How does a bacterial cell grow during the division cycle? This question is answered by the codeveloper of the Cooper-Helmstetter model of DNA replication. Bacterial toxins that act inside cells interact very specifically with key components of the cell and some even manipulate the cell in subtle ways for their own purposes. I was not very impressed. No pictures, not written for my son's age (8 1/2). I was hoping for tales of Cerberus etc. and they were not there. Too bad, I would not recommend this book to a friend.

i am a huge fan of The new york public library series. and it just so happens that im obsessed with greek mythology. this was a very good book. it covered the basics of almost every culture that there were stories in. i learned a lot about other countries that i didnt know about. i highly recommend this book.

The best thing about this book is the way the author lays out the examples. Every step and calculation is explained in a very easy to understand format without taking up too many pages. If you want to learn how to do ANOVA tables this is the book to get.

Great book. A good amount of information. I bought the book after adopting a Maine Coon mix kitten and was a little confused by the statement that she wasn't meant for indoor living!

Quite a Good Guide.......2002-12-06

Cat books are far less common than dog guidebooks, and this is quite a good example of the genre. Each breed is shown in one or more pictures (usually showing different color variations), described in fairly detailed text, and summarized in a table describing physical attributes, coat care, and temperment.
The book is divided into sections by coat length; long hair, semi-long hair, and short hair. A brief section at the end discussing breeding and raising kittens.

A few minor quibbles: the book was originally published in England, so while it does talk about American CFA standards,the emphasis is on British standards -- and more coverage is given to breeds common in England, with less given to American breeds.
They also note that some breeds (Maine Coons, for example) are 'freedom loving' and not suited to be kept indoors. Most responsible breeders/owners would argue that ALL cats, regardless of breed, are better off indoors, or if permitted out, still kept under control with fence or leash.

You will swear that some of these images are pencil drawings and others a part of a dream. William Abranowicz is a gifted photographer whose passion for pristine landscapes and still life reinvents this artform. As a collector of his work, I was thrilled to see his first book published. The world has enjoyed his images without knowing they were enjoying the world through his eyes. Through his lens, we see a world that invites all the senses to be aroused. I will cherish this book as a personal treasure from my friend.

About the Book The book provides an account of the author's experiences in the army from October 1942 to September 1945, and, to a substantial extent, a narrative about the operations of the Army Air Force's 404th Fighter Group from the time of its activation early in 1943 to September 1945-the thirty-month interval during which he served in it as a nonflying enlisted man and noncommissioned officer. From April 1944 until V-E Day, the group operated successively from seven bases and strips in England, Normandy, elsewhere in France, in Belgium, and in Germany, with its pilots completing an aggregate of some 30,346 combat hours. For its war activities, it became the recipient of a U. S. Presidential Unit Citation and a Croix de guerre with palm bestowed by the President of France. Each member of the group was decorated with a Belgian fourragere. Of the some 1,000 individuals serving in the group, forty-three lost their lives during the months of combat, almost all of them pilots. Though deactivated in November 1945, the unit's survivors have retained ties through periodic reunions and through a newsletter entitled Poop Sheet, which continues to be issued several times a year.

I found a copy of this book onmy doorstep the other morning. I suspect the neighbor across the street. She isnt part of the Arcticacre clan and sometimes we find her drinking from our hose and isolating certain blades of grass with these small but very detailed sponge figures. I thought one of them was me, until it rained.

So, the book was there on my doorstep. I immediately started reading. I cant tell you how long I read the book, but it must have been three hours and twelve minutes. My favorite part was the part about how bacon is great in all sorts of bacon related food items. I just wish that they had some animated bacon cartoon characters on the cover and in a DVD inserted into the book. I dont like the idea of watching what I eat dance cutely, but with so may bacon recipes perhaps my neighbor has other plans.

This is an amazing cookbook. Every recipe I have tried, save one, has been absolutely delicious. The coq au vin and vodka sauce recipes are particularly good, the best I have ever eaten, even when compared to what I have tried in excellent restaurants. Pictures are lovely and the instructions are very easy to follow. I wish every cookbook was so inventive, and so reliable.

This is a book where you have seen everything before. I was very disappointed. Margaret J. Miller normally makes good books to my knowledge. But this is just a repetition of what we all have seen before, put at a different angel. It look's to me that is just about producing a new book, whit old ideas.

The premise of this book, setting traditional blocks in innovative and creative ways, was what drew me to it. I was quickly disappointed to discover, however, that really what you get is one innovative setting idea. The instructions provided are good, however there is little here to inspire.

This book is not for beginners, but more for those of us that have a lot of unused quilt blocks sitting around. It is also good for the experienced quilter that is board and wants a new twist to making quilt tops.

I've got lots of quilting books, but not many that offer innovative settings for the sampler square collections that I'm beginning to acquire. This book is for me. Layouts for sixteen quilts and all of them use straight line piecing. There are full color photos and advice on fabric choices. Best of all there are sample layouts to play with. I've always liked Margaret Miller's approach of playing with design by breaking a block down to a couple basic shapes and playing with it. I'm glad that she's extended this method to quilt settings.
