Long overdue.......2007-08-15

At last, a more recent revision of this group of orchids, incorporating numerous changes that have occured since the last major work by Hillerman.
The descriptions are accurate and comprehensive, with cultural advice etc. This book is a must-have as a refernce work and general addition to any good orchid library. My only negative impression was that there were a number of species with no line drawings or photos - I always find that a book with a larger variety of pictures of the species is of greater use to the general orchid grower. Nevertheless - this is a book any orchid grower must have, especially as it covers a large selection of these wonderful African Orchids.

I found this text to be most informative and easy to read and to understand. The layout was logical. For a grower relatively new to this genera the insights provided by Joyce Stewart helped me understand the limitations that my growing conditions place on successful culture of this group.

I believe that any serious grower of orchids would find this a welcome addition to thier reference library.

Excellent reference book for the Angraecoids. This is a huge work to list the many species, habitats, and culture.

Artwork in orchid books.......2007-01-04

I love flowers with green and white colours; of course the angraecoid orchids have to be one of my favourites. It was a more than positive surprise to see the pictures of Bob Campbell: I never have seen more perfect pictures on orchids. The whole book is monographically organised, a well of information on morphology and ecology of the species, and with a lot of information on culivation of the species. Great!

A necessity.......2006-08-25

In the past we have used the Let's Go series of books for a trip to Europe. All of the places we stayed at were recommended by the book and were economical, clean, and friendly. The Let's Go books also provide sample travel itineraries, unbiased and realistic descriptions of restaurants, nightclubs, and accomodations. It's a great way to help you plan a vacations that is tailored specifically to your own tastes. I would recommend any book from this series to anyone, no matter what your reason for travelling may be.

great budget guide for a beautiful vacation.......2004-12-01

helped us find the best (and no so expensive) sites on oahu and kauaii. generally very good restaurant/food recommendations, though sometimes a little off on the beaches. i would recommend this to anyone travelling to hawaii on a budget.

Great book for dog show enthusiasts........2000-06-26

Good Judgment is supposedly for the experienced dog person who is thinking of becoming a show judge. I think that's the wrong audience - a judge-wannabe should already know what this book has to say. The book is actually quite appropriate for the newcomer to showing. It provides good explanations about what the judge is doing and why, and how a show ring is managed - things the exhibitor needs to understand. There are good illustrations of examining a dog's conformation. I found the anatomy drawings very helpful, along with the pictures comparing proper and incorrect movement. Overall, this is a useful book that gave me some pointers on how to evaluate and show a dog and provided me a better understanding of what a judge is doing and thinking.

A STUNNING PICTORIAL CHRONOLOGY.......2001-12-23

As we are reminded in this stunning pictorial chronology there is little on our shores to rival the grand beauty and dramatic history of the Southwest. Photographer George H. H. Huey illustrates the volume with contemporary photos of landscapes from Arizona, California, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, and Utah.

Presenting the stories of this region and its peoples - Indian, Hispanic and Anglo - the author begins with the Clovis people, who can be traced back some 13,000 years, and then he moves on to the Pueblo and Hopi tribes who found homes on in the mesas of Arizona.

Spanish and French missionaries and explorers also play a role in the area's rich cultural background. Among the first missionaries to pioneeer the Southwest were Eusebio Kino and Junipero Serra who traveled to California to convert the native peoples and claim land for the Spanish king. Expeditions from France were largely focused on Texas.

Perhaps most impressive of all is the recounting of William Becknell's forging of the Santa Fe Trail.
