A great standard reference for the quagmire of fungal taxonomy. At time's it is so specific that a dictionary is needed to read it! Readers interested in identification of fungi should chose a field guide.

Find What You Want in San Francisco with This Guide!.......2003-02-09

This guide is packed with great information to get whatever it is you're looking for in San Francisco. I found the book to be user friendly, down to earth, and honest. Since I am a vinyl junkie, I was thrilled to look in the index and find the heading for "Record Stores". This guide was extremely useful when exploring "The Haight", my favorite area of The City. Bravo to the contributors, and to the Manic D production team, for this great Second Edition!

Pocket-sized, fun!.......2000-04-16

This guidebook is a wonderfull resource if you're just visiting or planing to stay awhile. Each section is written by a different person, with different interests and perspectives (bars, thrift stores, piercing, poetry readings, bookstores, etc.) It also has useful sections on Oakland and Berkeley. If you're thinking of moving to the "Bay Area", there are handy guides to housing and employment. It's a great book, and worth every penny!

What Can a Monkey Know?.......2002-03-26

I read this book in connection with graduate coursework under Seyfarth at the University of Pennsylvania. Cheney and Seyfarth describe a fascinating line of research on primates, mainly but not solely their own work on vervet monkeys. The goal is to form an account of the mind of the nonhuman primate -- how much do they understand about themselves, about other minds, and about the world?

I think that these are questions that fascinate almost all of us. What would it be like to be very nearly as intelligent as a human being, but to lack language (not merely a means of communication but also a way of formulating knowledge -- therefore a modality of knowing)? It is, of course, impossible ever to understand as a monkey understands or to feel as a monkey feels, but there is no better way to learn what a monkey can know or feel than Cheney and Seyfarth's engaging book.

Lots of great pictures, but the pricing levels are very arbitrary. Also, there are a few errors in the guide as to the existance and availability of some cars.

If you ever had any Hotwheels as a kid and have have wondered what they would be worth now, or how many colors and versions there were this is the book. Hundreds of color photographs and wheel variations through the years along with current values. Quite a bargain, excellent investment.

Perhaps, the Hot Wheel Collector's Bible!.......1997-05-14

This book has been long awaited by the veteran and the novice Hot Wheel collector. Mike Strauss is assumed the "all knowing" Mr. Hot Wheel. This book with the previous, is the most comprehensive and detailed book on the collection since its conception. It would be impossible to conceive the cost to photograph each vehicle and give detailed definition should the collector assume such an endeavor. This book will be an added collector piece to the actual Hot Wheel vehicles. Thanks, Mike

I have looked at many many books trying to find one that would help me to easily identify Barbie. Well folks, this is it! The pictures are wonderful, brightly colored and large enough to see detail. This is a "Must Have" book if you are a collector. (or if you buy used dolls to make up an OOAK) Well worth the money spent. I highly recommend!

Wonderful Encyclopedia for Barbie collectors!.......2001-10-24

This book is the most wonderful Encyclopedia about Barbie dolls. It has so many dolls listed with descriptions, prices and pics of the dolls in their boxes. Many pink boxes, OOAK Mattel dolls and collectibles. Pictures are nice, they are from the doll in box, and there are closes on some dolls.

If you need information on Pink Boxes, this book is the best!!! There are a new version 'cos this is not updated, the dolls showed ends on 1999. There are no 2000 dolls or 2001. But there are a second edition, so search for the new edition!

This book was very informative regarding dolls and values. I wish it would have had more of the "Special Edition" models and values though. Lots of pictures that are a good size for viewing and easy to see.

This book is put together very well, the index pages in the back make it easy to locate the dolls that you are looking for. I am a beginner and this book was very helpful for me to put a value on the dolls that I already have.

I just received the COLLECTOR'S ENCYCLOPEDIA of BARBIE by JMichael Augustyniak. I thought I knew a lot about the value of eachdoll, I sell them and buy them regularly right here on amazon.com auctions. However, I opened the pages of this book and it is fantastic and a must for any serious collector. All the photos are in color, by date, series, it is all in this book. You will be amazed that some Barbies are valued in high 5 figures! I'm so glad I have this reference. Everyone who is interested in Barbie should! END

Very interesting and sincere book of life experience and wisdom, indispensable for any orthopaedic practinioner; it's going to be an extremely exciting reading for anyone, concerned with orthopaedic surgery and modern medicine in general. The very epigraphs to the chapters are worth jotting down and being remembered through one's life. I'd especially recommend it to my fellows orthopaedic surgeons, who, in author's unvarnished narrative, would find their own practice events mirrored to some extent, and also feel themselves for a moment communicating with many legendary figures of American orthopaedics. It made me more humble and at the same time opened new horizons for my mind. A must-have book.
