Definitely User friendly.......2001-10-24

I just spent all day with this book, using it in the field and in the lab with my plant ecology students (undergraduates). I know that Sphagnum identification is difficult but the students found the random access key to 27 species very easy to use . It is much easier to use the key in the lab with a dissecting microscope and some dissecting tools than in the field. However the photographs are useful and the species descriptions are very complete. The book starts off with excellent chapters on the natural history, anatomy and ecology of Sphagnum.

Outdated information.......2007-10-10

This book is sooooo outdated. Theres no train to Fushimi Inari but to Inari station. Theres no maiko show at the International Hotel "every night", it is only Fridays and Saturdays. Theres no mention of Ryozen Kwan On monument. Plus, I had to wait forever for the book to arrive on my mail. Against what the book says, people do their best to speak in english. After 12 hours in Kyoto, I threw this book away.

Solid book. A little hard to navigate though.......2006-11-08

All in all, this was a good book, it had a lot of information that was targeted to a specific area. The book was small and easy to carry along.

I did find it's structure wasn't great and the maps weren't the best. All in all, it did the job though.

Still looking.......2007-10-10

I'm still on the hunt for a good all-around book to describe more about taking CARE of angelfish, in regard to feeding, personalities, water chemistry/temperature, what they like/dislike, yadda yadda. But lots of good pictures, and I thought a lot was devoted to the different varieties of angelfish (although I'm sure there are so many that it would be difficult to show them all)

Overall a good book........2000-09-04

This is a good first angelfish book. I was a little disapointed though because I would like to see them show more varities of angelfish. They only showed a select few. They don't have much information on genetics either.

Over all I did learn some from this book and the pictures they did have are really good. So if you aren't looking for a book on all varieties of angelfish with lots of information this book is a good start for your collection of books. I refer to it quite a bit.

The hobby of collecting paper money is red hot. More and more people are becoming interested in this fascinating hobby combining banking, history, art, and even genealogy. Hobbyists have taken to collecting national bank notes as a fun way to stay connected to their hometown. National Bank Notes from Bowling Green, KY assumes the reader has a basic understanding of national bank notes and explores the author's hometown currency from Bowling Green, Kentucky.

This non-fiction highlights over 12 years of work by the author including dozens of interviews and hundreds of research hours. The research involved cataloging surviving bank notes, documenting history of the banks, and finding biographies of the bank's officers who signed the bank notes. The research pulled extensively from the U.S. National Archives, Smithsonian Institution, Kentucky Library, and Comptroller of Currency Annual Reports.

From 1874 to 1935 Bowling Green supported six national banks, with notes surviving from four of the six banks. Notes from the Citizens National Bank and American National Bank are fairly common, while notes from the Liberty National Bank and Bowling Green National Bank are quite rare. The Warren National Bank and National Southern Kentucky Bank have no surviving notes. The author loves the hobby of collecting paper money and shares that enthusiasm with his readers.

I have had this book for about 3 years now, and refer to it constantly. I spend my cold winters reading it, finding a new plant or two to try each spring....I have not been dissapointed in the slightest. The organization is super, the pictures are great and it just has so much information about each plant...where to plant, how much water, fertilizer,climate, propagation methods, etc. Can't say enough about this book,it's my favorite, and I must own at least 20 gardening books. I just came online to order it for some one special for her birthday, she too likes to garden, and I am sure she will enjoy this book as much as I have.

I agree with all the other reviews; this is a very useful book, with often hard to come by information (such as pH, animal resistance, life expectency) in one place. My only complaints are: 1.the plants are listed in each section by common name, which can differ widely, instead of botanical names which are constant (almost:). 2. There is no master list at the beginning of the book or the beginning of each section of the names of the plants, so you have to scan the whole book to find this out.

My favorite garden book.......2004-05-16

I have been gardening for 5 years. In other words, I'm a novice. Although this book doesn't cover every single plant, it includes plenty. It's easy to use and gives alot of information about each plant. One of the things I like is that every plant has it's own little chart that give basic info. The text is more indepth. I've had this book for 2 years and still read it. If you're new to gardening, buy this book!

My husband and I have a lawn and landscape business and we own tons of gardening books, and this is our favorite. It is laid out very well and includes everything you need to know about the plants listed. I found nearly every plant we use in our own and our clients gardens in this book. I was very impressed with the information and photos. This is the first plant book I would recommend to anyone, and it could very well be the only one you need.

I enjoy using this book as a reference. Great pictures accompany the information material. Has much misc. information, such as: potential problems, quirks of a plant, critter resistance, the source, etc. I truly am pleased with this purchase! It was worth every penny I spent! I am a beginner gardener & I think this book was a big influence that got me hooked on gardening!
