Book Description
With so many famous sights and over-advertised attractions in Florida, travelers may inadvertently find themselves caught in the tourist route through the state. Hidden Florida offers a better option. While it tells readers how to best enjoy the top spots in Miami, Orlando, and the Keys, it also leads them to lesser-visited destinations that reveal the natural beauty and local character of the Sunshine State. For example, travelers can sleep with the fishes at a former research lab that has been transformed into a unique lodge located 22 feet beneath the surface of the sea. Or they may choose to feast on Old Florida favorites like gator tail, frog legs, and catfish at a backcountry eatery. From snorkeling and surfing to camping and hiking, there are abundant opportunities for outdoor adventures at the150 beaches and 129 parks detailed in this guide. The author describes over 400 attractions at over 50 locales across the state and reviews dining spots including 125 fresh seafood restaurants and 22 Cuban eateries. Each title in the Hidden series also offers readers the comfort of detailed maps, internet information for each listing, author favorites, suggested itineraries, and walking and driving tours.

Spectacular guide - won't leave town without it!.......2006-07-09
We have used the guide on every Florida trip we take. Living in Orlando, we pretty much know the ropes here in town. We, as a couple, visit other Florida towns (areas) at least twice per month searching for the perfect beach, event, restaurant or attraction. It is great to use the book to find quirkly places to eat and visit. It's been 100% accurate in it's estimations of quality and pricing. We make notes in ours if we find new spots. One day we'll send our comments to the authors!
When traveling to Savannah recently, we bought the Hidden Savannah book and were just as satified!
I cannot recommend a book any higher! No Chamber or tour guide has been able to top the info in this wonderful guide.
Everglades, Miami, Key Largo Trip.......2005-08-11
I used this book for planning a quick trip to Everglades, Miami and Key Largo. I found it to have a good mix of history, attactions and restaurant reviews. We ate at several places recommended by the book.
One thing that would make it much more useful would be to include a fold out map so that you can see more detail of a larger area. I found I had to keep flipping back and forth between maps in the book.

A Good thing in a small package.......2006-06-05
It is interesting to me that a short book such as this illuminates as much about the Kennedy administration than many thicker books for popular reading. A main difference is that the more popular readings focus on sensational stories and some try to make unsupported connections between some aspect of the political figure's personal development and that person's decisions while in office.
This short political biography ignores the bed sheet and fashion stories that dominate so many other Kennedy books. This is a book for a person with a serious interest in the Kennedy presidency. Despite its brevity, the author gives a strong presentation on the president's political style and his influence on domestic and foreign affairs. His discussion on Kennedy's significant domestic policies is of particular importance since, except for civil rights, JFK is better remembered for his foreign policies.
The writer without engaging in Peggy Noonan-like glorification of his subject (Noonan writes on Reagan) portrays JFK as a highly intelligent and astute figure developing more into a statesman than a politician.
Unfortunately, Kennedy's legacy was long ago hijacked by those who want to minimize his influence by remembering him as a youthful charmer with little substance. This is done by both conservatives (who are angered both by his civil rights efforts and his growing independence of military), and by liberals (who too are angered by his civil rights positions that moved too slowly for their taste and his general refusal to put the cart of the liberal agenda ahead of the national horse). As a result, most discussions of Kennedy center on matters that had little to do with him as the nation's leader.
Many of us (for me as a child) remember him and know him as a person whose death was very personal and traumatic. It was the first time many of us saw our parents and teachers cry. This book helps us to better explain to younger generations Kennedy's importance to the nation and to ourselves.
The Journal of a College Freshman.......2000-04-19
Burner wrote this biography upon previous works written about Kennedy. He admires Kennedy a lot because he doesn't really give any shortcomings that came about while Kennedy was President. Burners does give a clear picture about the events taking place in the book.

suprisingly good book.......2005-12-22
Conover Hunt-Jones suprised me with this book, as I wasn't expecting much. Very well written with some good photos, I especially liked the way she tells of the impact of JFK's death on future generations ('70's, 80's, '90's).

Surprisingly thorough coverage for a "coffee table" book........1998-09-30
Although this book is intended for the "next generation", I found it well worth reading, and was impressed with Ms. Hunt's thorough and detailed coverage of the assassination, and its aftermath, including an examination of every possible theory as to "who killed JFK". Being a large-size "coffee table" book, there are, of course, many photographs, which adds immensely to its impact. "JFK for a New Generation" is a great addition to the subject for both newcomers and oldtimers alike.

Standard Annual Reference.......2001-06-07
This book is part of a series of books that has been coming out now for many years. They consist of an article section, a trends in cutlery section (with lots of artfully done photos, and a directory section of the cutlery collectible trade and custom makers, etc. I have the whole run and look at them now and again for reference.
My Husbands Knife Bible!.......2000-12-03
I bought it as a gift for my husband and he loves it. It has every knife imaginable in it. He hasn't put it away yet and he has had it for 6 months! Gives you values of knives. Good for someone who likes to collect knives and maybe just starting out as well.
Knives 2000 does it again!.......1999-12-18
Ken Warner is up to his usual high quality pulling together of fascinating articles and photos of the world of knives. It is a delight to anticipate opening the covers of the book each year.
Of course I'm a little prejudiced as he saw fit to include an article by me, and to my amazement the book is a well done accomplishment in spite of my being included. Seriously, if you do not have this book and have an interest in handmade knives it is a must-read. You will not be disappointed.
Knives 2000...An Improvement Over Last Years Issue!.......1999-11-28
Knives 2000 is definitely better than last years issue. The first improvement is a cross reference index so you can find out what page the picture is on for the maker you are looking up. For example, I was looking up Canadian knife maker Matt Harildstad since I really like his work. The index showed a reference to page 86 of his drop point hunter. I am glad Ken did this for this years issue.
Other improvements is a section on sheaths, engraving and scrimshaw. Therer are some excellent articles this year by some very well known members of the knife community to include: *Bernard Levine *Bruce Voyles *Ken Warner (the author) *Butch Winter (excellent article about owning a counterfeit knife that may not be counterfeit) Also included is a section on knife trends, state of the art knives, factory trends and of course my favorite part; The Directory of literally hundreds of makers. The directory alone complete with addresses, phone numbers and price ranges is well worth the cost of the book.
I'm glad to see the new issue out. This is a must for any knife collector/user's library.

Directory of knifemakers and examples of current trends........2000-05-06
These books are a compilation of the year's current trends in the custom knifemaking industry. They include a few articles (some of more interest to knife collectors, some to knifemakers), a huge directory of custom knifemakers, and page after page of the most beautiful knives you will see anywhere (regretably, all b&w photos). As a bladesmith, I love these annuals an inspiration for design, as well as for embelishment.

Book Description
The moon has long been a symbol of fertility. Farmers know that plants are keenly attuned to the basic cycles of the heavens, and, just like the tides and rainfall, respond to changes in the rhythms of the moon. Farmers have practiced the technique of planting and working the soil according to the lunar cycles for centuries. Today, scientific experiments and the new bio-dynamic farmers have verified the ancient theory that plants respond to changes in the moon’s magnetic field and that this has a dynamic effect on their growth.
In this informative primer on the art of gardening by the moon, easy-to-follow directions include simple charts, a three-year planting table, and a list of commonly grown plants and how they are affected by lunar cycles. Also included are four seed packets containing Nasturtium, Radish, Spinach, and Squash, representing the four essential elements – Air, Earth, Water, and Fire. Each plant is discussed with advice on sowing and growing and simple recipes for each. Complete with fascinating history and tips to ensure success, The Lunar Garden is a common-sense guide to implementing these ancient horticultural traditions in your own garden—whatever the size.

Buyer Beware! Expired Calendar: only covers '01-'03.......2007-01-25
I was extremely disappointed in this book...the calendar (the majority of the book) covers '01-'03....so, I returned it.
the rest of the very basic info can be found online: [...]
I am upset by the fact that the expired calendar is not mentioned, making the description misleading...
I guess I have to make sure to check publishing dates in the future.
Not what I expected.......2006-07-14
This book was just "alright"
I love the idea of the book. It did have some interesting facts, but being a short book to begin with I was disappointed to find that more than half of the book was a lunar planting calender that goes from 2000-2003. Hello, it's 2006. Being that the calender was more than half of the book I think that some sort of perpetual calender would have been more appropriate.
I think that you might find more of what you are looking for in another book.
When I get a new book, it is like Christmas morning. I cannot wait for the kids to go to bed to dive into the book. I was disappointed that I read the entire book in about 1/2 hour.
It is more like a magazine article.
Lovely Book! (And you get free seeds!).......2002-05-10
This small book is a lovely guide for people who want to start their own garden that grows by the light of the moon. You even get a free package of seeds with the book!
I highly recommend this book to all gardeners and flower lovers who want to be unique and try something different!

Customer Reviews:
Wonderful book.......2005-10-10
This book was highly recommended by my daughter's dance teacher (whose own daughter is a professional ballet dancer). There are numerous photos and drawings which teach not only what is correct, but also shows what not to do. It only shows things that are appropriate for young dancers with growing bones and ligaments. "Steps in Ballet" is great for those of us with no ballet training, so that we know if our daughters are being taught properly and what is age appropriate. I would recommend it for anyone whose child is interested in dancing.
