Simple and easy to follow with great pictures. The kids enjoy it as it offers footprints and basic info on a wide range of animals. Could use more animals, but overall a quick and easy guide to the main animals in AZ (includes birds).

The mark of a good travel book is not just the durability of the cover, although that is important; it is also a function of the quality of the research.

This book has both. Not only is the cover tough yet remarkably pliable, but the contents are well written and well researched. While I was in Languedoc over Christmas, Catlos never left my side - my wife and I ate with him, drove with him. Heck, we even followed his advice on where to spend the night. In fact, we even started calling the book "the Catlos"! We felt that the book was a friend who was guiding us through this mysterious and deeply foreign landscape.

My wife found his tips for female travellers to be especially helpful and considered. To be frank, not many guidebooks consistently point out where one might purchase certain feminine necessities.

I highly recommend this book and suggest that anyone travelling to the region purchase a copy. It'll become like a good pal - albeit one with a flexible laminated cover.

Since 1975, the visionary sets of designer Erich Wonder have had a perennially unique influence on the European theater scene, from Frankfurt to Zurich, Paris to Milan, Berlin to Salzburg. Wonder was inspired to embark on his revolutionary path by the cinema and by such classic painters as Vermeer van Delft and Mark Rothko. At first he created path breaking designs for theater plays--radically experimenting with stage scenery and stage lighting--but has since moved on to work mainly in opera, playing a decisive role in its current renewal. Erich Wonder: Stage Design is being published on the occasion of the 2000 Bayreuth Festival, whose centerpieces is Ring 2000, with scenery by Wonder. Kinetic Fantasies.......2002-02-11

Wonder has been around for quite a while and has developed quite an amazing body of work. His early work with Wilfred Minks and his 80's and 90's work with the late, great Heiner Mueller certainly influenced this visionary artist. That being said, this book showcases Wonder's profound and startling theatrical visions. His work process is showcased in an organic way throughout this book. The rough sketches often surround the photos of the models of his designs. The production photos do great justice to the premise made by the book that his work is cinematic and about light and space.
The photos are lavish and express the time-space continuim of his work within a specific design. The interviews were insightful. I enjoyed his writings about his designs and his images a lot.
It is a must for any designer in the theatre or anyone interested in space or light.

Touches the senses.......2001-06-17

As a lighting director in both theatre and opera I can only say that this book show the beautiful creativity of stage and lighting design. We are given a behind the scenes look into the relationship between the designer and the stage artist. Definitely a must for anyone in the technical design part of theatre.

Local Shaffer Writes the Ultimate Branson Book.......2000-08-21

Now this is a guidebook, written by Branson "local" Carol Shaffer. Branson's Best Day Trips mixes area history (better than any show!) and photographs with a complete guide to Ozark attractions from shows to inexpensive day trips in the area. After all, the Ozarks do not begin and end on the Strip; Shaffer takes you to surrounding communities, and provides 19 maps and detailed directions clear enough for even the most directionally-impaired traveler! To top it off, Shaffer's writing style is delightful. We highly recommend this book.

We used this book throughout our vacation. The maps were great. Our favorite chapter was the one to Branson's free attractions. We would have missed a lot had it not been for this book and would recommend it to anyone.

Wow, what a great book! I can't believe how much information is in here. Carol obviously knows the area and I think she was able to explain a little of the background behind the different places without becoming a history lesson. I also think the maps are very clear and plenty easy to read and I think the text was well written. I especially like the section on how to navigate the various side-roads (if you've been to Branson you know how bad the traffic can be). I went on vacation to Branson before but only got to see a third of what is in this book - now I can't wait to go back again!

A little dated, but was ahead of it's time..........1998-02-14

Very technical, entirely comprehensive, and is still found in the bibliography of just about any serious scientific book on aquaculture. This is an excellent reference on filtration techniques, toxicity of common medications, calculating carrying capacity, and is just full of useful ideas and references. If you approach the hobby with a bit of scientist in you, this is a book you should have. When he wrote the book, no one in the hobby was doing protein skimmers, but he discussed them in detail here. Whatever the next big concept is, I wouldn't be surprised if he discussed it. This is a rare gem of a book.

Indispensible Resource for Christmas Music Buffs!.......2004-01-25

Goldmine's Neely has once again produced a gem of a book, this time focusing on the oft-neglected niche of Christmas music. Well documented, with lots of color glossy pages of rare album covers, this is a must-have for those of you addicted to holiday vinyl.
The book's only shortcomings: (1) It has now been almost seven years since its publication, it would be nice if Goldmine would issue an updated version of the book every few years to update its content; and (2) the book contains few international titles, of which there are hundreds if not thousands, particularly from the Western European countries (where most of our modern-day Christmas celebration traditions originated!). It would be nice to see more of them incorporated into a future edition.
Well organized and written by someone who obviously is passionate about the genre, I highly recommend this publication.

The Ultimate Bible Of Christmas Music.......2000-08-18

Even during the off season I find myself thumbing through this book, it's a great source of information on collecting rare, hard to find holiday records. Plenty of singles and albums are listed that are worth hundreds of dollars if they're in mint condition and have a picture sleeve cover. It is also fun to look up the names of favorite artists & groups to see what, if any, holiday tunes they may have recorded. So next time you're cleaning out your attic, basement or in back of your closet, if you come across an old box or bin of 45s and/or albums-poke through, you never know if some hidden treasure is in there, and not just Christmas music either! Tim Neely has a few Goldmine Collectors guides out there and all are tops. Very highly recommended.

If you are into collecting Christmas Music of every variety whether traditional,pop,rock,etc.than this is the book for you! It lists every artist who ever recorded Christmas songs and hymns,and it also gives a listing of the worth of the original vinyl record(according to the condition of it,of course). A fun book to browse through even if you just want to see what's out there & perhaps to make some additions to your collection.

A Lonely Grave: The Life And Death Of William Redmond is the fascinating biography of a hitherto forgotten man who in his time came to represent the ambition, frustration, and self-sacrifice of a generation of Irish patriots who sought home rule for their country in the days preceding World War I. William "Willie" Redmond was the brother of John Redmond, leader of the Irish parliamentary party who, despite the general apathy of the Irish towards involving themselves in the British/German conflict on the continent, enlisted in the 16th (Irish) Division as an officer and received a fatal wound on the battlefield of Messines Ridge, south of Ypres, France. Dying in a field hospital of the Ulster Division later that same day, Redmond was the only officer of his 6th Royal Irish Regiment to be buried at Locre (the 16th Division's headquarters), and not with his fallen comrades into one of the official war cemeteries built after the war. His "lonely grave" is unvisited, and symbolizes Ireland's indifference to the fate of its soldiers who died in World War I. Terence Denman's superb biography, covering both Redmond's political and military career, is a fitting testament to a long neglected hero of both the Irish struggle for independence and Irish participation in the Great War.
