Libya is a wonderful country yet to be discoveted, which only opened up to foreign tourism in year 2000 amidst a deep economic crisis caused by internal factors as well as a foreign embargo. Finally, Libya is accessible for foreign travelers - and, not less importantly, reasonably safe. Yet, given the relative lack of infrastructure, and as the volume of tourism is still low, travelers are unlikely to really experience Libya unless they are in a group, which may not always be pleasant. In order to truly get to know this wonderful nation, the independent traveler needs some help. And indeed, in this wonderful guidebook is contained plenty of useful, if not invaluable, advice, on what to see in Libya, how to move around, and how to have a great time altogether. The author has clearly put an incredible amount of time and great effort into researching all and any information that can be useful to the traveler, and has done a great job overall. To my knowledge, this is the best travel guide to Libya, and I would strongly recommend to pack it in your luggage before setting off. Yet, one aspect on which this guidebook is rather weak (compared for example to Lonely Planet guides), is on Libyan people and society. This means that the guidebook is a little better suited for those wishing to visit historical sites etc, rather than those wishing to get into Lybian politics, society, culture, and Lybian life in general. Yet, it is still a useful tool in that respect too.

You can't imagine how much detail and information there is in this book. It must have taken this gentleman several lifetimes to actually visit all of the places about which he so accurately describes. This is far better than the Lonely Planet book on Tunisia in my opinion, especially for people who hope to travel to this progressive nation that is very "American friendly" and quite a bargain in most ways.

Footprint Tunisia is without question the best travel book I've ever used. It's information was accurate to the letter in every case. Background history of the country and it's ancient colonizers was exhaustive compared to the standards of most guide books. Perhaps most impressive is the pertinence of the information to every type of traveller, budget to luxe. The clever and pointed opinions were always on target. The writer did not hesitate to give sly negative reviews where applicable. "Lonely Planet" and "Let's Go" both offer good information but have target readers and leave out the needs of many of us as well as frequently providing only rudimentary information. With Footprint you can throw out all the other guidebooks or just avoid buying them entirely, that's how exhaustive I found the Tunisia entries to be. I've used many guide books, Eyewitness, Access (awesome in the original versions, especially for walking tours and architectural sites,food and shops)and Fodor's but these all pale in comparison to Footprint. Where have they been hiding? I've yet to see them on the shelves of those big bookstores in my neighborhood. Bravo to Amazon for carrying them all.

I returned it........2005-09-23

I was specifically looking for updated prices on antique and collectable golf clubs, and this new edition didn't have any information on them at all. The previous edition did; however, I felt the items were now worth more and was hoping to find that in his new book.

Please be advised, this book is the new 2005 edition. Many of the reviews written in 2004 or earlier are referring to an out-of-print edition.

This new guide does not contain any information about putters, clubs, or balls.

It *does* contains lots of information about autographs, limited edition prints, programs, tickets, flags, books, and a whole host of tournament-related memorabilia.

Mostly good information for the collector.......2000-04-11

I thought it was mostly very useful information for the collector, however one piece seemed to be missing, "golf balls" I would think that this particular piece would be important since that is what golfers hit around the links.

If purchasing for irons or putters, look elsewhere.......2000-01-12

Book is more focused on tickets, programs and autographs. It is absolutely worthless for identifying and finding values for irons and putters. It lumps generations of irons into a single category, even if the iron was completely redone and just kept the same name.

Authoritative & Complete Golf Ephemera Source.......1999-12-31

After years of collecting and researching golf clubs, balls, equipment and literature, I was very pleased to find Gilchrist's Guide to Golf Collectibles. With the explosion in interest in vintage links-related materials, I found this guide to be the most up-to-date and complete resource yet. The portion devoted to golf publications is especially impressive, and essential to anyone even the least bit interested in collecting or selling literature related to golf. Why not five stars? I'm waiting for the next edition.

Good.......2002-08-29

Robert Menzies was a conservative Australian politician who served as Prime Minister from 1939 to 1941 when he surpringly resigned. At this time the Australian Labour party won office and dominated politics for the next eight years. Menzies built up a new party to regain power which he called the Liberal Party. He also developed an ideology to appeal to the forgoten people. That is he positioned his conservative party to appeal to the middle class rather than having it to closely aligned with big business.

Volume one of this biography concerns his early years and his career up to 1941. He was born in a country town and came from a poor family. He was able to get a university eduction and became a succesful lawyer and state politician before moving to the federal sphere. He did not serve in the first world war although his brothers did.

The book is actually by an author who has more sympathy with the labour side of politics rather than the conservative. Never the less it is a reasonable portrait of the man and also the period. One of the better Australian political biographies.

If you really enjoy dolphins, you should check this book out. One thing is I like to put my name in the book. It does not give information about the dolphins names though. Read this book and go to the lake.

This is a comprehensive book on house plant care. This answers almost every question you may have on how to care for your plant. There is a great section on pests and diseases and the photos are helpful in letting you spot what the problem is with your plant. The gallery of houseplants also tells you how much light, water, humidity and temperature each plant needs as well as grooming, fertilization, propagation info and problems you may encounter with each plant. There's a table listing the lighting requirement for various houseplants so you can plan where to put your next purchase and there is also a small section on decorating with your plants. This guide is very easy to use and I highly recommend it as a great resource for anyone interested in having beautiful houseplants.

Bright and inspiring!.......2001-07-05

I am enjoying the huge bright photos! All of the photos are sharp and show details amazingly well. Many are larger-than-life and remind me of the wonderful photography in the Singer (c) books. This is just the kind of traditional look I like, but with a few fresh twists, like color surprises. There is a darling quilt titled 'Squirrel Quilt' that is offered as for a boy's room and I'm imagining it as a wall hanging in my living room. I hadn't seen the pattern for the 'The Cat's Basket' before I bought the book, it immediately looked like something perfect for my tiny dog!

I very much appreciate the full-size patterns in the back, I don't have time for graph paper!

This book was very nicely illustrated and the directions were well written. Unfortunately, I probably won't make a single project from this book. It was not what I expected. In my opinion, the projects in this book seem very out-dated and very out of style.
