Everyone should have this book in their personal library. This is the best book I have ever seen on wild plant identification. I use it regularly to identify and know the difference between native wild plants and weeds making sure not to destroy the beneficial plants.

I have learned a lot about plant identification from this book and wish it was more available. Everyone I know would have a copy.

I do volunteer prairie restoration and this book is currently used by many people in the field. The people who use it a great deal say it is the best for plant ID. I have a list of 13 people who are looking for a copy of this book and it is highly recommended. Anyone know how to get 13 copies of this book or get the publisher to put it back in print?

most of the weed i.d. books i've seen are line drawings but this one (i assume by courtenay and zimmerman tho it doesn't say) is very good-nice clear pictures with easy quick info and many sub species are listed as well-sure wish i could buy this book to stock for my customers who are now growing wildflowers and have no clue which are flowers and which might as well be plucked from the area-

A pioneer and leader in the preservation and restoration of native Midwest prairies since the 1930s, the University of Wisconsin–Madison Arboretum has a stellar collection of prairie plant species, including horsetails, ferns, rushes, sedges, grasses, shrubs, vines, and wildflowers. This guide illustrates and describes more than 360 native and introduced species that grow and bloom on the Arboretum prairies and also briefly discusses or mentions many additional species, infraspecific taxa, and hybrids. Its intent is to increase awareness and respect for remaining small prairie remnants, motivate readers to work for prairie preservation and restoration, and encourage the planting of native species in yards and gardens.
Botanist and taxonomist Theodore S. Cochrane has written the text to engage a variety of readers: prairie enthusiasts, gardeners, amateur botanists, younger students learning about plants, and college students and professionals. Nomenclature follows in part the new APG classification system. Richly illustrated with detailed color photographs by Claudia S. Lipke and botanical illustrations and maps by Kandis Elliot, the guide provides a beautiful and informative sample of the flora of the Arboretum and of the southern Wisconsin prairie landscape. Many of the plants, of course, are also found throughout the upper Midwestern United States and in adjacent southern Canada.

Written by Theodore S. Cochrane (Senior Academic Curator of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Herbarium), Kandis Elliot and Claudia S. Lipke (senior artists in the Department of Botany), Prairie Plants of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum is a beautiful guide featuring full color photography throughout. Each page of this lavish guide features a different plant, with descriptions of its leaves, flowers, fruits, range and habitats in Wisconsin, and other insights, not to mention multiple images of the species' leaves and flowers especially. A brief introductory section discussing prairies, a glossary, and an index round out this lavish reference, which is surely the next best thing to visiting the UW-Madison Arboretum in person.

    This book contains over 300 pages of info regarding a very large selection of field and roadside plants.You don't have to be a botanist,so to speak, but some plant knowledge will make it more enjoyable to read and use as a reference book.

      Very good pictures and text description. After reviewing its good quality I would have preferred more about growing them as well. This is a buy product for anyone that wants to know what they are looking at in the field. Not a good carry around field, in the back pocket book, but still a very good reference book.

                Pure Drivel. This is possibly the worst guide book I've ever used. The guide has pretty pictures and a good map inserted in the back cover, but the narrative is written at a fifth grade level by a bored Junior League housewife. The book repeats itself, rewriting the same boring descriptions in different sections of the book. There is no understanding of the culture or history, no description of the public transport system and no development of the role of Singapore in Southeast Asian politics. The book thinks that everything in Singapore is just dandy, gives no warning of tourist traps and is best used by Cruise Ship passengers with a need to visit more department stores.

                I used this guide on a recent visit and had the worst meal (and the most expensive)on my entire asian trip following its suggestions. You'll learn more from ten minute talk with a cab driver.

                this book is just the guide for people that like to travel to tropical Singapore ,it had all the best feature interest listed with detail of location,map and many more.It also has picture of interest showing places like Sentosa,a beautiful island at the southern part of Singapore,this small island has a fun fill fantasy water park which boast the biggest in South East asia.And also with hotel and resort over looking a long strech of white beach,And also monporail travel around the island at snail pace ,it will take you aound to various attration like the history museum,the under water world ,the musical fountain,a football field size of garden and a lot more.This book is highly recommende if you like to travel to Sinagpore for the first time.

                      I am a 16-year-old girl. This was a good book. Ryan's life was very sad, but he was happy. The book needed more kids' stories. Ryan was the only kid in there. Ryan's story didn't have enough detail. The adults were boring.

                      I liked the book it had a lot of original stuff you don't see from an "how to do comics" book like interviews with various professionals in the field,input on publishing,intros to computer graphics techniques,and info on scripting. If I had to mention a drawback I'd have to say it was a little bit pieced together. I thought it could have had more flow to it and be a bit longer, but still all in all a pretty good book.

                      I bought this book for my wife, who makes Gollies in all sizes,and she was astounded to see the huge variety of them that have been produced throughout the ages since they were first introduced. For anyone who wants to collect ideas for making some, she recommends this book as perhaps the most comprehensive collection of golliewoggs there is.

                            Book Description

                            This volume is a new compendium of Albanian etymology tracing thousands of modern Albanian words back to their origins. It contains detailed information on the Indo-European vocabulary preserved in Albanian as well as on numerous loanwords coming from ancient Greek, Latin, early Romance and Slavic.

                            The ancient elements of the Albanian vocabulary are used for the reconstruction of their Proto-Albanian origin and then compared with their Indo-European parallels. The history of Indo-European words and of early loanwords in Albanian shows the history and culture of the Albanian people reflected in the etymology of the Albanian language.

                            The book also includes a short sketch of Albanian historical phonetics and a vast bibliography. Every entry is extensively documented and contains earlier etymological explanations and interpretations.

                            An etymological dictionary in English and in a rather rarely used language is a treat for those who need it. Such work very much helps the learner to remember better words that on the surface make no sense by looking up their etymology. And the book is very scholarly.
                            The big problem is the price, $309 at amazon, but it can be bought from the UK for 'only' $146. It is unfortunate that this resource is so expensive.
