The good: This guide
* is small and compact
* is hardcover, more durable
* is sorted by edible plants parts
* is concise. It provides the most relevant information for identification and edibility on a single page
The bad: This guide
* has laughable distribution maps. They should be ignored. The distribution maps are extremely east-coast-centric, so it gives the appearance that all plants are either spread out over the entire continent, or are only on the east coast. The entry for blackberries, for example, says they don't grow here in Oregon. Anyone who lives on the west coast knows that blackberries are one of our major domestic and wild crops. They grow wild everywhere here. Same thing for the white oak entry.
* does not list any of the scientific names for any of the plant entries, one of the cardinal sins when constructing a nature guide. This makes it a bother to cross reference the entries in this book with other volumes. This is particularly useful when trying to determine whether something is a poisonous look-alike or not, dangerous when those scientific names are absent. Common names often are not the same when going from region to region. To make this book more useful I had to figure out and write in the family/genus/species names where appropriate so I could use it with other references.
Recommended but only as supplement to existing guides, such as Bradford Angier's Field Guide to Edible Wild Plants or a National Audubon field guide.
What you really need to play to safe with the wild stuff.......2001-07-16
This book is both a treasure, and a literal life-saver. The value of careful, detailed, full-color illustrations to the wild food forager cannot be over-stated. Near misses in id'ing a plant can put you in the hospital, or worse yet in the morgue (the number 1 reason why I don't eat wild mushrooms).
The ladies who put this one together knew what questions the beginner would need answered and in simple to the point pictures, text and diagrams tell all.
The layout of the book makes for speed and ease in usage and the illustrations are lovely. You will be amazed at what you find within.
If you have only one wild edibles book in your house make it this one!

First money-saving tip - don't buy this book.......2007-08-13
While the first two chapters have some moderately useful information about saving money on a trip to WDW, the rest of the book is much like any of the other Disney World guidebooks available. The authors describe each ride or show, but don't necessarily tell how to save money.
Since some of the information is now outdated, if you are looking for a guidebook, you would be much better off getting one of the "unofficial" guides (The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2007 (Unofficial Guides)) or the Passporter guide (PassPorter Walt Disney World 2007: The Unique Travel Guide, Planner, Organizer, Journal, and Keepsake! (Passporter Walt Disney World)).
For much better money saving tips, I would recommend Disney on a Dime: Money-Saving Secrets for Your Walt Disney World Vacation.

I was excited about buying the guide but learned that most of it was just information about the parks, i could read that in a tour book. Although the helpful website were informative but the rest of the book wasn't.

This is a COMPLETE waste of money. I didn't learn anything from this book that wasn't common sense! It is VERY outdated and apparently is just for people who have been under a rock since WDW was erected. SAVE your money and do NOT buy this book! Buy the WDW Passporter.

This book is about the early years of horses and when chairoits was frist used and the purpose of this book is to Provide you with information about horses. I though it was a prety good book. I thought Todd Dominey's review of this book was pretty well on the mark. There is some new information in Jute's book that I haven't seen elsewhere and information on the subject of grids is not easy to find. At the University of New South Wales this book is popular enough to rate a three day loan period.
Bad Design, Good Content.......2000-11-30
First let me say that "Grids" is one of the few books available on the subject of layout grids in graphic design for magazines, newspapers, brochures, etc. I had high hopes for Grids, especially since it ships with a disk of real-world templates to experiment with.
Trouble with Grids is its awful graphic design and typography. Many pages are soaked in black ink, for no clear reason, with reverse body type. If they aren't all black, then they are bright yellow with black text, printed on spit-shined glossy pages, making it an incredibly uncomfortable book to read. In addition, information is sprayed onto the page without clear intent. There isn't a lot of inspirational copy either. "Grids" simply presents the data and moves on.
If the colors aren't ugly enough, the typography will make you scream. Body type is set in the incredibly dull Helvetica, and the chapter headings have rivers of letterspacing.
The book is in serious need of updating / redesign, and that includes the "disk". You may assume it's a CD-ROM, but it's not. It's a 3.5" floppy. If you have a new Macintosh, better make sure you have a floppy drive.
But asthetics aside, this full length book is the only one I've ever found that tackles the topics of grids, which is the sole reason why the book is probably worth having.
What are "Grids" anyhow? Grids are the fundamental backbone of magazines, newspapers, and just about any professionally designed publication. They are a framework of horizontal and vertical guides, symmetrical and at times asymetrical, that provide a consistent harmony in your work. Ever notice how when you flip through a magazine that your eyes almost intuitively knows where to go? That's because of the invisible grid that holds the whole piece together.
It's surprises me that this is one of the few books on this topic. I just wish it was a bit clearer in focus, wasn't so dry, or ugly.

The contents of the book is really well laid out. However, there is a tendency of the enclosed floppy to be unreadible ( 2 out of 2 in my case). Unfortunately, the publisher is not US-based, and does not maintain a web-site.

For being such a short book, I wasn't expecting so much information from it. I was very much mistaken, this book was very informative and I learned a lot of useful things that I plan on implementing when I purchase my puppy.
Good "OVERVIEW" book for the breed.......1999-05-11
The book was really good at explaining the history of rottweilers. I was not very happy that it did not go into specifics about training the dogs/puppies. I am really interested in proven tips to train this type of dog. Very descriptive about picking out puppies. The pictures were really sharp and had vivid color. One quality issue I had, was that the paperback started to come apart after first viewing the inside of the book.

Herbal Bonsai Practicing the Art with Fast-Growing Herbs.......2000-06-07
This is the first book I have seen on the use of herbs as bonsai material. It is great book. It is informative and very descriptive with many black and white illustrations used to help explain text. Having only one-hundred pages, it is packed full of information on selecting herbs (including author recommended choices) suitable for use as bonsai. Training, developing, potting, shaping, caring for, and displaying herbal bonsai are all covered in detail. References and resources include mail-order nurseries. Terrific for beginners who don't want to invest a lot of money, but would like to try their hand at this hobby.

Ce volume, presente ici, apporte, apres une introduction generale sur l'histoire de sa genese et l'evolution de la papyrologie arabe jusque vers 1990, un ensemble de 98 documents arabes, la plupart sur papyrus, dont une quarantaine sont publies pour la premiere fois ici. Pour plus d'efficacite et pour englober le maximum d' aspects utiles aux chercheurs des differentes disciplines interessees, le plan initial de l'auteur a ete modifie et elargi de plusieurs domaines, ce qui fait que nous avons les parties suivantes: I-Textes de protocoles: bilingues et unilingues. II-Textes juridiques contenant des documents concernant: A-Le droit personnel-le droit matrimonial-B-Des relations d'affaires-C-Le droit hereditaire-D-Les procedures judiciaires-E- Des formulaires et esquisses de documents. III-Textes adminitratifs. IV-Lettres privees d'affaires. Enfin un glossaire arabe-francais-allemand, une bibliographie et des index. Ainsi concue, cette Chrestomathie se propose de servir comme instrument de travail a toutes les disciplines interessees a l'etude de la vie privee, sociale et administrative des premiers siecles islamiques, a travers des documents authentiques, dont la valeur est d'autant plus grande, qu'ils sont souvent uniques dans leur genre, pour l'etude de ces problemes dans la culture arabo-islamique en general. Les documents sont accompagnees d'une traduction francaise, et de notes ce qui en rend l'usage aise pour les non arabisants, comme les theologiens, les juristes, les historiens, les sociologues et d'autres. Although Grohman's Einfuhrung in die arabische Papyruskunde appeared already in 1954 and was the subject of a major resume in 1966 (in Handbuch der Orientalistik), the appearance of the second volume, which would have been the chrestomathy, was prevented by the death of the great scholar in 1977. The volume here on offer presents, after a general introduction explaining the genesis of the book itself as well as the evolution of Arabic papyrology until 1990, a corpus of 98 Arabic documents, mostly on papyrus. About forty of these are published here for the first time. With a view to making the work as user friendly as possible, and to encapsulate the maximum number of areas of potential use for interested scholars from different disciplines, Grohman's original plan has been modified and expanded in the following areas: I- protocol texts: mono- and bilingual. II- legal texts, containing the following documents: A. personal and matrimonial law. B. business documents. C. heridatory law. D. legal cases. E. Formularies and type-documents. III- administrative texts. IV private business letters. These are followed by an Arabic-French-German glossary, a bibliography, and full indices. Conceived in this manner, this chrestomathy is intended to function as a research tool for all disciplines concerned with the study of the private, social, and administrative life of the first few centuries of Islam, through the medium of original documents of undisputed authenticity many of which have special interest even within their own genres. Within this material much will be found of relevance for the study of the afore mentioned areas of research within the arabic Islamic culture. The documents are accompanied by a French translation, and notes intended also to facilitate their use by non-Arabists, such as theologians, legal experts, historians, sociologists etc..
