Great Hydroponics.......2007-05-07
I found this book to be the best of several I have read. It is an easy read with lots of information.
Weak nutrient and aeroponic information!!!.......2004-02-14
This book was written south of the equator, take that fact into account when applying the author's studies. Very weak nutrient formula information. For commercial operations, more emphasis should have been made on formulations and chemistry. In the section about individual crop formulations, the author tends to use ratios rather than ranges, leaving a very vague taste in your mouth. Mason's nutrient information in this section does not co-relate to the information given in his previous sections, major logical flaws. All supplier references are extensive and complete for someone who lives in Australia, if you live in North America, they're useless. --.

Very good reference, especially for nutrient information.......2000-03-31
A fine nutrient reference for specific plants and systems. Not real big on systems "techie" info, but it covers all the major types. I rate it a 'must have' for beginner or advanced grower.
A must have for people thinking about getting into hydro.......1998-04-20
This book is packed with information. It is easy to read and straight to the point. I loved the section covering how to grow the different plants. It really eliminated the guess work concerning the nutrient solution requirements for a particular type of plant. I look forward to even more plants being covered in future editions.
Book Description
As you know, everything in Texas is big. The steaks are big, the hills are big, the trees, buildings, and attitude are big. So when Neal Davis found great motorcycling in Texas, he found it in big supply. This book will show you the routes and reasons that Texas boasts one of the largest populations of registered motorcyclists in the nation. Find out what so many people already know: Texas has a coastline, hill country, Wild West, and gorgeous weather that make the state a premier motorcycling destination. Neal Davis has filled this book with detailed maps, photographs, easy-to-follow directions, and great tips for travel. Whether you're a Texas native and want to explore your own vast backyard, or you're ready to begin planning your first visit to the Lone Star State, this book will help you find the best of what youre looking for. Texas has a thrilling history. It has been claimed, at one time or another, by six different nations, and has won independence from five of them. Davis will take you to many important historical sites while explaining to you the significance of each. He'll even tell you how to get around them if you prefer to stick to the twisting hill country or seaside roads. For centuries, Texas has been a destination for those seeking adventure. Find out why and plan an adventure of your own with this book as your guide.

Motorcycle Journeys Through Texas.......2007-06-16
If your riding style is sport motorcycles and twisty roads of the Hill Country or if you prefer dual sport in the Big Bend region this book may be for you. However, if you prefer long rides either solo or with a passenger, consider this. According to Mr Davis, "You'll notice that most of the rides I recommend are located in the southern two-thirds of the state. This is because that is where the good riding is. The roads in the northern one-third tend to be flat, straight and boring" (page 211). This book neglects a vast portion of our great state, namely anything north or west of Dallas, also the I-35 corridor north of Austin. There is no mention of the "North Texas Hill Country" of any of the beautiful open roads of the low rolling planes, high planes or the panhandle, except for one ride around Palo Duro Canyon about 20 miles long. I'm sorry this individual failed to cover the whole state in his research of roads to ride. He really needs to venture more to the north and out west. After all we have wonderful farm to market roads all over this state, they are not limited to certain regions. Hopefully Mr. Davis will continue to explore other regions of Texas and will include them in any future editions. With this in mind, and as a resident who lives just north of Dallas; I cannot recomend this book as a good source for riders in Texas. I would like to recomend a regionl magazine, Ride Texas. This is a wonderful bi-monthly publication, covering the ENTIRE state.
Wonder where to go this weekend?.......2006-10-03
I've read this work cover to cover twice already. Not because I didn't understand the first time, but because it's an enjoyable read. Furthermore, I discovered some very interesting rides and particulars about others that I would have missed. I've spider-webbed most all the roads in Hill Country and agree with the author's description of this area. I've followed several of the routes noted in this work and one just leads me to the next. If you're looking to motorcycle around Texas, you'll not be wasting your time reading Motorcycle Journeys Through Texas.
TX review.......2006-03-26
This was an interesting read. I am moving to TX soon and wanted some insite as to what I would be getting into for ridding my scoot. I will update the review once I try out a few of the routes in the book, but it was well written and included a fair amount of history for the different areas. If anything could have been better, it would have been accomidations (inns/eateries) but these are hard to keep current and everyone has there own preferences...
Great book so far!
Motorcycling.......2006-03-07
So far, of all the books I've bought for this purpose, this has been the most informative. Well worth it.

A great book for kids.......2007-05-12
I bought this book for my kids ages 3, 6, & 9 in preparation for our trip to Hawaii. Each one of them has enjoyed it and now they have a better idea of what they will be seeing in the national park. It's well-written with lots of pictures and keeps their interest. I highly recommend it.

The following text is from the Preface:.......2005-06-06
Most of us yearn to travel, and the preliminary to travel is to choose a place that others, people or books, say is interesting, then find out more about it.
This guide is to help you find out more about Haleakala. It is neither a reference book nor a treatise. It sums up what many have studied and observed. It skims over the myths that the mountain itself created in the imagination of old Hawailans. It reflects also the labor and thought of the compiler. Its aim is to satisfy your interest while you are here on the brim, or at some other point. For some of you it may be the start of a deeper curiosity, to be satisfied by further reading elsewhere.
Think of this booklet as a chatty companion along the way, and a ready reminder after you have left, of your pleasant experience at Haleakala.

More photos than text........2000-05-23
I was very disappointed and will be returning this book because it was little more than a collection of photos of various keeshonden. There was no valuable or unique information that could not be found in any general dog book. If you just want photos to scan or look at, take pictures of your own Keeshond, but if you want to purchase photos of someone elses, this book is for you.
The Guide is more about photos than instruction........2000-05-23
The guide had some very interesting information dispesed throughout the book, however it fell well short of my expectations. I had hoped for something specific to the breed that I could not find in a more general book about all breeds. What I found was mostly photos and a few paragraphs thrown in between. I gave it two stars for the photos, very glossy and well done, and one star for the writing. But this book for the pictures not the information.
