Book Description
This educational picture book for children depicts the daily life and habits of the bushbaby—a nocturnal primate whose habitat is rapidly disappearing. Emerging at dusk, the little bushbaby explores the bush, feeds and grooms himself, and listens for his father's call, which protects him from the hunting owls and genets. As dawn approaches, he retreats back to the hidden nest that he shares with his family.

EXCELLENT.......2006-11-07
I reccommend all tourist to NY have this book so not to miss all the great historical sites clearly provided in the book!
mob trip.......2004-09-10
I didn't read this book until i was in new york, and i spend the whole morning druising around manhattan with it in hand.
it's funnier than other stuff henry has done- much lighter, but a great read nonetheless.
Funny, cool and nicely done!.......2004-08-04
I loved this book.
It's really easy to read, nicely researched and great fun.

Pathetic.......2004-06-22
As the other reviewers point out, this is another shameless attempt by Henry Hill to profit from the hard work of others, namely Martin Scorsese, Ray Liotta, Robert DeNiro, and Joe Pesci. Any one with a minimal knowledge of organized crime could have written this book. Henry Hill makes the following insightful comments, "New York has four seasons and five crime families." "The worst trip to NYC is if you don't come back (alive)." "If you mispronounce Houston Street, you'll get whacked." Oh yes, Mr. Hill, the SoHo and Village residents will definitely kill when a tourist thrusts such a heinous indignity upon them. Complementing stories that aren't even up to New York Post standards are quite possibly the worst photographs I have ever seen. Photographs include the following: nightclubs at 10am with the shutters closed, an abandoned factor that could be anywhere in the US, a chain link fence at the end of a road, and surveillance shots of fatuously inflated lowlifes hanging around a junkyard. The unfortunate thing about this book is that it could be good. A serious book about the mob by one of its members could very possibly give insight to the rest of us. This is not that book. In Hill speak, other mobsters should have him `whacked' for embarrassing them since readers may assume the average mob mind is as weak as his.
HENRY HILL LIKES TO TELL STORIES.......2004-06-20
This book contains some interesting stuff but most of it is recycled from wiseguy and the wiseguy cookbook. In addition to being extremely fluffy some of the stuff he says is flat out wrong. He says that Vito Genovese somehow posthumously blew the door off of Frank Costellos crypt. Genovese died in 1969 and Costello died in 1973. Most crackheads can see the problem with this little tidbit. Save your money and read it at the store, it should only take about 15 minutes. By the way, I made the oven penitentiary sauce from his cookbook and it sucked.

Book Description
Demanifest, a loose collective of international designers, Michael Spoljaric (Attik) and Stephen Johnston employ the widest variety of stylistic aids. Be it 3-D exercises, works on canvas hiding tiny graffiti within coarse brushstrokes, their designs are always remarkable in sharing experience with a coherent and likeable human touch. This skillfully structured volume includes two-tone posters, record sleeves, silkscreen prints and surreal outings into preposterously fake photography.

Deconstructive art with a touch of design.......2006-06-28
A great gather of experimental art. Many explorations with paper, photos, collage, drawings, and digital work. A great example of the thin border between art & computers.
Very well designed book too. Minimal and concise.
I do not regret a penny spent on this and I love the smell of it, truly. Does anyone knows which paper it is printed?
Very Bad Book!!!!!.......2005-02-28
This book is a pice of crap. Is a construction paper catalog with a few words!!!!
Visual Motivation.......2004-01-04
This book makes me want to turn off the tv and create art. If you want a beautiful book (by beautiful, I mean interesting and thought provoking, not a Monet print to put above your ikea sofa) you should buy this. This book left me wanting more, but there is a website: www.phantomresearchfoundation.com.
Elegant & Strange artist's book.......2003-09-23
This book is one my most valued & referenced books of recent years; if only because the odd and beautiful craft & design of it lends it to more of an artist's book than a mass-produced design anthology. The pieces draw on multiple art and design techniques and references, producing illustrations that are at first somewhat flat, simple, or even deadpan, but later revealing an elegance and wistfulness reminiscent of japanese panel paintings, Gustav Klimt, and the oddball collages of contemporaries like Laurent Fetis or MM Paris. Great mix of handdrawn, photographic, and handdrawn elements without a trace of design-techno-vector-porn, very refreshing!
Demanifest Manifests A New Vision.......2003-06-07
Demanifest takes you to higher levels of imagination and creativity that surprise and delight. Michael Spoljaric and Stephen Johnston have created a universe for the eye and heart that welcomes both the unexpected and stunning with stark sensibility and lush exploration. There is so much to see and discover that the content accomodates most viewers quite happily. Be prepared for an expansive, new vision that will leave you inspired and wanting more.

Customer Reviews:
Another great book from Sonya!.......2006-03-07
This is another great book from Sonya! It has helped me understand the animal world much better. Thanks to her book I am now able to better understand my cats and the animals around me. I help my family and friends with their animal problems now. I am very thankful to Sonya for helping me to better understand the world from an animal's point-of-view. I have no doubt that people can communicate with animals telepathically. If you are truly open to the idea, want to communicate with your pets, and have a true love for animals, then you can develop your ability to communicate with animals. Sonya tells in her book about the many animals she has encountered over the years; by telling people of these stories she has opened up the reader to what animals are like and how they perceive us. This book is truly a must for pet owners in order to better understand their animal companions. She tells ways to effectively get through problems that a person might be having with his/her pet and then gives helpful tips to help remedy the situation. The stories she tells apply to every pet owner. In the book, she has covered almost every animal you could possibly have. I recommend this book to anyone who has pets or works with animals. I give it five stars! Sonya truly is a gift from God!
Good Book for all Cats Lover!.......2003-12-29
I really enjoyed this book, it make you understand more how cats think. It a great book for all cats lover.
A good book for cat parents.......2003-10-27
As a cat person who enjoyed Sonja's book "What the Animals Tell Me", I was looking forward to reading this book. I was not disappointed.
In this book, Sonja gives more details about how to communicate with animals and a lot of practical cat care advice. She fills in the gaps left in her life story by the previous book. There are, of course, stories about the cats Sonja has worked with. My favorite is the story of Rosie, a hungry, frightened, pregnant kitty rescued by Sonja's husband, Fitz, who is evidently as much of an animal over as she is. This book would be most appreciated by cat lovers who are open to the possibilities of interspecies communication.
Book Description
Last year we sold more Village Greenbooks than ever before, and the feedback we received on the new design was excellent. To build on that excellence, we have added a couple of items to the 2002 edition.
* We have re-instated the item number index. Many collectors told us that they missed it. We're pleased to say that it's back!
* We have also changed the page numbering system to run consecutively from the first page to the last. This replaces the way we did it in the 2001 edition with each village section numbered individually. This was another request by collectors, and when collectors speak, we listen.
The 2002 editions includes:
* Color photos of every building and accessory
* Color photos of those highly sort after variations
* Data in an easy-to-read bullet style
* Accurate secondary market values
* Page after page page of hisotircal facts, information, trivia, and insight
* Greenbook is the #1 guide to Department 56

Delightful drawings by noted nature artist Paul Mirocha demonstrate proper planting and pruning techniques, suggest complimentary landscape groupings, and illustrate specific low water-use plants. No other single volume provides as much useful advice about selecting, planting, and caring for such a wide variety of plants and gardens as Nelson packs into A Desert Gardener's Companion. Customer Reviews:
Finally, a practical guide for the desert.......2001-06-02
There has been a rush on new books about desert gardening lately, but most of them don't contain the secrets required to be successful. A Desert Gardener's Companion provides practical, only-learned-through-experience knowledge. In the manner of a confidante, it relays the intimate wisdom gained from a close, day-by-day relationship with a garden in the desert climate. With ecological explanations of why things happen, the suggestive advice makes good sense. This book could only have been written by a Master Gardener with a real love for their garden and the earth.

Book Description
Bestselling author Randall Robinson, one of our nation's most distinguished African-American leaders, returns with a book certain to be as important and controversial as his classic book on reparations, The Debt.
The man hailed by Cornel West as "the greatest pro-Africa freedom fighter of his generation in America" makes a striking departure, figuratively and literally: He leaves America for a life in the Caribbean.
Randall Robinson is quitting America, and this book charts his journey from the most powerful nation on earth to the tiny tropical island where his wife was born. His search for a more peaceful and hospitable place grew out of the disappointment and increasing sense of abandonment he felt in the land of his own birth-an America that has sapped the creative energies of his race and "transfigured humanity."
Here, in a culture that is as different from America as black is from white, Robinson shares his feelings about the need to escape the racism he has fought all his life. Yet even while he lives among his wife's people, America is never far from his mind. He discusses the current state of political and socioeconomic affairs in our country, and why the leadership we have put in place will continue to fall short of our expectations.
Another stirring example of the astonishing breadth and scope of Randall Robinson's vision, Quitting America demonstrates once again why he is one of the most profound and provocative thinkers of our time.
Customer Reviews:
Poorly crafted rant..........2007-10-15
...full of non-sequitors, documented errors, reverse racism and precious few references or footnotes. Look, I can't blame the man for wanting to move to the pretty, pleasant little island of St. Kitts, where the money he earned in America allows him to live like a king. If you're ready to enjoy a quiet, pastoral life with nice weather and a low cost of living I'm sure it's a fine place. He gets royalties from his writing and by now is old enough to collect social security as well, I'm sure it's a great life. But a little more intellectual honesty about his sojourn would have been nicer. Fewer outright lies or partial distortions or technical truths presented without any context, please.
Oh well, I'm glad that Mr. Robinson was able to earn the money that allows him such a lavish lifestyle right here in mean ol' Capitalist Pig America. I'm also glad that he was able to write and speak on controversial topics here in America, where such expression is constitutionally protected. Most of all I'm glad I purchased this book used, so I didn't directly support his new lifestyle with any of MY money.
Very intriguing point of view.......2007-01-04
I really enjoyed reading Randall Robinson's book Quitting America. I was intriguied by his comments and his point of view. The book is very eloquently written in that I had to stop reading at times to really contemplate exactly what the author was trying to convey to me as a reader. I would reccommend this book to everyone because it gives you insight into a very educated black man's feelings about living in America.
Don't just rant and quit, be part of the solution! .......2006-09-17
Disclaimer first: I am not American. I have lived in eight countries around the world, including nine years in the US, as well as countries in Asia, Europe, and Africa. I think I have a pretty good idea what elements constitute a functional society. America, by and large, is dysfunctional, given how money-hungry and superficial it is. And I also happen to be an outspoken advocate for minority issues. I work in multicultural education. And I am writing a doctorate on a certain aspect of the Transatlantic slave trade.
That said, I went about reading the book with an open mind. And while I enjoyed the well-crafted, eloquent writing, I became pretty appalled by the need to rant and accuse and point fingers at The Enemy *without offering a solution*. You, Mr. Robinson, are sitting cushily on a cute little island close to Mainland America, driving your Honda CRX and making enough money to actually be able to afford the luxury to write such racist treatises. You are having it pretty darn good, and America is funding your life - you do not have to go about earning a meager living on St. Kitts the hard way, like the locals. And you, the Pan-Africanist, have elected NOT to move to The Motherland... why not? Newsflash: Africa, ruled as it is by African leaders, is corrupt and messed up to the core. They pocket Western aid funds to build lavish palaces while their people are dying of hunger and AIDS. Africans commit genocide against fellow Africans. But from the safety of a pretty little island paradise, one forgets that so easily when one is consumed by hatred for one particular group of people. I take exception to your generalizations and simplifications of The Evil White People In Evil White America. And as I said, I am not even a part of them. So, other than writing hateful tirades with a view of making money off of a predominantly African-American readership, what do YOU do or suggest to fix the problems that America undoubtedly has? Running away to St. Kitts is not the answer, Mr. Robinson. If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. And that is exactly what's wrong with this book.
Right on the money.......2005-12-25
in Quitting America, Randall Robinson, Mr. TransAfrica, finally admits the truth about the U.S.: that every single institution within it is designed to keep blacks either marginalized or just plain out. What is most telling is that Robinson was neither a hot-headed black nationalist radical nor an uber-leftist. He simply got so fed up with America's cultural insipidness and racial and social hypocrisies that he decided life on a small Caribbean island was a lot better for his soul. And I don't blame him one damn bit. It's worth noting that this book was written BEFORE 9-ll, so God knows what Randall Robinson would have said if he had bothered to hang around this country to see the disasters wrought by Hurricane Katrina.
Oh, yeah, and LOL at Seth Frantzman. If Randall Robinson wanted to go to a truly oppressive country, he would have skipped Russia and gone to Israel. Talk about oppressive.
You negative people should try reading the book.......2005-10-05
The book is a rant, and the reader should know this going in. Mr. Robinson is very concise and clear on his reasons for disliking America and its system of government. Any historical or sociological research will confirm the charges that RR has put forth. My only problem with the book is that RR seems to drone on repeating himself. Perhaps the book should have been condensed or made into a pamphlet. Reading it did provide a very cathartic experience, I now don't feel so alone in my everyday struggles. It also gives me hope that there is life outside America, possibly even for myself.
I doubt most of the negative reviewers even read the book. I find the charges of racism funny at best and the work of small uneducated minds at worst. Most could not even define racism if pressed. What Mr. Robinson is displaying is anger. If you get lied to and abuse all your life, and have seen the same occur to your parents and other family members, you have a right to show anger towards your tormentors, it is healthy to do such. What most would ignorantly call black racism is really anger. Racism has no justification other then control of others for exploitation.
Seth J. Frantzman's review may be the most disturbing and hypercritical of all. Think about this, a person living in the Middle East with a German last name criticizing someone else for quitting a country that has a history of oppression.
