Nifty little guide.......2006-07-14
This was very helpful in providing a brief overview of the cities I was visiting. However, I like pictures so I can cross reference any of the historical sites I'm seeing.
Great book!.......2002-02-08
I found it to be a wealth of information before my trip and during.
Frommer's Denmark.......2001-07-28
Imagine moving to Denmark as a U.S. citizen and working for a Fortune 500 Firm. Now think of bringing your family here for a week of house hunting and 2 months of summer, while you complete your 9 month assignment. Now begin your research on books regarding Denmark. "Ah Frommer's has a new first edition!" "Okay I'll purchase it." The errors our family noted were- 1)on a cold day in February my daughter (14) and I walked to the Carlsburg Brewery (it was about 1 mile from our Radisson SAS Hotel in Fedricksburg) because it was open on Monday while the museums were closed (We'll make good use of our 9 day initial visit.) Frommer's was wrong, it is not open on Mondays. 2)Hey we are going to live in Denmark for the summer, let's plan on venturing to the Legoland, since we had children ages 4, 11 & 14 to entertain. Time to make the overnight accomodations for our visit to Legoland; okay, let's pull out the Frommer's. Read about Legoland, then contact the Legoland Hotel on site (the only hotel listed by Frommer's for the town of Billund). When we contacted the phone number listed for Legoland we reached not the Legoland Hotel but a travel agency! Hotel Legoland had no rooms available for the July dates we needed, however, they recommended a nearby hotel called Hotel Propellen. It turned out to be the nicest family suite our family has ever encountered. (2 large rooms (a bath with a 7ft. tub, 8ft. double sink, and a separate shower; bar; deck with wooden patio furniture). The hotel offered a kidde pool, large pool, sauna, tanning beds, dining rooms, outside dining, heart shaped whirlpools, exercise room, parking lot, walking trails, a playground for big kids and little kids (2)- with a large trampoline which was low lying, and an enormous breakfast buffet (with a child's play area in the breakfast area)that was included in our room price . This hotel was only 500m (a 3-5 minute walk to the Legoland entrance). Why hadn't Frommer's recommended it and why did they only list one Hotel for a resort that is as hugely attended as Disney World, Disney Land, and Sea World! 3)There was another error in Frommer's recommendatons but I forget what it was. I veiwed the rest of their information with caution and wondered what else might have been in error if they couldn't get these major attractions correct. The Danes are great with promoting their towns' and cities' attractions on colorful literature. The City of Copenhagen even promotes "Copenhagen This Week" complete with events, times and phone numbers. I found this free information more valuable and a greater breath of knowledge than "Frommer's Denmark". July 2001
Good for Trip Tips.......2000-07-06
It's a good guide for you that want some tips on what to see and visit. It could have more hotel options (including the inexpensive...)
Book Description
Books in this series have been completely revised and brought up to date to reflect recent large-scale changes in New York State's High School Regents exams. Let's Review books have been especially designed to prepare students for Regents finals in New York, but also make fine textbook supplements that can be used in high schools everywhere. In addition to subject reviews, each title contains either model exams or actual recent Regents exams with answers. Many teachers prefer to use Let's Review book as classroom companion texts to Barron's Regents Exams and Answers books. This review book, like the current Regents exam, reflects a new emphasis on basics of geography, now part of the high school curriculum. Formerly, this book's title was Global Studies.
Customer Reviews:
Comprehensive.......2007-01-03
Appears to be a thorough review for NY State Regents in Global History and Geography.
Not the best way to go..........2006-09-18
I don't know why some reviewers said this book was accurate. It was filled with obvious errors in the answer key. The information was poorly organized, and many times the exact same page appeared repeatedly in different places. The actual review is pretty informative and all the information you need is there. As long as you really pay attention to what you're reading and are able to pick up on the errors, you should be alright. If you don't though, and blindly accept their answers (despite the fact they they plainly contradict the text) you'll end up very confused and very mistaken. My friends ordered the Prentice Hall review book (straight from their website, I don't think Amazon sells it) and they seemed to like that better.
It depends what you want this book for.......2004-07-20
I got a 99 on the Global Regents, but it was thanks to my notes from class rather than this book. I had taken AP Euro the whole year and we just reviewed Global at the end of the year, about a month before the regents. At first I tried to use this book, but there was no way I could read the whole thing in a short amount of time with so many other regents I had to take, and frankly, I didn't need to. I was just hoping to get some good review questions to practice with. The questions themselves were all right, but the answer key had many, many mistakes. It was incredibly frustrating and I soon gave up using this book.
If you want this book for the whole year, for the actual information, then it would be a good book to have. However, if you want it as a quick review before the regents I'd probably go with something else. Also, if you want practice questions while preparing for the regents, get the red Barrons book, with all the old regents- you'll be better off that way.
Let's Review: Global History and Geography (Barron's Review.......2002-08-31
I am a 10th grade World History teacher in California. This book is the best resource I own. It not only helps the students, but allows me the chance to review prior to lectures and activities. It is must for any world history or global history student or teacher.
OH MY GOD THIS BOOK HELPS!!!!.......2001-04-27
Like many high school New Yorkers, I was super-worried about doing well on my Regents exam. But thanks to Mr. Mark Willner's book, I not only passed, I excelled! I was so satisfied, I told everyone to use it. If you are taking a Global Regent, get this book. This, in addition to your Global History class, will definately assure your success. Mr. Willner's thorough analysis and explanation in crucial areas in the subject is comprehensive and thorough. He is the Social Studies chairman at my school and was named best in the country, so he must have done something right! Get this book, you'll be glad you did.

An OK Review Book.......1999-12-22
If you're taking Global Studies, this book could help, but don't expect anything that'll bring you from an F to an A. There are sections on the history of each area of the world, mostly just to get an understanding of the events. This book would be most helpful when reviewing for the regents, since you get a brief overview of the whole course. In order to improve this book, I think Barrons should include a lot more review questions so the book could be helpful when reviewing for all tests during the year. Then, this book would deserve 4 or 5 stars.
Customer Reviews:
Okay review book........2007-06-13
This book(blue) contains way too much information, it would be a good guide to use during the school year but for cramming students this is definitely not the book the buy. Also, the review section answers are filled with mistakes, almost every other section has one or more wrong answers (the reading contradicts with the review session answers). I wouldn't recommend this book but for a reference it would be okay.
Great study guide!.......2001-01-01
Amazing information stored in this small book. Great tool for anyone who will be taking the New York State Regents. Has lots of questions with explanations and answers. Still a great book even though you aren't taking the actual test.

This is a clever, well designed, entertaining book. It has extra information that adds spice to the mix. Especially notable is its use of ARC (the Association of Retarded Citizens) help in the manufacture. Proceeds from sales also benefit animal associations. BRAVO!!

Book Description
Prolegomena deals with the introductory and hermeneutic sections of a wide range of commentaries and studies on philosophical, scientific, biblical and other ancient authors. Special attention is given to unclearness as a stimulus for interpretation. New light is shed on the Life of an author (e.g. Plotinus') as a preliminary to the study of his works, and on the part played by the idea that life and doctrine should agree with each other. The results obtained by the study of the practices as well as the avowed principles of ancient scholars and commentators among other things further the understanding of the interrelated philosophical, literary, medical and patristic exegetical traditions, of the book of Diogenes Laertius, of Galen's autobibliographies and of Thrasyllus' Before the Reading of the Dialogues of Plato.

First-hand account of a Latina immigrant running for office........1998-10-10
Emma Sepulveda emigrated to the United States from Chile in 1974, a young college student who had supported President Salvadore Allende and thus was in some degree of peril following the coup that left Allende dead. She learned English, became a U.S. citizen, eventually earned a Ph.D. in Spanish language and literature, won prizes in photography, poetry and for literary criticism, and became extremely involved in community activism to improve the lot of Latinos in her adopted city of Reno, Nevada. She also traveled back to Chile to help Las Arpilleristas, the mothers and wives of those who "disappeared" under the Gen. Pinochet reign of terror and who were trying to locate the whereabouts (or remains) of their loved ones. These women made tapestries to both publicize and raise money for their cause. Sepulveda helped make a documentary about these women, and it won a Peabody Award.
Twenty years after she arrived in the United States, Sepulveda ran for the state senate from her local district. In a grass-roots, pavement-pounding, door-knocking campaign, she got first-hand glimpses into not only the lives of recent immigrants but others among our society's disenfranchised: children and senior citizens in poverty, single mothers and divorcees working low-paid jobs. Her encounters with disaffected gun nuts and others are a bath of cold water, although a measure of humor is included. Sepulveda visited the halls of power not only in Nevada but in Washington, D.C., to raise money for her campaign against a well-heeled, white Republican male, Nevada political insider. The reader may end up feeling as if he or she has run a political campaign.
Sepulveda's blow-by-blow account of her campaign - dirty campaign tactics and all (including phoned death threats) - is a captivating chronicle of present American society and our democratic election process. It also spins a compelling tale of an immigrant's journey (early chapters describe life in Argentina and Chile and the Allende saga), and paints a portrait of the slowly emerging clout of Latinos in our country.
