With beautiful photographs that even young children will relate too, this book works on so many levels -- how pots are made, how one modern American Indian family lives and works together, and a little bit of the history of the pueblo potters.

The pictures and the text provide a thorough view into a unique way of living based on the traditions of many generations in the desert southwest.

Children love to seeing pictures of children working with clay. It shows so many of the steps -- actually going out and digging for the clay to firing the pots. My daughter still asks me if we can go dig for some clay so she can make some pots.

Use it as a travel guide for children especially if you are going to New Mexico and will be visiting pueblos and are interested in the adobe structures and pots.

It pairs well with Grandmother's Adobe Dollhouse.

not so contemporary and poorly printed.......2003-08-30

I was attracted to the book by the reviews I read on the Amazon. Then I received the book and was confused to see a completely different cover than the on the picture (is it a different edition?). That could explain why I found poor quality printing instead of great pictures. The colors are poor and differ between pictures of the same composition in different stages of the project.
As to the title, de gustibus non est disputandum, but for me word "contemporary" means something different, and adding lots of raffia does not make a flower arrangement look contemporary.
The last thing, refers to the author rather than to this very book. Together with "A New Flower..." I ordered "The Complete Book of Garlands..." by the same author. The quality of the print is better but lots of projects are copied from "A New Flower...". That is disappointing, taking into consideration the fact that the garlands book was created 4 years after the New Arranger, what seems a long time to come up with new ideas (especially for someone who is described as "one of the most innovative young floral designers" - from the back flap).

Step-by-step floral design for the novice.......2002-02-08

This book is wonderfully written with clear instructions on making beautiful arrangements with dried and fresh flowers. It lists everything needed and explains the tricks and tools of the trade. The photography is also quite exquisite and it is a book that one should have in their library. Excellent!

This is one of best books out! I am a professional floral designer and this covers everything from traditional to contemporary plus identifies plant materials.Has ideas for holidays, silks, dried arrangements and other general ocassions. I wanted to have my students, since I also teach florist and design workshops buy it. I have a large collection and this is my favorite. It's great.

A lovely inspiration to creating unbelievable arrangements. teaches techniques, inspires the eye and is a wonderful addition to any coffee table, book shelf or library. The images are to beautiful not to be admired over and over.

This study demonstrates that Paul in 1 Corinthians 3:5 - 4:5 is led by the rhetorical situation to emphasize God's final judgment as the affirmation of the individual Christian's work. Paul is not simply opposing his future eschatology to a Corinthian "realized" eschatology. Rather, he is teaching the Corinthians to adapt their inherited belief in a corporate judgment to new concerns within the community. The exegetical study is set in the context of past scholarship on the questions of Paul's eschatology, his beliefs concerning judgment, and the role of eschatology in 1 Corinthians. Chapters on the functions of divine judgment in Jewish and Greco-Roman writings help to define the way early Christians thought of God's judgment and to suggest how Corinthian sensibilities influenced Paul's application of judgment language. This book contributes to ongoing debates about the apocalyptic theology of Paul and the eschatological views of the Corinthians. It will also be useful to scholars who are interested in the role played by ideas of divine judgment in the world of the New Testament.

Some very funny stories offset by tears at the end. I know some of the characters so it made for an even better read. Highly recommned this for anyone with parents of the same generation. I gave the book to several people and they all passed it on as well.

Unbiased as I am, I want all to know that Everyday Matters is a charming, humorous, highly readable biography. It tells tales of growing up in America in the 1920s, college in the 1930s, work in the 1940s, family in the 1950s and 1960s, and further adventures in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. You'll laugh, and you'll be touched. And Nardi Reeder Campion tells the truth, mainly -- with a few strechers.

I have known of Nardi Campion for many years. I have read her articles in our local paper for those same years. I was a head nurse on the patient care unit where one of her relatives was a patient. She is a graduate of Wellesley College, my daughter graduated from Wellesley in 1999. We have much in common, although we have never met. The most important of which is that we appreciate our lives and love our families. Nardi Campion is a writer, a wonderfully magnanimous writer. She tells it like it is and admits she may not remember it 100%, but almost :-)

This new book, "Everyday Matters, a Love Story" fills in the gaps of much that we didn't know about Nardi Campion and her life and loves. She is an amazing woman, married to the same man for 59 years, mother of 5 children, an author, a scholar and beloved wife. She tells of her life as a child, her mother and father. Her father was an Army man who made the Army his life, and the family moved many times in many years. But they were happy and well educated and well loved. There was sibling rivalry even though Nardi's mother denied this fact. Nardi and her older sister Julia loved each other, but there always was that competition. Finally acknowledged at the time of Julia's death.

Nardi went to Wellesley College where she blossomed and where she met her beloved Tom, who went to Harvard. They both felt the attraction and married a few years later. Over time, five children were born; they moved nine times and had many hilarious stories to tell. Nardi became a writer and eventually wrote nine books. They finally settled down in Hanover, NH home of Dartmouth College, where Tom had a job as fundraiser. They loved their life, their children and grandchildren, friends and all.

Eventually Nardi and Tom decided to give up their home and move to a retirement home. Soon after Tom grew ill and faded away. His Memorial service was one to be admired. Scottish bagpipers, poems and remembrances by all. Nardi has gone on to many journeys, some fun, some not so fun but learning experiences. She continues to write her article for the local paper and now she has this wonderful book. Her life as it unfolded, and what a life. Highly recommended. prisrob

Nardi Campion has written a gem, a witty and wise reflection on a life lived to the fullest. Like any great memoir, it introduces us to a new world, filled with parents and children, triumphs and tragedies, exaltation and despair, with humor, curiosity, and an enduring love constant throughout.
This is a book for readers of all ages, any man or woman who treasures thoughtful and clear writing. If you're tired of shallow celebrity driven drivel, this is the book for you. I'm buying multiple copies to give to my family at Christmas.
Particularly noteworthy is the book's exceptional coda: an original poem by Stanford poet Peter Martin Campion.

You absolutely MUST own this book if you are a serious U2 fan. Several pictures in this book cannot be found elsewhere. This book also gives great insight to the humble beginnings of this incredible irish band.

Excellent pictorial and text history.......1998-03-10

the Early Days is an excellent history of the band from their formation in 1976 up to their record deal with Island in 1979. The pictures are extremely rare and the text provided by the guy who's been there since the beginning. A must have for die-hards.

Great Read!.......2007-07-02

This book was recommended to me by a few people and I read it long before I saw the movie "Owning Mahoney". You follow the footsteps of an "everyday Joe" and the overwhelming compulsion that can drive a man who is very honest and moral into committing acts that he would have never dreamed possible. The book also shows firsthand how it is not only the gambler's life who is decimated, but that of his family, friends, and employer. The book is a true story of a life that spiraled out of control, but shows that redemption is possible. If this subject interests you, I highly recommend reading the book and skipping the movie. Philip Seymour Hoffman gives a five star performance, but the movie doesn't begin to capture the depth of pain that Brian Molony caused those around him. Truly a fascinating read.

Beats the Movie Version.......2004-03-23

Wow. This book jumps you. I read it out of curiosity, having seen the film version "Owning Mahowney" (sic).

I was unprepared for what a hard-working journalist can do to ignite your feel for the main character. Magnificently well researched, and woven with the artistic sensibility of a Truman Capote (I'm thinking "In Cold Blood").

I'm quite disappointed not to see anything else available by this writer. Of course, I have no idea if he's even alive. But my hat's off to him in any event.

I'm curious re Mr. Molony as well. I hope his life's proved as worthwhile as he would wish.

You cannot regret buying this one. No way.

Even though I knew what happened in the end, I found this book fascinating and compelling. I chose it as a 'before bed' book because I thought it would be easy to put down. It wasn't, and I lost a nights sleep, but gained a great read!
