An exceptional book.......2007-08-13

Couch potatoes should not write reviews for books intended for those of us who have the ambition to explore a region with our own two feet! This is an excellent book intended for an audience that wants to experience the Grand Canyon, not simply get out of the car and walk to a viewpoint and look at it. You do not need a guide book for that, the Park Service brochure is excellent and will be all that is required. Since the Grand Canyon is such a vast place, this guide book will be invaluable in helping you decide just how much you can experience in the time you have to spend here. And to help you determine just what you should attempt for your own physical condition! I highly recommend it for those interested in seeing and experiencing the Grand Canyon from other perspectives, in addition to the excellent viewpoints provided by the Natrional Park Service.

There really is too much hiking expected at the grand canyon. Are you really expected to hike to the bottom? Can't they built an escalator or some kind of teleportation device? Or at least make those airplane tours available to everyone! I had always heard so many great things about the grand canyon, but I never imagined that if I wanted more than taking pictures at the rim, physical exertion might be involved. Just take some pictures then split to go to Vegas. [and yeah I'm being ironic... if we wanna pan books, maybe we should recommend an alternative, else maybe we got in too deep...]

There must be somthing better........2005-08-02

I bought this book before a family trip to the Grand Canyon. I thought I had looked around enough at different guide books but I was wrong. This book is fine if your Canyon trip is 100% hiking. Otherwise it is a bit thin and very dry. Not too helpful over all.

April showers lead to May flowers.......2000-11-22

April is a graphic design genius, so it's hard to go wrong with the subject matter of this book. Of course THE April Greiman book to own is the out of print "Hybrid Imagery : The Fusion of Technology and Graphic Design" - but if you can't get that classic, then this little gem will have to do. The nice thing about this book is that it covers her work in the 90's, and while the web stuff doesn't shine - her print work and dish sets are damn good. Sadly the book doesn't capture her magic as it's rather on the small side - so you can't see all of that wonderful detail that April has in her work. In the end this book is a good appetizer, but it leaves you wanting a full meal. However it will make a good addition to your personal library, and it would make a nice gift for a creative friend.

As an obedience instructor for 35 years, this book is the most informative book I have ever read.It gives information on a vast range of obedience training from puppy to the adult dog. It is very detailed on how to get your dog moviated. It is very informative on how to handle yourself. how to walk,stand, hold a leash,where to put your feet. I enjoyed this book throughly.

This book is very intelligently organized. Ms. Levine chose to order the identification keys in a manner that would be most helpful, rather than strictly by botanical taxonomy. This makes sense given that the winter remains of plants do not track their taxonomy. The illustrations are also a joy just to look at.

wonderful astrological book for black people.......2007-09-05

i've had this book for many years and finally decided to write a review about it. the book is tailored towards black people so that makes it unique. i really love this book and everytime i encounter a new guy i flip to the book, i almost have it memorized on certain parts. the author is on point. i read what she said about my sign and realized that yes, she knows what she's talking about. there are tons of good examples throughout the book and solid information about each sign. it's not filled with a lot of heavy jargon, it's actually funny without being silly and useless. you can get a quick fix or read more in-depth, it's all there. this is a wonderful book to share with friends that get a kick out of astrology and are dating, engaged or married. i would love to see the author update the book, i'd be among the first to buy the revised edition!

An excellent source of information on zodiac signs.......2007-03-09

From reading my sign and analyzing others from other signs, this books almost hits it on the spot! The author (I don't know how) really did her homework. I recommend this book to people who have a high interest on Zodiac signs in relation to love. Now don't get me wrong, not every characteristic is going to be about you.

excellent book.......2005-01-27

She outdid herself with this one. I'm an astrology buff, so I know that Venus represents your love signs as well. And I not only read the interactions between sun signs, which represents your personalities, but where Venus was too.

My partner at the time had his Venus in Gemini, and mine is in Aries. I would read the book and die laughing, because she describes a Gemini-Aries relationship to a hilt! It was just like our conversations were coming straight from this book. It was too funny.

It is amazing just how accurate this book really is. You even have to admit the faults that are explained about your own self in this book are true. If what you read about yourself is 100% accurate, then you can't help but to believe what is written about the other signs. This book should be used as a guide for any relationship!

This book is dope.

This book is disturbingly on point. Hands down there is no better astrology book related to african americans. Oops... hands down there is no better astrology book.

I get calls from friends Long Distance asking me, what does "the book" says. I get calls from friends on dates, asking me what does "the book" say. Having this book is a statement. It's not saying you are into hocus pocus. It's saying I am as an adult trying to understand other mature adults around me.

I recommend this book and I have bought it several times as a gift for friends and lovers. I can't really stress how dope this book is. I shudder to say, it can even help you in giving you insight to your current or future relationships.

Gloriously beautiful photographs long overdue........1999-04-05

I came across this book strictly by accident while visiting one of my favorite bookstores. I was amazed at its almost hauntingly dignified beauty, not only in capturing the intensity of dance, but also conveying a remarkable grace to the dancers and choreographers it presents. This book affirms the importance and contributions of African-American men in the world of dance. I fear that sometimes we forget and/or minimize those contributions. "Vital Grace" is a long overdue celebration of magnificent artists. Strongly recommended.
