgy and Bess"; Mary Martin, Ethel Merman, Fanny Brice, Robert Preston. It covers rock groups from The Beatles, to Led Zeppelin, to Talking Heads; jazz figures such as Fats Waller,
                                          Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Bix Beiderbecke, and Louis Armstrong; folk singers such as Bob Dylan, Judy Collins, Joni Mitchell, and Arlo Guthrie; and country western figures such as Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette, Merle Haggard, and Johnny Cash. Not the least important
                                          feature is the many informative essays on particular genres of popular music, from operetta and waltz, to vaudeville and blues, to brass band and gospel. In the article "Popular Song (USA)," for instance, Gammond traces our popular musical heritage from "Yankee-Doodle," to "Jump, Jim Crow" (a
                                          popular minstrel tune that was America's first international song hit in 1832), to "Dixie" (written by Northerner Daniel Decatur Emmett in 1859), to "Carry Me Back to Old Virginny" (written by James Bland, the first great Afro-American songwriter), to "Alexander's Ragtime Band" and the enormous
                                          outpouring of song in the 20th century. As in any Oxford Companion, one of the great pleasures is the discovery of odd, colorful details--for example, that "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" may date back to the time of the Crusades, or that singer Frankie Laine (who recorded "Rawhide" and other hit
                                          tunes) holds the all-time dance marathon record: 3,501 hours in 145 consecutive days. And throughout, Gammond includes generous cross-referencing as well as helpful bibliographies for the larger entries.
                                          This authoritative and comprehensive volume offers a matchless tour of the popular music world, providing a balance between substantial information and a concise assessment of the subject.

                                          When i first bought this book ten years ago, i was already an old rock fan but i didn't know much about JEROME KERN and IRVING BERLIN even if their names were familiar;this book made me aware of them.Plots,songs and original cast of all the classic musicals from SHOWBOAT to the present time are included here.What was the name of that musical in which MARY MARTIN first made MY HEART BELONGS TO DADDY a popular song;you'll find out.Were was JIMI HENDRIX born?Why are the early LOUIS ARMSTRONG recordings so important to the developpment of jazz and popular music?Who founded LE CHAT NOIR that famous cabaret that made ARISTIDE BRUANT a well known name around MONTMARTRE and after that throughout FRANCE.I could go on and on , but since i don't want to bore you,i'll suggest that you get a copy of that book and cancel your plans for the week-end because if you like music, you'll be hooked for good.
