this book has an excellent overview of the climbing areas in the state. there are not many details for one specific area. good for a general look at climbing in colorado.

As always this series continues to offer very good information in regards to how to find climbing routes and the pro that is required on the routes. Gives excellent in depth information as to how to get to the specific climbing areas and even what is available for camping/nightlife etc in the surrounding areas. A big plus to have.

Breadth good, depth lacking.......2000-06-07

In Rock Climbing Colorado, Mr. Green takes on the ambitious task of cataloguing the major climbing areas in the state of Colorado. While this guide book is an excellent introduction to the routes extant in Colorado, it suffers from its ambition; too many times, I have been at the base of the climb wondering what it was and what it was rated. Rock Climbing Colorado does an admirable job of describing select climbs at certain crags; however, local guidebooks will typically be far superior. To his credit, Mr. Green cites the corresponding local guidebooks in each area's overview.

Rock Climbing Colorado is an excellent resource for planning a climbing trip; however, once at the crag, the intrepid climber will quickly realize how much he needs the local guidebook.

Wide Range of Areas, but Somewhat Brief Overviews.......1999-04-06

Where Green's guide excels is in the wide range of rock climbing areas included in the guide. He includes many locations that even Colorado locals, like myself, did not know about. This feature will prove useful for anyone road-tripping in CO. or anyone wanting to discover new rock in the state. This book has a major drawback though, it fails to give extensive topo for any one area. The book will only cover about half of an area's climbs in order to save the book from being any thicker than it already is. To the climber looking for thorough beta on a local crag, this book won't cut it, and one will find a specialized guidebook much more beneficial.

This is a must have book for your travel in Colorado.......1998-04-12

I have spent my last two summer vacations traveling through Colorado with my family. This book has been our guide for our travels on back roads. The information has been correct and well laid out. If you enjoy travel on two lane roads versus freeways, where you can see the country around you, this book is for you. I have used the authors book for New Mexico as well. enjoy your trip!

From the author: The bite of the brown recluse spider (BRS) is the most severe arthropod cause of necrotic skin lesions. The severity of cutaneous injury due to BRS bites vary from mild erythema to severe necrosis. Rarely, severe systemic reactions occur. Diagnosis may be difficult, since the victim may not feel the bite or see the spider. Treatment must be individually tailored. Proper treatment, reassurance, and rapid followup are helpful in reducing the cutaneous and psychologic discomfort associated with BRS bites.

This book is very much like John Leguizamo's show's - introspective and intersting. While I didn't think it was too hard-hitting against his fellow thespians, I enjoyed an inside perspective into the real lives of Hollywood actors. I also really enjoyed that Leguizamo shared his failures and weaknesses. It was clever, funny, and sad all at once. A true John Leguizamo experience.

I can't complain at all about this book. John Leguizamo is hilarious. I felt like I was sitting front row at one of his stand up comedies. He talks about his struggles and some 'beefs' he has with actors I certainly never knew about. I also admired the way he was completely honest about every role he played and every person he worked with.

I am a huge John Leguizamo fan. My son introduced me to him because of his love for Leguizamo's short lived TV show House of Buggin. In addition to his films, we have seen him perform Freak on Broadway and John Leguizam Live before it was renamed Sexaholic. With a background like that, I found this autobiography to be very revealing and entertaining. However, as a long time librarian I am very familiar with how people react to book titles when they are unfamiliar with the author or the subject matter. And just as Leguizamo acknowledges bad career choices and mistakes that he has made in his career to date, I am afraid that he will have to eventually accept the fact that his unfortunate title choice has repelled rather than attracted many potential readers. By doing so, he has missed a golden opportunity to use this entertaining vehicle to expand his fan base.

I bought this book for my husband for his birthday -He is not much of a reader -We really like John Leguizamo as an actor and saw him on David Letterman promoting the book -It sounded so interesting and my husband was like -I want to read that -I was kind of surprised because he rarely ever reads. He loves the book -He's even got me reading it -John did a great job -If you like John and movies -You will love this book -It's got a lot of dirt on celebrities -But done in a playful way -Even some of the names have been changed -I would recommend this book -Excellent work John!

Freak was a one-man show in San Francisco and off-Broadway, then moved to
Broadway, gathering Tony nominations. In October 1998 it was an HBO special. For most performers, comedians, it would be just another stand-up concert, a type of program common to HBO. But this is Leguizamo's "Semi-Demi-Quasi-Pseudo Autobiography" and he brings to it such intensity, such a variety of personalities -- as he remembers his family and friends -- that it transcends this description and becomes like, well, a Broadway play.

John Leguizamo has had a remarkably varied career. Fans of the Spawn movie will recall his huge, even monstrous role there. His character and costume was very different in the oddly titled move To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar. He probably reached one of his largest audiences early in his career in the usually pasteurized television mass market, briefly enlivened, energized and diversified by his "Latino variety show" "House of Buggin'."

This is a book based on the one man show and HBO special, edited to be
read, so it of course differs from the performances, which would include some ad lib. One might have expected to save the experience of this show with a tape, or a spoken-word recording, but this paperback is an inexpensive, permanent way to revisit and savor Leguizamo's work again and again, at your pleasure and convenience.

Why is the show not out on DVD?.......2006-11-10

"Freak" is a fantastic piece of writing and an amazing performance by its writer, in his HBO one-man show. What I don't understand is why HBO wouldn't put it out on DVD. They've done it with Chris Rock's shows... If you can get your hands on a tape, watch it. It's funny and heartbreaking.

At turns morose and gross, and gutbusting and bitingly real, you will transported by a family, though superficially unlike your own, eventually begins to resemble your childhood memories.
