This is ok as far as it goes, but I do not equate "best" with glossy or expensive. I should have looked for a book listiing the most rustic or obscure resorts which nevertheless provide good meals and sports opportunities.

Not enough criticism.......2006-10-24

This book offers a lot of information about the accomodations available at the resorts. Hoewever, there are NO pictures and there is virtually no criticism about any aspect of any resort. Also, the resorts are not ranked 1-100 as the title would imply, but instead are categorized by continent. Overall, you should just use a search engine and save yourself the cost of this book.

Book is fair. It is broken down into chapters-North America, Carribean, Africa, Asia, and the Pacific. Introduction explains what an all inclusive resort is and what should be covered. The descriptions of each resort and the contact information is excellent and very detailed. I really wish there were more pictures for you to get a feel forn the resorts.

I met tibor by this book.......2007-04-03

i have been trying to write alot abt this great designer/man, but couldnt write a word because he is so true and real, that you start loosing words for him. He lives with designer who consider their resposibity and moves on. TIBOR tells the story of Tibor's life and his achivement phase to phase. I dont want to complete this book or Close this book, because it is full of Wit, Humor and Lots of Sense. A book that showcases the thumbnails, sketches, art-work, approvals and disapproved work.
You can find lots of lessions, essay and speeches about Tibor and From Tibor that are helpful esp. for Design Students/Teacher and Graphic Designers in the end. It a worth buying book for every student-teacher and designer!

If a man smiles at you..........2004-04-06

I first heard of Tibor Kalman while browsing a copy of "Interview", just to learn that it was a tribute. Sometime later, I found a smiling bookcover looking at me. I bought it. I was waiting for the bus and started to read it... I could not put it down again. I read textes, subtitles, infos, even the small characters of the work reproduced. It was not enough. It made me regain the somehow lost faith in design, showing me how humour, money and a cause could be combined together with surprising results.
Do not be fooled: this book goes beyond the cult of the author's personality; it shows brief, concept and ways of thinking which are useful to everyone, not only designers and students.
Although I knew it from the beginning, in the end I had tears in my eyes, because this man was gone and could no longer make our world a better place.

Kalman was a fascinating artist, but above all, he was down to earth. He told it like it is. That's why people found his work disturbing and cutting edge at the same time. His images and ideas have the power to change how people think. As an artist, he was vastly underrated, but his art made important comments about popular culture. He fits right in with Warhol, Rauschenberg, et. al. This is a book worth many times its price.

I left a review of the hardcover a long time ago. I'm reviewing the paperback because I actually bought a 2nd copy of the book (one to keep untouched and the other to read several times). And now that I've gone through the book for the umpteenth time, I want to add more thoughts to my last review...

I'm begining to realize that the true magic behind the work of Tibor is that it's very personal. Tibor's work searches for some human quality inside us that it can appeal to. It relates to us as imperfect, informal human beings. Unlike most design today that is either self-indulgent or polished off and buttoned up, the work in this book seems to have a "come as you are" invitation to it. This was Tibor's gift. This was his major contribution to the work done in this book. As you surf through all 400+ pages you'll see that in the beginning his work was design "having something to sell". But suddenly his work detours and becomes design "having something to say."

The best part about this book is that it brings us inside the minds of all the people Tibor worked with, worked for (clients) and worked against. The eye opener is that their was a lot of pain that went into the production of this work. You learn that Tibor's passion became a blessing and curse for those he colloborated with. But you begin to learn that these "mistakes, misunderstandings and mis-comprehensions" are often an unexpected ingredient in producing fresh and interesting work.

I encourage this book to anyone who wants to see a new perspective on graphic design and the industry. But more importantly, it's a motivation for us to re-evaluate our own perspective on the industry.

Design from your soul.......2000-09-30

This is the truth. It seems so many designers are looking for the "rock star" status that design seems to bring today that they forget the things Tibor brought (and are important) to the world of design. There are great things to be seen in this book. We are communicating for the people. Not the green pieces of paper. No one says this better with more humor and sensitivy than Tibor Kalman. I wish I could sit with him and talk.

This was one of the best SVT books I've read! A great Thanksgiving story with a lot of bittersweet memories & a good deal of family stress that marks this time of the year. The book rivals a Baby-Sitters' Club book with its deep probe into the psychology & family dynamics & poignant parts. Interesting how Alice insisted that she & her sister NEVER fought, but when her sisters Nancy & Laura show up, they fight more than Elizabeth & Jessica & their cousins! All in all, it was a lot like a BSC book...a warm, touching family gathering, but imperfect with a poignant, bittersweet ending. The families of the BSC members end up with family gatherings like that. A great Thanksgiving read!

Good book. Could do a little bit more better. Jessica and Elizabeth are always fighting, that's true. Their mother admit that she and her sisters never fight, even once ! But on Thanksgiving Day, everything changes. Jessica and Elizabeth's aunts and cousins come to Sweet Valley to celebrate the big day. Somebody wake up early in the morning to do the stuffing. Some changes in the family history. It also changes the 'harmony' family who never quarrels. They conduct a war on a day which suppose to be happy and loving. Who stop it ? Jessica ? Elizabeth ? One of their cousins ? You'll just have to read it.

The book is short and "sweet" but definitely a fun read. While "Maggie Sweet" will never be confused with Southern literature such as Faulkner, or even Lee Smith, Stacy does an excellent job with making us laugh and earning our sympathy by the third chapter. Fans of Fannie Flagg and Adriana Trigiani will love this book. Maggie is a "desperate housewife" of a sort, and her struggle to have her childhood dreams is what propels this story along. With the obvious cliches scattered through the whole book,this is forgivable and you won't be disappointed. The characters are like those in your own community. If this book is intended to be the first of a series, it is a striking and stirring beginning. Funny, memorable, and unpretentious.

I couldn't put this book down once I began reading it. It was such a fun read! Maggie Sweet is a great wife, mother, daughter, etc. and had thought that she was happy doing all of the things that "good 'ole Maggie Sweet" should do. (A description she overhears her husband tell one of his historian society friends.) Her 20th high school reunion is coming up and she begins to question her life as she is living it. Will she ever get to realize her life long dream of becoming a hair stylist? Or, will she continue to live the life her husband expects her to live? The characters that Ms. Stacy has created in this book are delightful! I can't wait to read her next book!

Way To Go Maggie Sweet!!!!.......2005-11-02

I absolutely loved this book! Maggie Sweet sure stood up for herself and took charge in the end! I just can't believe that she stayed with that awful husband of hers as long as she did.

This is the story of Maggie Sweet...a woman in a crappy marriage to a man years older than her (he was one of her teachers in high school), who finally gets to the point that she's had enough. Especially when the high school love of her life, Jerry, returns home after his divorce with his wife.

Will Jerry and Maggie live happily ever after? Will the kids ever forgive her for her final decision? And will Maggie finally get to have a successful career doing hair?...I'm not sure, but I'm really hoping the next book gives us a look into the new life Maggie has planned for herself.

I definitely recommend this as a great southern read. There's tons of gossip, drama, and sweet tea! I'm gonna read the next installment the second I get my hands on a copy!

I loved this book from cover to cover. I love our main character Maggie Sweet. I identified with her very well. Although, I was hoping that things would have turned out better for her and her husband, I hope that she finds true love wherever she may end up. I can't wait to read the next installment! I would have loved the other characters to have more of a female closeness but this book still delighted me!

Any bored houswife or middle-aged-crazy dame will identify with Maggie, the dedicated wife and mother who spends all her time meeting everyone's needs but her own, until at last given the chance to break free and do something for herself. An excellent addition to women's fiction.

A wonderful experience! Immediately after finishing the book I got five more copies to send to my dearest friends and family. In this slim volume the author begins with a discussion of the impact that losing a pet can have on its devoted owner; she illustrates this with annecdotes to which I felt an immediate connection. She goes on to provide an historical perspective on the development of the human/animal relationshop, and follows that with a facinating examination of the evolution of several major world religions and schools of thought. She finishes with practical and comforting suggestions to help the reader both work through the grief that losing an "animal companion" induces, and look forward to a hopeful future where in the next life we are reunited with our precious pets. The section entitled "Hope" beginning on page 50 was so joyfully vivid - read this first and you'll be instantly hooked! Her gentle pace and comforting, practical, thought-provoking delivery makes this an easy read. I'd love to see a follow-up book with a more in-depth discussion on the development of different religions tenets with respect to animals.

An Excellent Book for Anyone Grieving the Loss of a Pet!.......2005-03-17

In this wonderful book, the author offers comfort and reassurance that painful feelings of grief are normal and natural, and that the close relationship we share with our beloved pets can be as important as those we have with humans. The possibility of an afterlife for animals is considered, with many examples from historical and spiritual literature. And, although the author encourages readers to decide for themselves what to believe, one can truly imagine that we may indeed one day enjoy a "Sweet Reunion" with our beloved pets. Also, her suggestion that perhaps both animals and humans may each be intended to support the growth and progress of the other in this life presents an expanded view of hope and greater purpose in the relationship we share with our pets (and animals in general). Finally, this book is very enjoyable to read, comforting and inspiring, and would be a thoughtful and caring gift for anyone grieving the loss of a pet.

...This book states very clearly that it is written about PLANT LORE, and that is just what it is about. Persons not interested in this subject will not like this book, plain and simple. Those who are enlightened, and collect books on harmless myths and superstitions will enjoy it. Those who yearn for the magickal associations of flora, fauna and fae will also love it, of course!

Even though the illustrations are lovely and interesting, parents should consider the contents of this book. If you wish to teach your children that spells and witchcraft can lead to more than just innocent fun...do NOT buy this book!

i thought this book was really great! me and my friend went through it and saw some really cool spells we wanted to try. like me, i wanted to try the one to remove freckels. or the one to become the same size as a fairy. the only thing i wish it included was if you could accually try the stuff and if anything was poisionsous. over all it was great for kids like me who like magic and stuff like that

I think this is THE book to have if you are opening your own studio. She has lots of insightful ideas and shares a lot of her experiences. It is kind of the Dance Studio Bible. I highly recommend it.
