I picked this book up before a trip to Europe last summer. I didn't have a clue about how to pack until I read this book. It truly saved me from having to much stuff to lug around.My niece is going to Italy for her first trip abroad and I am getting ready to send her one.It is a great gift for someone planning a trip ...anywhere!

We waited too long to get the book before our trip. The book was helpful for the short time we had. We were able to pick different parts out and use them to suit our trip. Now that we are back, a little studying is in order.

I picked this book up at the National Gallery of Art in Washinton DC in the summer of 1998. It's a beautiful collection of old French posters, programs and advertisements. A wonderful addition to a collection of either art or French history books!

Every breed that I know is there, and there are a lot of dogs there that I didn't know existed. And the two pictures of the AMERICAN COCKER SPANIELS are great!!! I love the pictures, I think they are one of the best representatives of the breed. Even the very rare ones, even though the info is short, it still gives you an ides of what the dog is like. And the introduction is VERY helpful!!! GREAT FOR NEW DOG OWNERS, DOG LOVERS, DOG FANS, AND EVEN THOSE THAT JUST LIKES TO LOOK AT THE DIFFERENT KINDS OF DOG!!! My friends and I LOVE it!

.... Every purebread dog breed is in this thing. There is about 2 pages of written material for each dog! Oh, and let's not forget the pictures! Many dogs have 2 or 3 pictures in this book! It's alphabetical, so it's easy to find the perfect breed in the index or just by paging through. If you love to look at all the breeds of dogs, or are thinking about getting a dog, BUY THIS BOOK!

There are many books about dog breeds available, but The International Encyclopedia of Dogs is the most thorough and entertaining. This is about Brass. Not Copper.......2001-12-25

Although the books is correct in it's title, "Copper and it's alloys" leading you to believe it's mostly about pure copper items,,,,it's all about brass. The title should have been "Metalwork in America - Brass" Photos are black & white sepia toned. The book is physically well made and on good paper.

Anyone who has read Tom Ogren's book "Allergy Free Gardening" knows it is the bible of all allergy books. I recommend this book just as highly -- Ogren's scientific, common-sense approach to allergies is something that will benefit anyone with allergies, and anyone who has friends or relatives with allergies. I very highly recommend both of these books!!

A must read.......2004-07-08

Safe Sex in the Garden should be required reading for anybody that is in any way involved with making decisions on what plants will be part of both our public and private spaces. Statistics only confirm how pervasive allergies are in the Los Angeles area and the toll this condition takes on the quality of our daily lives and work. I wish for full disclosure from plant growers regarding the potential health impact of the supposed convenience of this cultivars and more widespread knowledge on what company each plant should keep. Thank you. This book could improve the lives of many of us.

Fascinating - not dry reading at all.......2003-07-03

You have to love a book with a title like this. You might think a book about allergies and plant sex would be dull, but Ogren's writing style is lively and he knows how to convey information in a fun way. I wish he'd been my science teacher in high school! Everyone who's thinking about doing some landscaping, or has allergies, should read this. I know it's made me think more carefully about what I plant.

A must for everyone's bookshelf.......2003-06-09

This and Ogren's previous book, "Allergy-Free Gardening" should be on everyone's shelf, whether they garden or not. If you want to know why allergy incidence has quadrupled in the last few decades and asthma deaths have reach alarming numbers, this book explains it. Ogren's OPALS ranking scale can help us choose appropriate trees for our own gardens, plus he gives lists of recommended ground covers, poisonous plants, "super trees" and discusses pet allergies and all sorts of other relevant topics.

The book is well-written and easy to understand, even when your sinuses are clogged and your eyes are running.

Dancer Ink is a beautiful collection of photographs encompassing a wide range of dancers, photographers, settings and moods. What I liked about it was the theatrical and vivid look at these people told through pictures. There's not much else to be said. Whether you enjoy creative photography, or the interesting images dancers can lend to a picture, you will enjoy this book.

Sir Richard Burton was an explorer, linguist, scholar, soldier, anthropologist, and writer. Burton used his own resources to fund expeditions to map new trade routes, identify and catalogue natural resources, and analyze political, religious, and economic systems in foreign countries. Visit these places in Seattle at your own risk!.......2006-11-02

This past weekend 10/29-29 2006, ten people were sent to the hospital, three in very critical condition following a weekend of gunfire and violence in downtown Seattle! These stabbings and shooting didn't happen in Rainier Valley south of downtown (the Valley of Death) where most of the gunshot victims come from, these came FROM DOWNTOWN SEATTLE.
My advice: If you visit Seattle, come wearing a bulletproof or Kevlar vest! Drug gang violence is out of control in the city.
As for the so-called best places in this book, many of the street corners of these "best places" are OWNED by drug dealers who stand there in rain or shine selling meth or crack, while the police look on and do nothing because they say THEY DON'T HAVE PROBABLE CAUSE! Yeah, sure ya bet cha! It just turns out the drug lords are better armed than the police.

Great Guide For Your Trip!.......2005-10-08

I recently went to Seattle for the first time this past Sept. I used this guide and it was the best thing I did. Everything was clear and informative and on the money. Easy to navigate with this guide as far as getting around town and what to do while you're there and even side trips to Bristish Columbia. I had a GREAT time there and I will be going again soon. I recommend this to anyone planning a trip to Seattle.

Now I am planning a visit to Seattle, and of course the latest Frommer's edition is obligatory for complete informations about a place to visit. I do appreciate very much the "What's new" in the beggining of every Frommer's guide with latest info and the Architecture tips (whenever applicable). Light to carry, must be always in the handbag or photobag during a trip. Good clean maps.

This book is really the best book I've ever found with scientific information about kangaroos.

Most of the books available in the US are either for children, or mainly focussed around photography. This book is extremely valuable as an authoritative factual source on biology and behaviour. If one ever gets annoyed by someone repeating some old chestnut about 'roo biology or behaviour (like competition with sheep, or not being able to move their legs independently) this book is likely to provide a good, convincing answer to them.

Absolute must for anyone interested in macropods........1998-04-10

This book is one of the few, if not the only, modern looks at macropods and their habitats. It is factual and informative. Not an easy read for the lay-person. It is more of a text book than a coffee table book. Still, if you are interested in macropds, it is a must have.

Not what I thought.......2002-01-11

It's a lovely book, but I thought it would be more discography, picture, and biography related. It's a collection of articles that have written before and now reprinted. It has a nice section of fan stories and they are the highlight of this book. There is NO new revalations on Olivia that any die-hard fan doesn't know or hasn't known in the past about Olivia. I was hoping for a book that would be useful in research on Olivia. Maybe Olivia's story will be told by Olivia herself soon and it will be the must have book on Olivia surely, not this one. Sorry about that chief :o(

A Nice Book for all Olivia fans to Own..........2001-11-09

This book is a great book to have if you are an Olivia fan. Mr. Wincentsen does a fantastic job piecing together magazine articles, quotes and fan stories and artwork. I would highly reccomend this book to NEW Olivia fans who want to know more about this lady and how she's touched fans all around the world. I love how he used articles from the last 35 or so years to chronicle how Olivia has been covered in the press. There's some nice quotes in here that the lady has made too....all in all, I highly reccommend this book.

Multi-dimensional Issues for Poetic Consideration.......2006-08-26

The author talks about how-- the history of her country (Ireland), her experiences growing up in London and New York, the culture of poets, and her process of self realization all influenced the development of her poetic voice. This isn't a book just for Irish poets or women, the issues she discusses go to the heart of why people write the poetry they do and what expectations they have in doing so as well as how it influences other poets.

More than anything, her book shows the many ways in which we can find ourselves in different environments and roles throughout the course of our lives. She goes from daughter to exile to urbanite to rural to suburb to mother as well as exploring her own ancestry. She discusses the culture and politics of nations, poetry, and gender.

A good read for people who aren't even interested in poetry.

I first read Eavan Boland in an Irish literature class in college. Her writing is magical, lyrical, ethereal and forces you realize the power of identity, language, culture.
