If you want to know about THC then this is the book to get about just that. Be warned! This is heavy on the chemistry and is mostly devoted to that science and so if you do not know much about chemistry then you may only get the benefits from the sections on processing and potency.

If you like science and chemistry and cannabis then this is the book for you. It is everything about cannabinoids (the main psychoactive ingredients in cannabis). This is an excellent resourse for the chemistry minded cannabis lover.

This book uses data collected from the pre-Reagan ban on marijuana studies to make good informed conclusions about cannabis. It dips into most everything but I wanted more genetic information.

If you're the type who gets rather sensitive about hometowns, I suggest staying away from this book, especially if your town is in it. But if you can enjoy sarcasm and cutting wit, this is hilarious. I have enjoyed it quite a bit.

Curmudgeonly quotes from a wide-ranging assortment of grumpy notables from George Bernard Shaw to Dave Barry cover topics from specific destinations, from Akron to Winnipeg, plus notations on food, transportation, and accommodations. Great little book for bathroom reading, bedside tables, and whenever you're feeling grouchy and need a smile.

This is a good book for basic ideas about Rottweilers -- the sort of book to read if you are thinking about getting a Rottweiler but haven't decided. If covers the basics of dog ownership as they apply to the Rottweiler's basic temperment as a breed. It is also a good book for those who did as we did, pick up a Rottweiler from the pound. As it is short and quick reading, it gives the basics of the Rottweiler's psychology and habits for those in need of quick reference. I recommend it for those not yet Rottweiler owners and those who became Rottweiler owners unexpectedly.

I can't believe the high ratings this book received!.......2006-04-12

The titled of this book should be "Creating a Cottage Garden in North America unless you live in the south. If you live in the south, this book is usless to you." If it were titled that, I would have saved my money. What a disappointment. The are few pictures and the narrative is really boring. If you live in zones 3-4, you may find some vage (very vague) interest in this book but there are so many better books out there. I bought the book based on the recommendations on Amazon. I hope you save your money or review this book at the book store before spending your hard earned money on it.

I do like this book and I'll probably refer to it often but I'm not quite as enthusiastic about it as the other reviewers. The history was very interesting but because there was so much of it, there wasn't as much coverage of suitable plants as other books. On the plus side of that, the author also didn't go into "information overload" and provide umteen-zillion varieties of every possible rose that could be planted. He did discuss some rarely used plants that I definitely want in my garden and he knows how to grow them, too, which is a plus. He also included some recipes for some of the unusual vegetables. And the pictures are wonderful.

Stephen Westcott-Gratton has written a 'hit the nail on the head' how to book on putting in a Cottage Garden. It is obvious he is both gardener and writer because his advice is methodical and his suggestions very workable.

He dispels the myth that English Cottage Gardens need to be contrived, reinforces the necessity for tight plantings and encourages the experimentation of different plants which provide the fun and color for this kind of garden.

This book covers the history of the Cottage Garden and some of the plants traditionally used. It is both an enjoyable read and an informative tome for taking your small spot and turning it into a riot of color and a haven for life of all kinds.

The plant selections are typical of someone who gardens in Canada, but that does not diminish the how to information the book provides.

Plus, Mr. Westcott-Gratton definitely leans to the organic and that is dear to our hearts.

For those of us who like the cottage garden look and live in North America, this is a valuable book. Written in a style laced with humor, it debunks myths and inspires an adventurous approach. It is full of detailed information about how to create the cottage garden look and includes a well organized glossary of specific plants which lend themselves to an easy approach to this style. It also includes a palatable dollop of horticultural history, well written and not overwhelming for those more interested in today! Good enough that I decided I must own it!

The articles in this volume have been written in memory of the feminist biblical scholar, Fokkelien van Dijk-Hemmes, who died at the early age of 50. The authors endeavour to continue and advance the dialogue with her by evaluating and interacting with her scholarly legacy. Their concern is with various aspects of her work on the Hebrew Bible, and they respond in particular to the feminist hermeneutics she developed for reading biblical texts. Several articles test her method in application to specific prophetic texts. Other contributions focus on aspects of the role of women in the cults of Ancient Israel. For after the death of Mao, his successor, Deng Xioping, reversed the aim of China's revolutionary course. Deng rejected Mao's collective road and instead embarked on a free-market "Socialism with Chinese characteristics."

Important defence of a maligned epoch.......2000-11-30

The manuscript of this book had to be smuggled out of China, where the reactionary government suppressed its publication. Today's Chinese "Communist" Party viciously slanders the achievements of collective agriculture in the community Dazhai and the visionary leader Chen Yonggui who helped to make it a success. Yet thousands of people, both Chinese and foreign, saw for themselves the development of this once backward village into a thriving, highly productive agricultural community. It prospered until the early 1980s, when it was forcibly disbanded by the central government. The effects of decollectivisation were dramatic and criminal: in 1987, Dazhai, formerly a prosperous collective, was not able to feed itself.

Qin Huailu is to be applauded for having the courage to record this important period of history in the face of oppression by the current counterrevolutionary régime. The accomplishments of Chen Yonggui and Dazhai will not be forgotten.
