I first used a Michelin Guide in Italy in 1963. This is the best there is if you want to be sure you don't miss out on anything of interest or importance. I used Michelin for 30 years living in Europe. Now living in Florida, the state guide is incredibly accurate and complete. Same applies to all the other US ones. Some find it too comprehensive, but you can choose what to read and ignore some details. Be sure you will never miss out on any place of importance with a Michelin.

This book is a complete owner's manual for people who own zebra finches . It is an excellent book and arrived on the date projected .

This is an excellent book but it is too short. I would have liked to have seen more information.

His chapter on habitat and distribution is great, it follows with behavior and flocks and colonies. He has interesting and useful pictures of the birds in the wild, but they are all on one page. You kind of say, ''oh,'' when it should have been ''wow.''

It had tremendous potential but it seems like someone took a scissor and hacked off too much original content.

The illustrations are great, and they are all of Zebra finches. He includes drawings and pictures of aviaries, and other housing options, suggestions galore.

Then, in the section on ''health care,'' someone cut and pasted a picture of a canary having its nails clipped.

It places a caption, ¨trim your bird's nails carefully to avoid injury.¨ It just seems to scream ''aw to hell with it, we gotta press.'' Bad, shabby attitude.

... Hopefully trim your Zebra's nails more carefully, than the guys who edited the book would have!

The canary shown is also twice the size of a Zebra finch. The author suggests holding the little claw up to a light, to not cut into a blood vessel; far from what the picture demonstrates.

Despite the shortcomings, which appear to be out of the author, Hans Jurgen Martin's control, ¨Zebra Finches¨ is an informative, fun read. His love for these little birds is so clear, and just as contagious.

This is a must have book for a new owner. I found it to be very helpful and an easy read. After reading a few other books I still had many unanswered questions. This book answered almost all of them! In the future I will buy all books about Zebra Finches written buy Hans-Jurgen Martin.

Predictable plot, good characters.......2000-04-13

Judd Lassetier is your typical anti-hero, attractive to the heroine because of his faults, not despite them. One thing that I am really sick of in these Indian romance novels is the frequent and unecessary use of the term "Half-breed". Now I know that someone out there is going to try to tell me that it is historically acurate to use that term, and I agree, in the context of the novel it may sometimes be required. However, why do the authors and publishers use this all over the dust jackets? It's a very offensive term that these authors who claim to respect the native peoples of this land should use carefully. That said, I like the hero and heroine's characters a lot, but in the last third of the novel the author seems to be struggling to keep these two from getting to know each other as individuals as well as keeping them apart romantically. I reccomend this book if you like Indian romance and want a change from the kidnapped white-woman thing.

Superb.......2000-08-17

This was one of the first books on zebra finches I checked out from the library, when I first started getting interested in the birds, and it helped me immensely. It explained why certain foods were necessary, and what vitamins can be found in what, it gave me the information I needed to know what size to make my cage. It's been a great help to me, and now I've had my birds for over a week and they're wonderful and happy.

Oh, my God what a horribly written book! I have no problem with the subject - it's the lack of organization of the journal entries (not in an 'artsy' way either)and the prose (a nauseating mix up of Shakespeare-ish and cheap romance novel-ish). I could not get past the fifth page. I even tried that reliable old trick of going to the end - that was even worse!

This book proves that a womanizers life can be just as boring as anybody else. I too anticipated a steamy, raunchy tale of mindless sex with many woman from all walks of life, its strange because the author never paints a good enough picture of his sexual encounters. This book is filled with the authors head-talk of dealing with emotions, not necessarily emotions brought on by the woman. Chatman obviously doesn't understand most of what he's going through, nor can we the read ever feel like he'll muster up enough diction to explain his predicament. The body of the book is written verbosely, mainly due to his failed attempted at explaining the inner workings of his life.
There is no special 'game', or 'mack' Chatman professes to embody, ironically the (back) cover of the book reveals how the story goes. I think Chatman his self doesn't fully understand his confessions. WARNING: The dates do not follow any particular time frame.

This is a dangerous book. More powerful than any man's little black book. For the journal entries of the womanizer are where he pours his soul, the girls in the little black book merely get his sperm.

In 'Confessions of a Womanizer,' Chatman provides more than a glimpse into the world of the predatory, noncommittal male. Through Catman's wonderful prose, we learn the hidden emotional life of a womanizer ~ yes, contrary to outward appearance, they do have emotions.

Therein lies the danger.

Her friends have named him a womanizer, a cad, a user. But she knows differently. Underlying every woman's fantasy about this man that all her friends tell her is a cad, is this deep rooted, unwavering conviction that he is wounded, and that she, & she alone, is the one worthy of helping him heal his wounds & exploring the emotional world with her ~ and only her. The fortress hides a passionate man.

Chatman feeds every one of those fantasies with his rich, passionate journal entries. Even when he is at his most dispassionate in action, the writing belies a depth of feeling, code of honor, & pain ~ yes, even an awareness of 'her' pain.

Yet, he remains alone. Remains a womanizer.

There are chases & frustrations. Conquests & roads not taken. There are loud breakups, and the quiet moments when the romance disintegrates. He'll wax on rather poetically over the inner beauty of one girlfriend, then it's tirade regarding expecations placed upon him ~ a man who clearly stated the rules from the get-go. Next he laments the ability to approach a woman, his self-confidence shaken. He beckons, he repels. He says come hither, then disappears yon.

Like any real world womanizer, he dodges definition as he weaves his spell.

In truth, there is danger in this book.

It's seductive powers can make you pine for this alluring & elusive man ~ or the one just like him you are thinking of when you hear the word 'womanizer.' (Don't!)

If you buy this book looking for the answers to understand The Womanizer, you won't find them here. But that's only because he doesn't have them himself yet. And if the magic of his writing lies tied up with those tangled emotions of his, for the selfish reasons of a reader, I hope he never does find the answers.

(Sorry to doom you to a life of solitude, Stephen. But a girl's gotta read.)
