A Versatile Resource for Sacred Geometry!.......2003-03-05

This book is a feast for the eyes and joy for the hands of those who would take advantage of the secrets within! It introduces the reader to the simple concepts of projective geometry and set theory as it has been applied to such devices as magic squares and Celtic knotwork. Beyond that, it is illustrated with fantastic line drawings in Art Nouveau style showing how these aesthetic sources can be applied not just to architecture, but costume and ornament design. Almost a century old since its first printing but still very timeless and relevant. Bragdon's writing shows exuberance tempered with a respect for doing the craft right in an almost religious aspect. Very proud to have this in my collection!

The collection includes pieces made by European goldsmiths that reflect the controversial Europeanization of Russian art and culture that began shortly after Peter the Great established St. Petersburg as the capital of the country in the early 18th century. The snuffboxes are particularly exceptional and varied--one is in the shape of a pug, another's lid is comprised of one large gemstone, and yet another is a brilliantly colored enameled peacock--and attest to the creativity of the craftspeople. The intricate portrait rings are unusual and ablaze with gemstones, and the intricate coasters, plates, chalices, and other household items illustrate the skill of these ancient artisans. This cookbook is one of my stash that I pull out regularly. I have several favorites I make over and over again plus I check it out often for new dishes to try. My sister in-law was one of three women who tested every recipe submitted for the book. The recipes are accurate, fool-proof and delicious. I have given it as a gift several times and always hear back from friends how much they like the book too! Some of my favorite recipes are, "Black Bean Salsa," "Texas Tortilla Soup" and "Southern Sweet Potato Casserole."

For this newly pregnant health educator, this was a nice, solid read on this topic. Paget does a good job establishing herself as a resource (including that she conducted an online survey of 100 or so couples) and she incorporates expert and interviewee (preggies and their male partners) comments really well throughout. Her info is solid and intelligent, but... I wasn't blown away by it. I found her tone a bit on the stuffy side, and even a bit of a downer in parts, e.g., she actually goes after "frumpy" preggies. Paget does ack. the downers that can come along w/ pregnancy and she doesn't always try to give advice that helps lovers to deal beyond decent fashion advice. In hoping for something that would live up to its title, my husband and I were a bit disappointed overall.

Excellent How-To guide.......2007-07-23

I highly recommend this book to any couple that is worried about how to get through pregnancy without losing a healthy sexual aspect to their relationship. Paget's book does a great job explaining how you can remain sexual during pregnancy and it gives good advice on how to reignite a sexual relationship after the baby's birth once you are new parents. Paget has a very conversational and easy-to-read writing style that gets across important sexual health information. This is a great book for clearing up any myths or misinformation you might have about sex and pregnancy. It does a great job detailing advice and tips on safe sexual techniques during each trimester of pregnancy. The diagrams are effective too.
