This is a wonderful book about a family living and enjoying the natural world around them. I envy them. For a while, a person can escape their hectic, city living,and enjoy the life the author is sharing with us. I highly recommend it!

The gorgeous imagery of the West is what makes this so incredibly amazing. There are lightning storms, hail, floods, fires, grizzly bears, guns--even murder and intrigue. Who knew there was so much going on in Montana? I highly recommend this beautifully written book.

This is a must book for every reader that loves wildlife and nature. I felt like I was visiting an old friend by the way it is written. The way some of the wildlife are described gives the feeling of a personel relationship with them, such as the grizzly crippled by a gunshot.

The descriptions of what it is like to live in such a place could be right out of our country's past years ago.

The author does an excellent job of expressing her feelings about the natural world that surrounded her in this unusual place...a place so few have visited but so many dream about.

The way she described how the scientist conduct their field research to monitor the grizzly, wolf, mountain lion, and coyote gives us a view into their scientific world, but on a personal point of view with some very humorous stories.

If you've never been to a semi-remote place surrounded by beautiful mountains, variety of wildlife, or interesting people, buy this book and it will take you there.

A beautiful book to read.......2007-01-04

My wife and I retired in Venezuela 2 years ago. The Insight Guide is a very beautiful book, and fun to just read, like a paperback coffee table book. We found the Footprint guide often unorganized. When we really want information, we go to our Bradt Travel Guide.

The book is informative and takes a close look at the culture of the people. The pictures are great. The amount of pictures are well balanced with the reading.

Yes, this book has some great pictures, but is not particularly helpful in terms of practical information. I was also disappointed with the layout of the book. The info regarding hotels, restaurants, etc. was not in the same section as the description of the town.

Very complete and accurate.......2001-10-21

As a stranger who settled in Venezuela some months ago for labour, I chose this book in order to know more about my ¨new home country¨. I must confess it surprised me in how accurate each and every place of the country is described. Even the traditional little bullring four blocks from my flat is depicted with pretty detail and a touch of history. As I'm becoming more familiar with tourist places -particularly beaches and coasts- I found myself as if I were there already.

As an American married to a Venezuelan and living in Venezuela I also whole heartedly recommend this book since it is extremely up to date. I have been using books of this sort to travel the world for some time now and take most of their information with a grain of salt. They may or may not be accurate. That's not the case with this one. You can just about count on things to be as described or very, very close. At this point in time, it's as close to perfect as guidebooks get.

a new horizon for designers!.......2000-04-13

it`s an easy-to-understand book with relevant case studies for readers who are not very familiar with economics (like me!) it explains general life cycle concepts and its place in the construction sector. Apart from the case studies there are many useful tables which you can`t find easily ! For me it was like a college course without attendance(!)and i couldn`t find such a comprehensive book on this topic yet!

This is a great little reference tool for building a pond. It does lack detail in construction or things like filtration and upkeep.

The outdoor plant and fish sections were informitive. It gives a lot more detail there but it's getting there certain chapters were a little vague. It's a good book for basic know-how and we be good to add to a group of books on the topic. However not stand alone one stop resource.

This is a very good book on water gardening and does have some nice pictures. I must disagree with another reviewer; this is NOT the only book you'll ever need on the subject. It is very good and a valuable recourse, but has left me with many questions still unanswered.

OK for general info........2002-06-07

My husband and I found this book helpful as a general reference for building our pond. We were disappointed that there wasn't more detail in certain key areas. For example, when you look up pH in the index and turn to the selected page, they just show you a picture of a pH test kit. It would be nice to know why we need one!
The equipment section would have been enhanced with a greater variety of filtration/pump set-ups and the pros/cons of each configuration.
The section about plants is excellent; it is extensive, with detailed thumbnail descriptions, and helpfully separated into groups.
I would recommend this book, but not as a complete source of water garden info.

We have a giant hole in our backyard and it is a tribute to this excellent book. It describes the process of creating a water feature as well as or better than any other publication on the market. We will have a wildlife and bird resource thanks to the quality of this publication. My sincere thanks to the author/editor/writer.

If you want to build a pond/stream/waterfall, and you want the pleasure of doing it yourself, this is THE book to buy. There are several good ones available, and you should consider some of them to help yourself gain valuable knowledge about the subject.

However, of all the books in this field, this is the most comprehensive, best illistrated, and the most diverse guide of its kind.

The Hard cover edition (if available) will be a book you'll want to keep with your other favorites.

The Y located at 92nd Street and Lexington Avenue in New York City is the largest and oldest continuously operating YM-YWHA in the US. Many of the most important figures in modern dance premiered on its stage, but until now no one has thought to ask why this should have been so. As Naomi Jackson shows in Converging Movements, the Y's particular conception of Jewishness laid the groundwork for the establishment of a center for dance in the 1930s.

William Kolodney, who served as the Y's education director from 1934 until 1969, expanded its educational and arts programming to include a great deal of nonsectarian material, and as Jackson shows, modern dance epitomized Kolodney's humanistic ideals regarding the uplifting role of the arts.
