Book Description
Though it is no longer a secret that the Danish capital, Copenhagen, is the perfect destination, with its beguiling blend of super-cool shops, fabulous restaurants, and world-class museums all conveniently compressed within a pretty, pedestrian-friendly heart, this fourth edition of the Time Out guide illuminates the corners of the city that other guides rarely reach. In recent years, visitors have begun to discover an alternative Copenhagen — away from the royal and historic riches of its 1,000-year-old center. Newly revitalized parts of the city like Vesterbro and Norrebro have emerged as groovy hot spots where cutting edge fashion, food, and design flourish. So, while many are lured to Copenhagen by its rich 20th-century design legacy, they are as likely to leave having sampled the best that modern Scandinavia has to offer. This comprehensive guide to Copenhagen, with color photos and maps throughout, covers every attraction, museum, and source of amusement, including new hot spots and up-and-coming neighborhoods.

Customer Reviews:
Highly recommended: cover it all in a honest way.......2006-08-03
Time Out Copenhagen covers it all, and more. Having read this book before actually going to Copenhagen is the best one can do. You will know exactly what to visit, where to eat and stay, where kids can play, and more. It is refreshingly honest and contains lots of information such as fees, schedules, addresses, maps, pictures. You will read if the place is popular and if the authors think it is worth it, if you get what you paid for, etc. Best book I bought on the matter. The book is organized in a way that makes it is hard to put down too. Highly recommended.
Good travel guide laid out by topic.......2006-02-27
I really appreciated the layout of this book by topic (i.e. Where to Stay, Sightseeing, Eat-Drink-Shop, Arts & Entertainment, etc.). Although this may make it a better bet for those planning ahead well in advance instead of dropping into Denmark, it is a perfect companion to Denmark (DK Eyewitness Travel Guides), which is laid out mainly by region.
Great Guide Book.......2004-07-19
I recently went to Copenhagen in mid-July 2004, and this was my first time there. I didn't know anything about the place and I needed to find good information about accommodation, restaurants, and transportation. This Time Out Copenhagen Guide book was truly informative and accurate. I stayed in a hotel mentioned in the book and it was great (lovely romantic rooms). I tried one of the restaurants recommended and that was wonderful too (great food, lovely atmosphere). Other witty and funny information about the history, famous/not-so famous Danish people, etc., in the Guide helps me to understand the city and locals more. I am really pleased with this guide book. I have ordered many guide book in the past (e.g. EyeWitness Guides) and I find Time Out Guides to be better in comparison. The information about the hotel accommodations, restaurants, etc., are spot-on, uptodate, and very useful. I will definitely buy more Time Out Guides for other cities in the future. I really recommend Time Out Guide book to anyone who are deciding on which Guides to buy.
The Right One.......2001-06-26
An excellent guide. I was familiar with Copenhagen as a student 10 years ago and this book helped me right back into step. The general feel is spot-on and it's written for a more adventurous traveler than one just off the cruise ship. The book is irrepressibly positive, and perhaps overstates the charm and style of some sites - just like a guide book usually does. I thought the maps to be good, and they thoroughly cross-reference the entries. The addresses and hours seem to be correct. Copenhagen is an underrated European city; virtually untouched by the past ravages of war and living very much in the present day. If you're destination shopping, the city rates an 8+, and so does the guide. Bring, rent or buy a bicycle if you really want to go local.
The Only Guide You'll Need in Copenhagen.......2001-06-03
Before going to Copenhagen, I purchased several guides...this is the one I used. Covers the usual castle, museum stuff but excels in the less usual stuff like club-life, small restaurants (try Ban-Gaw for Thai food and watch the human traffic on in the tacky old sex district of Istedgade),....prices are up-to-date, good info on train travel, good section on nearby Malmo.Lots of opinions...mostly right on. Could use a better map.

Customer Reviews:
Very good, but outdated........2006-08-05
Much of this book is outdated for 2006! ALOT has changed, mainly with seahorses being mostly captive bred and already eating frozen foods. Filtration equippment has gotten more sophisticated, live food become more available, culturing live food more do-able... and the internet is in full bloom since this book was written!
I am intrested in keeping seahorses.......2003-01-16
My daughter wants some seahorses for a science projet. That she will be doing this spring.
It was a really good book but some things didn't make sence........1999-02-10
I think that if some one is interested in sea horses alot, they should read this book. Really, if you like something like sea-horses, read it! I think it was a good book. The only problem is: I think people about 7 and under should read it. I think that someone my age, 11, would read through it real fast. But it's still a good book!
If you want to keep or raise Seahorses, read this book!.......1998-06-14
This is an exellent book, and if you have any intrest in keeping or raising seahorses, then you NEED to read this book FIRST!
Lee Gentry.......1998-01-04
This is a great book, and I reccomend it for anyone who wants to raise seahorses. It contains lots of useful information and beautiful pictures!

Customer Reviews:
Must have for dancers who also want to perform.......2001-02-16
I found this book very helpful! This book has photos of stage dos & don'ts, and covers everything from movement exploration, to how lighting and costumes effect the dance. Everything from coming up with the dance, to auditioning other dancers to stage set up, to performance is covered. This is a "hands-on" book, with lots of exercises for the dancer to play with. In the rear of the book is forms and checklists that will help make choreography and booking a lot easier. Well written out, and lots of photos to illistrate the writer's meaning. Since in dance, a picture IS worth a 1,000 words.

Book Description
When the Tiger Weeps is a far-ranging journeywith autobiographical rootsthrough disparate cultures; a history beginning in the West with the American Civil War and culminating in the wisdom-sage tradition of the Far East. Along the wayin poetry, prose, and translationsthe work dramatizes individual and collective responses to oppressionwar, tyranny and social injusticeand the triumphs and tragedies of those responses. Looking from a distance at the world of humankind, even the tiger grows compassionate; even the tiger weeps. The book includes sections on Tienanmen Square, on General Grant in the Civil War, on Ishi (the last wild American Indian), on a logging truck driver who catapults down a mountain with no brakes, and on a young boy from Taiwan who sees a ghost.
Customer Reviews:
A poetic sweep through history. .......2005-01-05
Works are so numerous in this excellent volume that it is almost too imposing to write something specific enough to be helpful in a brief review. There are long poems, very short poems--translations and original work, and then prose pieces too. The artistry is of the highest order. Very helpful, is that if all these works were not organized well, "When the Tiger Weeps" would have a problem, but the book is not only of high quality, production wise, but organized in such a way that it "works" fine. It is organized in Books One and Two, the former hallmarked by "Orion's Sword", a long poem of the American Civil war. Long poems are the most difficult and challenging for a poet to manage, and O'Conner establishes himself as a literary artist in his highest, most mature form. "Orion's Sword" captures the cadence of military tragedy like few others I've read. Yet there are numerous shorter poems in both parts, and a list of standouts would be long. My favorite short poem in part one is "When the Blue Jay Goes to Bed", from the section on Ishi, the tragic native American, "the last of his kind". In part two it is "Words for XN". This poem is included in Mr. O'Connor's translations of diverse street poetry written anonymously during the Tienanmen Square protests. The epigram which opens this book--a quote from Bullfinch's Mythology-- seizes perfectly my feelings for this book and its poet: "Orpheus sang his complaints/to the rocks and the mountains/melting the hearts of tigers and/moving the oaks from their station.
A life enriching work of stunning beauty........2004-12-03
This was the first time I have ever read a book of poetry cover to cover in one sitting. The books gripping opening poem on the Civil War caught hold of me and I could not stop reading until I had travelled in the book several thousand miles and a few centuries later to Kyoto where a small gesture from a stranger brings this magical work to a stunning close. Relax, make yourself a cup of tea or coffee, and read this book. In a short while you will feel wonderfully enriched by the great spirits who inhabit these poems, the historical events that swirl through the pages, and the deep and elusive insights that suddenly snap into focus in odd places. Its one of those books that makes you want to buy all the other books an author has written. If his other works are half as good as this one I'll happily read them all.
