I can't say enought for this series of books as loved every one of them.If you are interested in Ireland or just want to read a excellent series I would give an A + for these books.

The Pipes Are Calling : Our Jaunts Through Ireland.......2000-04-29

This book is truly a magnificent piece of writing. Niall Williams and Christine Breen describe their jaunts with their daughter Deirdre so clearly that you are with them in their car as they experience the excitement as they travel the back roads of Ireland -- all of the the sights, smells, sounds and feelings of the different places the travel to, and best of all their life back home in Kiltumper.

They fill the book with wonderful homey anecdotes about their travels, life at their farm and with their neighbors. Stories that not only open the door into their lives, but welcome you in with a steaming mug of tea and a hearty slice of Christine's Brown Bread.

The aftermath of the Civil War presented exceptional legal questions. Bitter strife and desperate shortages on both sides resulted in extreme wartime measures enacted by the United States government. The Confiscation Act of 1861, which legalized the seizure of property, proved particularly harsh. To soften the effects of this act on loyal citizens residing in Confederate territory, the Act of March 12, 1863, created the special legal theory of abandoned or captured property. This legislation set up a special Treasury fund to reimburse owners for loss of goods upon proof of ownership and verification of loyalty to the Union. After the war, more than 500 plaintiffs brought a total of 1578 claims against the United States government regarding wartime losses they had suffered.

This book is very similar to another by the same author. This book shows the artist's style, but its primary importance is its philosophy of drawing from life (nudes.)

I good book to add to your fish library........2000-12-14

This is book three of a three volume set. It covers the more "exotic" fish available in the pet stores. Vol 1 is the more common aquarium fish, Vol 2 is rarer fish (cichlids and brackish). Each book is well written and concise. This book covers tank setup, fish, plants, and more.

Unlike other photo guides, this one includes a more complete info section for each fish. Not just the pictoral symbols that some other books have.

Each fish has a large and colorful picture, although the quality is some times lacking. The layout is easy to follow and the information is generally excellent.

I wouldn't make this your first book to purchase but it is definetely one to add to your library.

Anyone looking for a handy reference for freshwater aquarium fish would do well to buy this book. Its small size aids in its active usage, and its index of common and scientific names helps in locating the species you are curious about. It has good pictures and descriptions for all the fish contained within, and you would do well to follow the indications given, as in many cases one is hard-pressed to find any alternate sources of information on rare fish.

For the most part, the translation from German is without error. It is understandable in all cases, slightly awkward in a few. However, there are certain instances where data is incorrect, or pictures switched or missing. These are few, but notably occur with the Siamese Algae Eater and Corydoras julii entries, where there is an incorrect and missing picture, respectively.

Overall, a great fishkeeping resource.

An Excellent Book for Any Aquarist.......2002-09-30

This is a wonderful and consise guide to the amazing variety of tropical fresh water fish. The photographs are clear and descriptions of the various species are informative and helpful. This is the only book I've found helped me identify a previously purchased fish that had been wrongly identified. Information on various plants and diseases are very helpful as well. Everyone with a freshwater aquarium needs this book!

This one toasts the old Axelrod standard.......2002-07-17

The Axelrod atlas was the standard for years, but this one makes that book look bad. The reason: Every fish has a detailed description including origin location, maintenance, food, and breeding. Plus, it lists synonyms and erroneous names the species is sold under.

This is probably the most in-depth, relevant, high-quality single-volume reference book I have found in any field that I have personally researched. Just buy it.

I found myself getting absorbed into this book about Chile peppers. Now I know so much more about them. This book came with a textbook set, Into English, for ESOL students. I highly recommend it when learning about different cultures and important foods. Personally, I love Chile Peppers!

The anonymous Life of King Edward, written about the time of the Norman Conquest, is an important and intriguing source for the history of Anglo-Saxon England in the years just before 1066. It provides a fascinating account of Edward the Confessor and his family: his wife Edith, his father-in-law Earl Godwin, and the queen's brothers Tostig and Harold (king in 1066). The foundations of the legend of St Edward the Confessor are apparent from the version of the work supplied by the unique MS of c.1100. Professor Barlow explores the problems raised by this anonymous work in its now incomplete MS, and examines the development of the cult of St Edward. He also investigates the life and works of Folcard and Goscelin of St Bertin, possible authors. Recent discoveries have enabled Professor Barlow to reconstruct in part the lacunae in BL Harley MS 526 with texts closer to the original. For the second edition, he has undertaken a complete revision of the book.

When Henry II came to the throne of England, he was hailed as the one who brought to an end the divisions caused by the Norman conquest, for both the Saxon and Norman royal lines met in him. To promote this newfound unity, the cult of King Edward the Confessor was promoted, culminating in his canonization in 1161. Shortly afterwards, on October 13, 1163, the new saint's body was solemnly enshrined in Westminster Abbey. On this occasion the honor of preparing the sermon was given to Aelred, the revered Abbot of Rievaulx.
