Marc Mancini, Phd, is the travel industry's most well-known industry educator and speaker.

As a travel school student (and later as an Instructor at the same school) I watched his many travel education videos and read many of his textbooks. He clearly presents topics vital to the travel industry and explains in depth subjects which should be required reading for all professionals in the industry.

Now, even with over 13 years working in various segments of the highly diverse travel and tourism field, I find reading Dr. Mancini's books and viewing his entertaining and informative videos enhances my everyday performance.

I highly recommend Dr. Mancini's materials to all currently employed in the travel industry and those considering a career change!!!

As a newcomer to the travel industry, this book has been a wonderful eyeopener. Even the most experienced travel professional can benefit from Mr. Mancini's knowledge of different places around the world.

The language is easy to understand, the information pertinent for the travel professional's needs, and layout is clear and manageable (not overbearing or textbook-like).

Mr. Mancini's reputation as an experienced professional in the travel industry is well acknowledged by his collegues and he is looked up to by newcomers, like myself.

The best geography book geared to the travel industry.......2004-04-30

Most of the geography books available today have limited usefullness to a travel agent. Knowing the amount of bauxite a country produces doesn't help sell that region as a travel destination. In this book, Mancini details the important facts about the places that people travel to throughout the world.
In addition to the useful locater maps and detailed descriptions of the various cities and countries, Mancini includes little known facts and suggestions that travel agents can pass along to their customers. A first rate book.

This is a well-written pamphlet providing elementary information on water and aquarium chemistry. If that is what you are looking for, this book should probably be a 5* book. I was looking for more detailed and more in-depth information than this book provides and was a bit disappointed.

Book covers details on water cycle, oxygen, carbon dioxide, chlorine, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, nitrogen cycle, pH, hardness & salinity, temperature, various filtrations, maintenance, and plants. It covers briefly on all other aspects of aquarium and fish, but the author does it well in a clear, concise manner. Lots of pictures and graphs. The book is packed with wealth of information in just 80 pages!

The Book of Sirach Needs Jan Liesen.......2002-09-13

This book is the doctoral dissertation written by Father Jan Liesen of the Netherlands for the Pontifical Biblical Institute. I was present at his defense in Rome on January 16th, 1998.
Sirach (also known as Ecclesiasticus) is part of the deuterocanonica, accepted as part of Scripture by Orthodox, Catholics and some Protestants, but not accepted by Jews and most Protestants. Because this book was not accepted as Scripture by the rabbis at the Council of Jamnia, the original Hebrew text of the book was lost. Nonetheless, the book continued to exercise some influence on Jewish thought, and there are some 80 quotations in the talmudic literature. Eventually partial Hebrew manuscripts surfaced in Cairo in the 1880's and at Qumran in the 1950's. It is now possible to attempt a reconstruction of the Hebrew original, but there are so many different redactions that it is not easy to establish the text. Liesen treats chapter 39 as a "test case" for his methodology for dealing with this elusive author. Liesen's book is indispensable to an informed study of Sirach.

History of TV technology (& the man who made it).......2000-09-12

This is a technological biography of the man who came to be known as the "father" of the technology he worked on for much of his life -- television. In many places Zworykin the man is displaced by the work he was engaged in. However, those are actually the most interesting and best-written parts of the book, sometimes becoming almost exciting reading. The chapters on Zworykin's early life in Russia tend to plod, even when recounting his adventures during the Russian Revolution.

Abramson is the principal television history researcher in the US , and his work is exceptionally detailed and as even-handed as any human can make it. He comes down on the side of Zworykin in the "who invented television" question, and has compelling data to back it up, but is careful to give credit where it's due to each of the many inventors who contributed to the technology. Abramson's biggest fault as a writer is that he loves his research too much, and includes EVERYTHING, to the detriment of narrative flow. The footnotes section is well over 10% of the book, and is interesting in its own right.

Despite the sometimes-clumsy prose, this is a fine book that illuminates the life of Zworykin and the history of early television technology.

21st CENTURY SOLUTIONS!.......2001-02-21

For once, a book is all it claims to be. The Superhormone Promise certainly is the definitive work on DHEA, Pregnenolone, Testosterone, Estrogen and Progesterone, Thyroid Hormone, Growth Hormone and Melatonin. It clearly explains the power of superhormones to boost immune systems, increase sex drive, strengthen bone and muscle, relieve depression & stress, enhance memory, reduce body fat, reverse aging, and much more. And the best news is that these I can vouch that these claims are true as far as DHEA, Pregnenolone and Melatonin are concerned (I haven't personally tried the others). I have been experimenting with the above-mentioned three hormones for the past four years and have achieved remarkable results. Pregnenolone is the best safe substance for increasing mind power and lifting depression, DHEA is superb for increasing the sex drive and providing energy, whilst Melatonin is my choice for a good night's sleep and for strengthening immunity. I have also found that by combining these with the use of free-form amino acids, the results are even more spectacular and impressive. I strongly recommend this book to all people aged 30 and over. It is easy to understsand and written in an engaging style so that it answers every possible question. There are various indexes and a good bibliography. I also recommend "The Amino Revolution" by Erdman & Jones and the various books by Dr Ray Sahelian, all available here on amazon.com

This book is a great resource for those of us who wish to see in great detail various inlay patterns in Craftsman furniture. Most photo-oriented books really do not take the time to focus-in on the inlay, leaving the details a blurry mystery. The author has taken the time to reproduce authentic inlays using Autocad line drawings. This is a highly specialized kind of book and I was elated to find it! Leave it to Robert Lang to give us the expert's details.

The book could be greatly improved by the addition of close-up color photos of the inlays the designs were taken from.

A great addition to the Craftsman movement! A 5-star effort!

I work part time at a greenhouse (mostly as an indentured servant to my own gardening habit) and am TIRED of those whom I refer to as "Garden Nazis" - people (some of them - horrors - my very own co-workers) who think gardening is all about what you see in *those* magazines. You know the ones. This book offers a much needed and totally refreshing viewpoint that takes the onous off of we gardeners to create in just one way and opens avenues into whole new worlds! When I was a kid, I thought I'd like to be eccentric when I grew up. On my good days, I flatter myself that I've attained this goal. Compared with the people whose gardens are shown here, however, I'm a rank amateur. The gardeners whose work are presented have a clear vision of what they want, and they've gone to whatever lengths were necessary to create it. There's topiary, there's folk art, there's real art. I guarantee you'll find some of it ugly or tacky -- but anyone who wants more from a garden than what good taste and convention can provide will be riveted and inspired.
