In the last decade, the system of classifying plants has been thoroughly revised. Instead of describing every individual family, Takhtajan includes descriptions in keys to families, which he calls "descriptive keys." The advantage of descriptive keys is that they give both the characteristic features of the families and their differences. The delimitation of families and orders drastically differs from the one accepted by the Englerian school and from the one accepted in Arthur Cronquist's system. Takhtajan favors the smaller, more natural families and orders, which are more coherent and better-defined, where characters are easily grasped, and which are more suitable for information retrieval and phylogenetic studies, including cladistic analysis (because it reduces polymorphic codings).

Solid Guidebook to make the most of your trip.......2005-02-16

The 2005 edition adds another 50 pages of info over the previous edition. Hotels, restaurants and admission prices can change rapidly in the area, so it's worthwhile to have the most recent guidebook.
I live in the area and count on the Fodor's to give the detail essential to a successful excursion with our visitors. There is soooo much to see at Disney and around the area that you will miss a lot if you don't have a good guidebook like this. I like the "Strategies" highlights that give the best times to visit certain attractions and the "Need a Break" inserts that clue you into quick, but satisfying snack places.
They also mark in the margin "Fodor's Choice" to help you find some of the best activities.

A nice guide book with not so many pages.......2004-12-26

I have a plan to travel Orlando this winter, and decided to buy a book about Orlando.

There were so many books about Orlando. Some gave very detailed information, but they were very thick and heavy.

The most important information you need for Orlando is which ride to visit, which parades to see, when to visit where, how to order all the attractions.

This is one of those must have items when you're facing a trip with your grandkids (that's TWO generations away from your own days on any wild ride) and I must say this guide to the park was enormously helpful even before we got there. A must have if you're taking kids to Walt Disney World.......2006-03-02

I first read an earlier version of this book several years ago, and Kim's sound advice has stayed with me, several trips on.

If you want to learn which rides to stay away from with young children, and what the must sees are, this is the book to read. And don't ignore Kim's most important tip of all. If you're travelling to Disney World with children, make sure you take that afternoon nap.

A Huge Help.......2005-08-27

I purchased this book as a guide to help plan a 5 day trip to WDW with my family. We just got back and let me tell you this book saved us a lot of waiting time for the rides, helped us know what to see and where and how to focus our energy. Ms. Wiley is right on the mark in her descriptions of the attractions and her tips about getting around the parks. The book was so helpful, I tore out the sections about each park and took it with us into the park. This version is missing info that wasn't available at the time of printing about some of the newer shows Disney has put in for its 50th anniversary celebration. The Cinderellabration show is wonderful especially if you have a princess lover in your family and the Wishes fireworks display over the castle in the Magic Kingdom. I would highly recommend this book even if you've been to WDW before.

This book is a must read before and during your trip. It has great money saving ideas and is easy to understand. The scare factors are extremely useful if you have children under 10.

I have to say that as a new owner of a Siberian Huskey I found this publication to be an excellent reference book. Everything from diet, breed history, breed standard, illness's, common problems with Huskys is covered. If someone is looking for the book in the house, it will be referred to as "the husky bible" by whoever is looking for it, brilliant book glad I purchased it.

I was very pleased with this book. We are getting ready to purchase our first Siberian Husky, and this not only gave us the information as to what we should look for when purchasing (as far as physical details), but information on transportation, how to handle it the first few days, reviews on what toys, bones, etc. are good for this breed, and much more. It also gives a good, brief, history on the breed, information about disposition and "how to" training for a pet and as a sled dog, and more.

A Comic Geek Treasure Trove.......2007-03-20

I have always been a huge fan of the JSA. In my younger days, I collected every issue of All Star Squadron. As I got older and married, I sold my collection to younger enthusiasts. Now, I can revisit my former passion in this book that describes all the issues of All-Star Squadron as well as interesting articles about the history of All-Star Comics and the JSA. If you are interested in greater understanding of the history of JSA, I heartily recommend this book.

This was an excellent read. Although I really enjoyed Vol. 1, Vol. 2 mainly deals with the All-Star Squadron series, which is the series I read growing up. It was a fascinating glimpse behind the scenes of one of my favorite super-hero teams. Highly recommended.

Nice little guide book, I'd like more episode information.......2005-12-02

Nice little guidebook for seasons 7 & 8, it gives you a paragraph about each episode (and a cast list) followed by about two pages of stuff by someone who was in that episode, or involved with it, telling their memories about it- and some interesting trivia bits that are of interest.
I'd like to get more information about the episodes themselves sometimes because you don't get much beyond a bare outline of the story. There's almost nothing about where/ how the episode was filmed. As with previous editions there are character profiles, with cast member provided material, along with sections devoted to such things as production and set design, special and visual effects. You'll get a photo or two with each episode description and the other sections. This time there's also a color photo section covering a lot of things including behind the scenes bits.
This is the only place I've read about who actually won the latest walk on role contest SciFi has each year.

Do you know Noh? If you don't know Noh then you don't know Japanese culture. In these modern Noh plays by the great Yukio Mishima, you can find a deep spiritual meaning. In Japan Noh is a kind of religion. No one undersood the Japanese soul as well as Mishima. The themes reveal his own obsessions, such as his fascination with beauty and death. In Sotoba Komachi, we have the Faustian story of the femme fatale. Works of such classical beauty are a welcome change from bestseller novels like Harry Potter. If you have an interest in the Japanese soul then you missing this book is a no-no.

Worth the Money.......2000-12-06

I have to start off by saying I am a bit confused as to the complaints about this book being a rip-off -- it is printed on almost indentical grades of paper and a fraction of the price of other similar photo-centered skating books, so how could this possibly be a rip off in comparison to others in the genre? Although many of the photos are not new, the book is nicely laid out and presented, like a personal scrapbook. I enjoyed it, but with its simple presentation it is most definitely geared towards Michelle's younger fans.

I really enjoyed this book! Michelle's book focuses only on positive things -- her own skating, friends, family, and favorite things. Michelle is truly a class act, and this book is yet another reflection of what makes Michelle a true champion.

This book was a nicely arranged book with many pictures and captions. They help you to know a little more about Michelle Kwan and her family and friends. It is worth getting and it is short but very enjoyable to the reader. This book is a must have for any Michelle Kwan fan !
