This book is useless.......2005-02-24

I bought both this and Point It by Dieter Graf. Point it is a MUCH better book, Wordless .. borders on the childish and is really not a serious attempt to overcome language barriers. I found Point It much more helpful. It is well designed and covers a wide variety of items and occasions and is a much better buy.

Very Cartoon-y; expected more.......2005-01-01

I returned this book even though it was so cheap to start with that I lost money doing so, but I was just very disappointed. Drawings were cartoon-like and poor quality. I don't speak any language other than English, and I think I could communicate better without this book (actually looks more like a cheap pocket calendar)in a foreign country.

This book is great. My sister is going overseas this summer and speaks only English. With this book I am much more confident that she will make it home in one piece! :) They thought of everything, even down to pale or dark beer. I would definitely not leave the country without it even if I had a grasp of the language where I was going.

Why didn't someone think of this sooner? Point to the pictures, or combinations of pictures and the world is yours. We have found it helpful when traveling, and have given it to foreign visitors as well.

Thorough in nature, yet an easy flow of information palatable to anyone wanting to know the truth about the breed. The author is concise, passionate, and well versed on the topic with both decades of companionship and breeding Neos coupled with a Doctorates in Veterinary Sciences. This marriage gives Dr. Allen's book a most comprehensive find on Italian Mastiffs, ranging from breeding, feeding, behaviors, every topic incredibly observed on many levels. Full of exquisite photos of incredibly regal creatures. A must for anyone considering or owning a Neapolitan Mastiff.

Neapolitan Mastiffs are by far my favorite breed and Dr. Allen has done a wonderful job with her very informative book. She cuts to the chase. In doing so, hopefully, the casual/careless buyers will be ware. We don't want any more Neo's in rescue shelters.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to get a Neo. As the book depicts, they are not the dog for everyone. Please re-consider if you are not sure. This book will explain the breed in full detail.

"THE" book for Neopolitan owners........1999-07-22

As an owner, breeder and trainer I absolutely fell in love with the Neo. I have trained for Schutzhund, French Ring, Personal protection, and Handicap assistance. The Neo is one of the most intelligent animals I have ever worked with, but they are not for everyone. Dr. Allen tells it like it is and is up front and honest about the breed. I disagree with some minor points, but the book is 99% accurate. Read this before you fall in love with and buy your first puppy and you may save yourself heartbreak down the line.

Excellent book. Wonderful pictures, almost the entire collection is pictured. Information is clear and precise. Prices are higher than what today's economy can support but that seems to be the way with all price guides. I highly recommend all of Mr. Schneider's books, they're very well written, pictures are clear, price guides are realistic and they're extremely user friendly.

The German immigrant founders of the pottery works, the Below family, incorporated american nationalistic folk art designs such as the eagle and shield, as well as charming figures in Amish dress with Pennsylvania "Dutch" inscriptions and famous bird designs, into the decorations. the glazes combine cheerful colors on the characteristic beige backgrounds of the brown clay pottery. Tablewares predominate these useful and decorative wares that are recognized as American folk art forms. After its closure in 1970, the Pennsbury molds and traditions were continued variously by the Lewis Brothers Pottery, the Glen View, and Pennington Pottery, and their wares, as the relate to Pennsbury, also are shown in numerous examples and explained. This book gives the enthusiast a wealth of documentation and pictorial reference for identifying, collecting, and enjoying Pennsbury art pottery.

The item was listed as a 1997 publication, however, it was only a 1991 plublication date which I already have. i was looking for an updated version, so I have returned the item.

If there should actually be a 1997 version, I would not mind being contacted so that I may re-order it.

TRULY, THE BEST BOOK IN MY GARDEN LIBRARY!.......1999-07-01

For one of the least expensive gardening books I have ever purchased, this one is exremely helpful and even inspirational! Four of the 20 garden projects included in this workbook were on my list of things I had always wanted to do, but could never find the specific 'how to' information. So, in addition to looking at beautiful pictures of the Beech hedge I always wanted to plant or the Madame Alfred Carriere rose fanned out against a house wall, I now have a complete list of the exact materials and equipment needed as well thoroughly written steps and stages. After reading it from beginning to end, I find at least four more garden projects to add to the 'must do' list! Thank you!!
