Great reference, but not a book.......2007-07-21
This laminated brochure shows pictures and gives descriptions of the most common edible and poisonous plants and fruits in North America. I'll put it in with our camping supplies, as a handy reference.
I didn't realize it was just an accordian-fold brochure when I ordered it, but looking again at the description, it does mention the size. Just not enough detail to tell me it wasn't a book. It actually says "paperback" and "on the back cover" in the description.
Everyone who likes to eat greens and fruit from the outdoors should find this reference very useful and reassuring.
Book Description
This pocket guide to the Costa del Sol features highlights of the city, places of interest, activities, accommodation, where to eat out, entertainment and excursions. Each entry cross-references with the fold-out maps. The highlights section gives information on location and how to get there, contact details, opening hours, entry fees and tour details. Sightseeing chapters cover places such as beaches, nature reserves, historic buildings, galleries and museums, parks and gardens, arranged in dictionary form with contact details, nearest metro stops, opening hours and entry fees for each site. Activities chapters feature sports, activities for children, unusual activities unique to the city, suggested routes for walking tours (including map grid references, distance and duration, and where to eat and drink) and organized tours, while the shopping chapters cover shops and markets. Accommodation includes listings by area and price category and the eating out section covers the food of the region, as well as listings of suggested venues by area and price. The entertainment section includes nightlife, music, theatre, festivals, casinos, pubs and clubs, and spectator sports. Excursions cross-reference with the excursions map and include transport options, distance, contact details, highlights and where to eat and drink. Finally, a travel tips section handles everything from transport and money to personal safety and etiquette.

The best!.......2001-12-13
I'm an artist and into designs, and this book is the best! Lots of great close-up color pictures! It also has lots of wonderful old photos of natives of different islands wearing the tapa cloth, and a lot of interesting text (which I haven't read all of because I bought the book mostly for the pictures.) But I really recommend this book for anyone interested in great native designs.

In my researcch of the Great Dane as a breed, I found this to be one of the most informative, helpful books I have encountered. It is a must have for anyone who is considering sharing their life with this wondreful breed.

Very thorough and interesting. It has photos and good text explaining things other books fail to cover. This includes health and training issues.

One of the classics in the History of Art........1999-04-12
There is really no way to rate this book. It would be like rating Freud or Marx. Wolfflin is one of the cornerstones of art history. This is essential reading for any student of the subject. Although one might see limitations in his theory today, his ideas were revolutionary when first proposed. His theory goes beyond the famous 5 categories to include views on cycles in history and insights on the artist's control of his practice. Related readings are Reigl and Panofsky.
An important book in art history........1999-03-08
Wolfflin contrasts the styles of the High Renaissance and the Baroque by setting up them up as a system of oppositions. He compares the two time periods according to five sets of categories. He claims that this is what art history should do. In other words, style and not meaning is the criteria according to which art history should be written. A lot is to be learned from this book. However, there are a lot of limitations to Wolfflin's approach. Consequently, it should be read critically or "against the grain" in order to expose some of Wolfflin's biases. Its also a very difficult read. But, its worth it if you get through it.
