There currently is no better reference for edible fruits & vegetables. There are 1000's of entries, each with cultural (growing) information, significant cultivars, and known sources for the plants. Truly a heroic accomplishment.

Be sure to get the 2nd edition.

Lists all kinds of hard to find plants and varieties, etc. Wonderful illustrations on the front cover, but that is about it for pictures. A lot of reading, which is no problem, because it keeps you very entertained. My husband, who knows a lot about gardening edible plants, LOVES this book and was so excited when he got it that you would have thought I wrapped a Sunbeam Tiger and placed it under the tree!

If you or you have a loved one who's a garden guru, or would like to be. They/you will love this book! Took a long time to receive. Long wait.

Cornucopia is an excellent reference guide on a vast range of fruits and vegetables available to consumers, agriculturists, plant nurseries, growers and the produce industry. It ought to be ranked at the top with such books as "Fruits of Warm Climates" by Julia Morton (1987) and "Tropica" Graf. (1993) by Roehrs Publishing Co. It should be a must in the libraries of all who seek to know what nature has to offer.

This is one of those must have items when you're facing a trip with your grandkids (that's TWO generations away from your own days on any wild ride) and I must say this guide to the park was enormously helpful even before we got there. Thanks a lot! Our trip was a huge success and Ms. Wiley's book gets a lot of the credit.

A must have if you're taking kids to Walt Disney World.......2006-03-02

I first read an earlier version of this book several years ago, and Kim's sound advice has stayed with me, several trips on.

If you want to learn which rides to stay away from with young children, and what the must sees are, this is the book to read. And don't ignore Kim's most important tip of all. If you're travelling to Disney World with children, make sure you take that afternoon nap.

A Huge Help.......2005-08-27

I purchased this book as a guide to help plan a 5 day trip to WDW with my family. We just got back and let me tell you this book saved us a lot of waiting time for the rides, helped us know what to see and where and how to focus our energy. Ms. Wiley is right on the mark in her descriptions of the attractions and her tips about getting around the parks. The book was so helpful, I tore out the sections about each park and took it with us into the park. This version is missing info that wasn't available at the time of printing about some of the newer shows Disney has put in for its 50th anniversary celebration. The Cinderellabration show is wonderful especially if you have a princess lover in your family and the Wishes fireworks display over the castle in the Magic Kingdom. I would highly recommend this book even if you've been to WDW before.

Entangled in its roots is evidence that leads Constable John McIntire to the abandoned farmstead of a young couple who had supposedly left the community years before, part of an exodus of Finnish-Americans gone off to build a workers' Utopia in the Soviet republic of Karelia. In his zeal to uncover the truth, McIntire brings the scrutiny--and the suspicion--of a Red-hunting government agent upon his neighbors and himself. It is only the beginning of his mis-calculations. Solid complex murder mystery.......2006-04-29

Author Kathleen Hills has a history with regions of the northern United States, and although the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is separate and distinct, from, say Montana or Northern Wisconsin, there are certainly similarities. In this third outing for the author's protagonist, the reluctant constable of St. Adele, John McIntire, comes across evidence that two former neighbors had not emigrated to the Soviet Union, as was supposed by pretty much everybody in the region.

In the early 1930's this country was in the grip of a serious depression and there was more than a little unrest. Some people organized a sort of mass emigration by mostly poor or disaffected people to a place in the Soviet Union called Karelia. Karelia was touted as the people's Eden, a place where everyone would be well-housed, properly fed and would find useful work, according to their needs. Karelia was advertised as sort of the penultimate socialist community. In reality, a lot of people who went, disappeared and were never heard from again. What was their fate in Stalinist Russia?

WITCH CRADLE, is set in the early fifties, a time when suspicion of that great evil, Communism, also known as the Soviet Union, was rampant in this country. It was the time of Roy Cohen and Senator Joseph R. McCarthy. It was a time of black listing and anxiety. And while the people of the Upper Peninsula were relatively isolated from most of the excesses of that time, there were those who would take advantage of the circumstances. Bringing those national concerns down to the individual and very personal concerns of the people of St. Adele is a feat worth reading about, especially in the careful and adept hands of author Kathleen Hills.

Many questions rise. What is the FBI doing hanging around this isolated area? What exactly was Constable McIntire doing during his time away from St. Adele, the time he refuses to talk about? What exactly did happen to the people who went to the Soviet Union? And if some of the former residents of the area never made it to Karelia, what happened to them and why? This is a moving, solid work about people we all can relate to, in one form or another.

During 1999 and 2000 the Charlton Press published two Royal Worcester price guides, Figurines and Animals, to serve the Worcester collector, believing they represented two different collecting venues. However, two catalogues proved unnecessary, this move simply increased the cost, inconvienced the collector, and the solution was obvious, publish one catalogue for all Royal Worcester figures.

All Royal Worcester Figures from 1900 to date, have been amalgamated into one volume. The third edition is 320 pages of Royal Worcester Figures listed in RW numerical order, the complete figurine and animal range. Also included with this revised edition are 32 pages of colour illustrations showing figures from the past 100 years. An alphabetical index is included for collector cross referencing between RW number and figurine name.

New additions to an earlier series "Les Petites" coupled with four new series, "Moments," "Ladies of Literature," "Southern Belles" and "Ladies of the Isles" are all incorporated into the new listing bringing the third edition current to 2005.

Naturally, all information carried in the previous catalogues has been brought forward, designer, size, colourways, dates of issue and discontinuation, varieties and pricing are all updated for the current market place, which a collector or dealer will need for 2005.

With the rebirth of the famous Worcester Candle Snuffers in 2000 we have taken the liberty of adding the new Connoisseur Collection to the figurine catalogue. Over fifty snuffers issued between 2000 and 2004 are listed and priced.

Derek Fell does it again! Amazing photography combined with very well researched and written text, sprinkled with occasional glimpses of the original paintings. However, it and "Monet's Garden" are very similar. I personally liked the latter so much I bought several other of his works, and they all are exceptional.

Can China now be considered urbanized? Unlike earlier studies that viewed China as a peasant or rural society, this book focuses on the question of whether China is already urbanized. Each of the contributors considers the degree to which the town-country dichotomy has been obliterated in the China of the 1980s and 1990s. The focus is unique, for previous studies have failed to raise this fundamental question. The contributors to the volume, who are from China, Hong Kong, the United States, and Canada, collectively address China's past and continuing transformation, the multiple factors influencing the urbanization of Chinese society, and the strengths and weaknesses in China's transformation. China's urbanization, the authors claim, can be traced to two successful development strategies: small town development and coastal economic reforms. These strategies, however, raise the question of how China should deal with uneven and inequitable regional growth. China's solution, Guldin says, has been to mix economic liberalization and an emphasis on small town development with a still significant degree of central planning. The work is interdisciplinary, with contributions from the fields of sociology, geography, anthropology, and urban planning. It should be of interest to scholars from all of those disciplines with a special interest in China.
