This book contains many Picasso photographs at various stages of his life in Paris (before he moved to Vallauris). Did you know this revolutionary artist spent a great part of his life in a very "typical" flat of the most "bourgeois" district of Paris (8th arrondissement)? Paintings are displayed both along a geographical and a chronological perspective which is a refreshing and appropriate approach for such a book. This guide is practical, full of facts. You will like it.

Wake up stArchitects .......2006-09-02

The profession of Architects is no longer that of the omnipotent beneficent; in fact it never has been, except in the reflections of our inflated egos. Habraken reminds us of this in this book, and makes a sincere appeal for architects to wake up to the reality that our profession is but a part of. He distinguishes Architecture (as what we all know it as) from the Field, which is an autonomous and ubiquitous built environment with all its life that exists and grows without the need of architects and planners. This Field is what the architectural profession has to reckon and carefully integrate with.

My husband picked this up for me in a bargain book store. I was like, ehh Tom Arnold... However, I read the first few pages and I was already smiling. I loved how he can be vengeful of people who wronged him and sweet while doing it at the same time. I read this a long time ago but it still holds up in my head that I laughed like crazy, I remeber him playing a prank on the Elaine from Seinfeld and a funny altercation between the two. After I read it I wanted to see all the movies he's in. I've read George Lopez, Rodney Dangerfield ( pretty good though), that wayans guy. This book's better, and funny. Too short.

I can't remember a book, before this one, making me laugh out loud. Over and over.

Go in with an open mind, a love of the absurd and outlandish, and enjoy the ride. I was sorry when it ended.

I do agree with the previous reviewer that the book jumped all over the place - but you get the feeling that Tom is like that in real life. He probably jumps from topic to topic in conversation! I also wished he had put photos of Roseanne and his second wife instead of so many similar photos of his current wife. There are many touching moments as well as laught out loud moments. His insight into relationships was very knowledgeable and he has good advice. He seems like a person who would make a good friend and people are lucky to have him in their life!

For some reason, I've alway's found Tom Arnold funny. They guy has taken alot of good hits and stays on his feet. With this book he really takes you into his head. He writes it as a letter to his unborn child. It's something all men have thought about doing. It's amazing with all the hatred that His Ex has shown that he doesn't take the opportunity to retaliate, but he honestly talks about his time with Roseanne and thanks her to a certain extent. I like his honesty and would gladly buy anything he writes. He takes us on the roller coaster that's been his life. And I can honestly say that I laughed out loud on more than one occasion while reading it.

This is a good overview of topics that should be included in a contract. For those of us with out legal training that need to write and review contracts... this is a good start!

At last, a book on international sales for everyone........2001-07-03

I've been looking for this book for years. I consult and train on international purchasing, and I really like this book.

First of all, the author shares a lot of my opinions. She understands the cultural influences on contracting, recognizes that a contract isn't going to solve problems if you pick the wrong supplier or customer, and believes in keeping contracts short and simple.

Second, she writes both her sample contracts and the text of the book clearly and persuasively. The style is infinitely better than any predecessor books on the topic.

And finally, she hits the key issues where international contracts differ from domestic...Incoterms, CISG, exchange rates changing, and the importance of face to face contact in negotiation.

"A Short Course in International Contracts" showed itself a very good help to beginning understand the 'Lex Mercatoria', in the following aspects: a- negociation e role of attorney; b- Incoterms and other trade terms and c- importance of knowing cultural differences around the world. As a law student, I've found the Mrs.Shippey's book a valious tool for my essay, which is necessary to graduation title.

Rubbish.......2000-08-11

Shippey's books provides a fine summary of issues that one faces when drafting international contracts. However, her contract models are not practical and thorough. If you try to use this book to write your own contracts, you will get screwed.

Excellent briefing on how to write an export sales contract........1998-10-10

Our consulting staff has reviewed this book and feel that it is an outstanding presentation of the complexities involved in writing international sales and marketing contracts. Our staff refers to it often when they are drafting export sales amd marketing agreements for clients. We recommend that exporters read this book BEFORE they discuss an export sales or marketing agreement with an attorney. It could save them a great deal of money! John R. I'm not fond of options....but this is a great book!.......2003-04-30

Mr.Caplan has put a great spin on option investing. If 90% of options expire worthless why buy them, just sell them. This is where this book shines. I have been involved with futures for 11 years. I have been a broker an investor ...

In each instance I have avoided options on futures. With Mr.Caplan's assessment on how volatitlity plays a key role to determining what options to sell and what price to sell them at. I was impressed at how he was able to take a complicated subject and make it easy to read.

His inclusion of articles from various other option traders was great as well.

If you write options ONLY!.......2003-01-26

This book was promoted heavily on different sites on the net, and I happened to be one of those who bought it!!!! To cut the story short, this book is not for amatuers! And not for ordinary regular option buyers (like me)!

This book covers only:
1. Futures trades (mainly).
2. Option writing and spreads.

But if you are not both of the above... forget this book!!! At the beginning of this book, you'll see how deeply the author discusses futures not stocks! And when you get to page number 47, you understand that this book is useless if you (like me) only buy options.

I am not saying this book is good or now, how am I to know?!! I can't even test his methodology... but in my situation this book is of no use!

Worth a Read.......2002-12-09

Though dated and focused on Futures, I found this book to be very helpful. The last 3rd of this book is a collection of articles written by other authors on the subject. Very useful!

Why not 5 stars? It is focused on Futures instead of Options in general.
This is only mildly annoying as most of the information is relevant to Options.

Again, very helpful book.

This book is simply a "must have" for anyone involved in any way in the finances of a church or a minister. I have been in church finance for over 10 years and I am frequently chagrined to find out how many misconceptions and how much bad information is out there about church accounting and ministers' tax treatment. This book is a clear and concise guide to the specific issues related to accounting, record keeping, tax preparation and tax planning that are unique for ministers.

Though written by an accountant, it is easy to read for non-accountants while remaining useful for accounting professionals.

I cannot recommend this book, or it's companion, Zondervan 2003 Church and Nonprofit Tax & Financial Guide, highly enough. I pre-order the new editions every year.
