This is a good book if you dream of going to Provence or if you've been and you're looking for something to remind you of the trip. However, if you're looking for a guide book that'll actually get you through Provence, this one lacks the depth you'll need... you'd be better off getting one of the bigger Let's Go or Fodor's guides.

This neat little paperback book gives you enough of Paris to fit in your pocket. It has lots of full color pictures and lots of information packed into its 144 pages. I have never been there, but I definitely would like to go visit Paris after reading this book. Buy a copy and maybe you will too!

The Spanish version is a different book!.......1999-12-06

I just want to correct the previous review from a reader in Georgia (USA). The Spanish version is a different book with different cover and ISBN number. The ISBN for the English version is 2831563151 (pub. date May 1998) while the one for the Spanish version is 2831665634 (pub. date Oct. 1998). This is a great little book...I shall be able to provide my true review when I come back from my trip to Paris in a month. See you soon.

An everyday history of Royal folk........2002-08-29

Americans, living as they do in a republic, seem to have an ongoing fascination with the British monarchy, a small elite of non-elected leaders who indulge a life of privilege and affluence and in Robert Opie's super book you can follow the history of the Royals from Victorian times to the recent Queen's Golden Jubilee. Although the book only has sixty-two pages it opens up to spreads twenty-one by fifteen inches and there are over 1,500 items to look at.

Opie's Scrapbooks (there are eight others) all follow the same style, each themed spread is a collection of printed ephemera and related material, usually presented as one carefully arranged still-life photo with some text explaing the background to the items shown. For instance, the spread on Queen Elizabeth's 1953 Coronation has five magazine covers, postage stamps, a ball-point pen, seven candy packages, six children's books, a pack of playing cards, a London Transport subway map and several other items, they all have a reference to the Coronation printed on them.

The events covered include coronations, weddings, jubilees, births and deaths and it does get a bit overwhelming with so much colourful material to look at but that is one of the joys of these books, you can keep coming back and discover something for the first time.

A Must for the Texas Gardener.......2001-02-28

Texas is a large state and includes several hardiness zones. How can one book give advice covering such a variety of climate and soils?? This one does - ranging from the Rio Grande Valley to the high plains of the panhandle. Rather than trying to give all information about all plants listed in the more than 200 lists, this is a shopping list and a guideline of what will thrive and do well in a particular part of the state.

Given are not only lists of the common names but also the scientific names of the plants included. And there are lists that cover almost any conceivable type of plant.

Damn good book, this book is realy in debt with these 5 latino's. However there a alot of important latino's in america. It will be wonderful if the author wrote about equally important but less known Hispanic Americans.
